Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

GAMEDAY - Round 23

At this time of year with a fairly strong looking top 8 it's simple, win.

Ruthless attack on the ball yadda yadda yadda.

Bring it on

The last time we won a round 23 game was in 2015 vs GWS. That game was also on a Sunday, Benny Newton kicked three but it wasn’t enough to save his AFL career. It’s a bit of an odd feeling the season not being over after today’s game.

Indeed @Ethan Tremblay

It feels refreshing not to be going through reams of posts bringing up speculative recruits who might come to us 'if the price is right' (a price we couldn't have paid anyway), talk of 50 years of failure and the draft.

It might be all over in two weeks time but at least we are at this stage and the usual s**tshow hasn't started.

Going to be a great day at the MCG. Finals locked in, that rare sight of happy MFC fans.

Their midfield is excellent but they lack running HBs and don’t have too many scoring options. If we break even in the middle we should be able to lock it in their fwd half

go you Demons!

GWS were the big beneficiaries of last night, as they’re now guaranteed not to travel week 1.

If they win they’ll play us at Spotless

If they lose they’ll play Sydney at the SCG.

I wonder if that changes their approach in any way - ie resting a sore Phil Davis.

Can’t wait to the reception when we run out today.

We hit the finals in 1987 with a wet sail, and proceeded to destroy Norf and Sydney in our first 2 finals.

Confidence is worth many goals. This is an important game for more than just ladder position.

Feeling different compared to most match days.  Glad we are already holding a ticket to September, but completely unsure what will get served up today.

hope we get through unscathed, play high quality footy, and get the 4 points ( in that order, which is different to most games!).  We travel well, so not so worried where we play.  Better at home so I can attend, but we haven’t really made a fortress of the G this year.

The introduction of the bye round has pretty much eliminated the practice of teams laying down before the finals. The carrot for GWS beating us is the prospect of playing us again in the EF, at home, having only just beaten us. They’ll throw everything at us.

I can’t wait for this game. Should be a ripper.

Looking forward to seeing how we go in a true, nothing to lose game. The boys are free to go out and play a game of footy with no significant consequences. Playing with freedom can produce amazing things, and so can momentum.

I am extremely confident about this game. Was feeling the same last week, and the opposite the week before.

Bring on the Cats!

Biggest game of the year for Melbourne. Win well and roll though September.

I thought last week might be tough to beat but anyway.

With us a September lock and the Giants to play in Sydney regardless I suspect this may be a freewheeling affair. We have more to gain though with a home final and that hopefully is enough.

With Viney to return and possibly Smith and Hunt available by finals you would not want to under perform.

This has nothing to do with GWS it's about our attitude. If the player are switched on and I believe they will be we could win the flag, if not it's one final and plan for next year.

Wouldn't that be wonderfully, typically, shitfully Melbourne?

First final in 12 years and we'd have to travel to [censored] city to watch it!

Yep, pretty much it Nash. Win and we get Geelong at home, lose and we roll the dice again with GWS at some god forsaken ground. Who wants to play the orange people twice in a few weeks? Nah, bring it on Dees. Then we can bury Geelong.

A-game today boys..play it finals style.  TODAY.

Live rehearsal. No backward steps...no fluffed passing. No missing opportunities.

Ramp it up and take no prisoners. The next level campaign starts now.

I expect a pretty close battle until about 5-10 into last quarter...then Melbourne by 30

Go Dees....bury the dastards ;)

So you're saying if we lose today we may as well not show up in a fortnight?

This is more important than last weeks lock in a finals spot in enemy territory to avoid the pressure of having to win in round 23?

Cant say I agree on either point but each to their own.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
