Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Easily got three tix Q49 12 rows in. I'll be taking a Geelong fan so hopefully he feels like being deep in enemy territory. Not fussed about level 4, usually sit in tridents so prefer being up high to ground level.

Let's not forget MCC reserved seats and visitor passes sold out very quickly, I'm tipping the reserve will be at capacity, crowd should easily be 70,000 plus.

That game was Saturday afternoon in March on a good day. I will stay with 60 tops.

I'm guessing 70k max.

They are fickle folk down the highway - They don't like traveling up the road for Friday night games - Last year they didn't turn out for Friday night finals vs Richmond and Sydney.

About 30,000 tickets were sold today to mfc/gfc members so about 5-10k to still be sold to general public.  And the MCC will probably be quite full.

BUT, AFL members, Corporates and 'Finals Series Package' holders have rights to the rest of the G and I wouldn't be surprised if those areas are relatively empty.

I can imagine there will be more Demon fans than Cats fans - a good thing really!

So you reckon 40 each from Cats and Dees Dr?

we only have 45 k total so we need nearly 90% to turn up.

I am struggling with that.

Rich v Grelong got 95k last year first game of finals, I’m going to say 69k. I rekon there are a bunch of dees supporters who are not members who will come out of the woodwork. We got 37k to Melb v GWS and only about 1k of those were GWS fans. If we get similar numbers to the final, that only leaves 33k Geelong fans to rock up to hit 69k.

Now that I think of it I reckon we are more likely to see 70k+

Plus Geelong have 63k members. Add 63k to 44k =107k, if 70% turn up that’s over 70k

I think just on 90k as the only time the Melbourne support in the MCC is ever challenged is when we play the cats. With all reserved seating sold out in there, and Melbourne not playing for 12 years, I think will bring a massive Melbourne support out. Too bad it's late at night for young families but that's how channel 7 want it and the AFL fall over backwards all for the $$$$$$$$$'s

P.S. AFL. Just watch the crowds for Melbourne over the finals period and realize they have a massive support in the wings. Decades of poor results have not attracted them to matches - unfortunately.

A question.

If someone buys a ticket but falls over in the street on the way to the game breaks a leg and spends the night in hospital are they counted as attending?

Just curious.

Interestingly for home and away games kids that can enter free do so without a ticket so aren’t counted in the attendance figures. Not sure if it’s the same for finals.

My 5yo has just wandered trough the gate 7 times this year without any form of ticket

waiting on the ticket site to buy my AFL members tickets.... as others have mentioned amazing that it does not give you a queuing time estimate.

Just encourages people to try and open multiple sessions which further overloads the system

I was in the queue for 5 minutes, by 9:01 I was in, 9:06 had my tickets. Right on the wing, level 1, undercover.

Got the tickets... tried for level 2A but nothing so down at ground level...

Be surprised if they get many more than 70k there ... will be interesting to see if the holders of the series tickets turn up.

Does anyone know how many guest passes per member they were allowing for sale in the AFL reserve

from afl.com:

"Since sales for the two MCG finals resumed, 40,000 tickets have been sold to Richmond and Hawthorn club members, while 25,000 tickets have been sold to Melbourne and Geelong members after sales resumed for that game later on Wednesday."

Suggests there are at least 15000 more members tickets available.

You have some 180k members scrambling for tickets vs around 100k for Melb v Geelong. Suspect that MCC and AFL members will be full.

Either way they won't be able to use their ticket themselves. Are you planning something OD?

No MR just wondering how the AFL compile their attendance figures.

10 day forecast for Friday week looking mediocre:

60% chance of showers with a maximum of 14 with winds of 24kph.

Thursday looking quite wet

Hoping the Thursday is a slogfest to tire out whomever we play week 2!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
