Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Finals Tickets

Out of interest I came across this extract on the AFL site re how they allocate GF tickets for 2018:

TICKET ALLOCATION
The capacity of the MCG will be approximately 100,000 on Grand Final Day.
In answer to
guidelines (a), (b) an (c) the AFL proposes that tickets to the 2018 AFL Grand Final be allocated in approximately the following manner:
1.Competing Club Members16000-40,000
2.AFL Clubs (18) 0-7,000
3.MCC Reserve16,000-26,000
4.AFL Members13,000-23,000
5.AFL/Medallion Club Members 3,000-5,000
6.AFL Entitlements/Contractual Obligations 5,000-30,000
7. Competing Clubs 0-5,000.
Total 100,000 Approx
However we note that:
(a)the configuration of the ground may change which could affect the split of tickets
between AFL Members, MCC Reserve and Competing Club Members;
(b)the number of standing room tickets to be made available will vary depending upon a
variety of issues;
(c)if at any time the AFL deems it appropriate to sell tickets to the general public they
may do so at anytime;and
(d)there will be a substantial number of “walk ups” (50%) in the MCC Reserve.

Just got an email from the club.

Great seats still available

Adults from $35 Families from $70

Leads me to believe there will not be a packed house this week.

Yeah I got that too, jumped on to check where those great seats were out of interest. They're at the back of level 4 behind the goals at each end. MCG predicting 90k so it will be similar to last week, hopefully with the same partisan Demons crowd.

Compared to Pies/GWS where only 68k predicted.

Received letters in the mail this morning from the club with information regarding Grand Final ticketing. It’s an AFL directive, the club is obliged to send out the info when 6 clubs remain and not a case of bathwater slurping.

Forms are enclosed about guaranteed ticketing and ballots. Anyone else receive letters?

AFL members showing level 4 front with ability to buy two guest passes.

At this time last week it was only showing level 4 rear.

Good.

I sat in the AFL members last week and it was jam packed.

Whilst it was great to get a 90K crowd, it's also nice not to be jam packed like sardines, and get a couple of seats to yourself.

know how you feel... I usually sit level 2A during the season and feel crowded if there is anyone within 4 rows of me !!

And with Collingwood having a massive amount of AFL members and Hawthorn surprisingly have very little, there may be some numbers that may have gone on Friday night instead go on Saturday night.

I queried the AFL as to why I wound up sitting in a Geelong section at the last game.  They replied with the following:

Quote

During the member pre-sale period each Club supporters have access to ticket within their club’s allocation. Whilst we try and keep this consistent across entire bays, this is sometimes not possible as we aim to ensure that club members have access to tickets across all different price categories (where available) at the one time.

So basically, you SHOULD be seated in your club's section, but they make no guarantees and I was just unlucky.

Same with a couple of Cats fans who were in amongst a sea of red and blue.

I almost felt sorry for them......................lol, who am i kidding!

Not getting ahead of myself, but I'm hearing that members are getting letters sent out regarding registration for Grand Final tickets, should we win this weekend?

Has anyone got their letter yet and shed some light on this? Still waiting for mine.

Received ours yesterday Jaded, mentioned it a few posts above but done some more reading since then.

The pic isn’t very clear sorry, these are the priority groups. Registration time for priority one is 8am - 12pm Wednesday the 19th should we beat Hawthorn. Priority 2 is between 1pm-5pm on the allocated day and Priority 3 is between 6pm-9pm on the allocated day.AD72907F-353D-4BCC-A812-D43F1108ADF1.jpeg.a16c4f13dedd99f5e2c71756d79c310c.jpeg

2018 GF ticket prices.

Prices vary from Cat 1 $410 to Cat 7 $180.

Restricted view/Standing $150.

Basically we need to register within the time allocated for your priority and that has no bearing on what category or tickets you’re allocated. Credit cards are required to have sufficient funds on the day as the system will charge the cards without notification.

yep... received last night... all self explanatory:

it is an AFL requirement that the six remaining clubs be notified at this time (isn't that a nice feeling).

It allocates you a priority 1, 2 or 3 and you need to register on Wednesday next if we win on Friday night. Different times for each priority.

Then IF we win the prelim the process allocates the tickets by ballot if necesary

It's a bit wordy but relatively simple.

Is the priority 1,2,3 random or is it by membership type?

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
