Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Finals Tickets

I just bought my niece as a membership so I can take her to finals?.

Regarding finals ticket purchase the club email said:

" We will be sending an email to members with their barcodes and full details about how to purchase finals tickets on Sunday, so as long as she has that email it will have the barcode she needs to use on it.  The barcode is different to the member number, it is on the back of the card but we will confirm it via email as well.  I also need to let you know that all new memberships need to be purchased by 5pm on Friday, 24 August".

Clearly the club was taking no chances of repeating last years trauma of finals ticket details sent before we made it.  Good move to wait till our last game.

But importantly, if anyone wants to ensure a finals ticket then it is worth getting a membership.  A 3-game membership will be sufficient to have member priority ticket purchase ie before the general public.

Priority purchase may be important if we end up playing at a smaller ground or at the MCG vs a big member club like Rich/Coll/Hawth.

Go Dees!

I think those who purchase memberships after the cut-off date for official memberships should be excluded from purchasing finals tickets, quite frankly. I love those that resist a membership all year and then sign on once we are in the finals. Where is the reward for those who have paid their dues for years and years with no hope of finals.

Lucifer, I appreciate that your niece is young and not trying to have a go, but there are a lot of MFC 'supporters' who refuse to buy club membership unless we make finals. It is as fair weather as it gets.

Some fair comments from a member view.

I suspect the club is happy to get the revenue and importantly have another member to sell next year's membership.

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/sunday-session-afl-open-to-four-mcg-finals-in-week-one-20180820-p4zyjv.html

"... it’s understood the AFL are contemplating playing one final on each of Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday if the four MCG tenant clubs finish 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th. This would allow the MCG to host all four week one finals. The AFL won’t confirm its week one finals fixture until after the top eight finishing order is confirmed.

... The Hawks are aware they would be the likely candidate to again host a final at Docklands if the AFL opted to head down that path.

We have won on every stadium (except Geelong) we played on this year so I don't fear any arena.  But how good to see the red and blue at the G in September.

Win and we most likely play Geelong at the MCG

Lose and we most likely play GWS in Sydney at the Sydney showgrounds.

Am I correct .... assuming Geelong and Collingwood win which are both high probabilities?

PS: Oh wait a minute that Hawks v Sydney game can change a few things ...my head is hurting

Yes you are correct as the loser of Sydney v Hawks would finish 6th.

Unless they have a draw. In which case we would finish 6th if we won. GWS will still finish 4th if they beat us and Sydney or Hawk win. The Eagles can even drop to 4th if they lose. Still a very tight fight for spots in the eight.

Does anyone know when we would likely be playing? I will be heading over from Perth and hoping we don’t get the Thursday night game

If Meth Coast finish 2nd I reckon they get Thursday night

Interesting concept the Thursday night....

Presumably the next week will be Friday and Saturday night.

The loser of the matches between the top four will most likely be rewarded by the longer break but I assume it will only be one day extra.

So I think you can have a good guess at working out the order

Based on last years finals something like this:

Thursday night 2 v 3

Friday night 1 v 4

Saturday 5 v 8

Sat night 6 v 7

that gives the top 4 a two day break advantage when it only needs to be one.

Didn't realise they did that last year. I was still getting over Round 23.

Highly unlikely the Thursday night game would be in Melbourne I'd say that would be an interstate game if all games were in Melbourne I think they may play a Sunday game. If results go as they should my guess would be this:

 Thursday: WC vs Collingwood(optus)

Friday: Richmond vs Sydney(MCG)

Saturday Twlight: Hawthorn vs GWS (Etihad)

Saturday night: Melbourne vs Geelong (MCG)

If we beat GWS, I reckon it will be:

THU 8:10 - WCE (2) V Collingwood (3) - Optus

FRI 7:50 - Richmond (1) V Sydney (4) - MCG

SAT 7:45 - Melbourne (5) V Geelong (8) - MCG

Sun 3:20 - Hawthorn (6) V GWS (7) - MCG

(or Hawks V GWS at Etihad Saturday arvo just to pizz Kennett off!)

If we lose to GWS, I reckon it will be:

THU 8:10 - WCE (2) V Collingwood (3) - Optus

FRI 7:50 - Richmond (1) V Sydney (4) - MCG

SAT 4:10 - GWS (5) V Melbourne (8) - Spotless

SAT 7:45 - Hawthorn (6) V Geelong (7) - MCG

I think the AFL would have the Hawks V GWS game at the G on the Sunday.

I was under the impression Etihad would only be used if there were 4 VIC finals.

But if the AFL don't want a Sunday final, then you could be right.

Very true. Makes sense to play it on a Sunday arvo, I'm not sure why they don't use that time slot for finals these days regardless.. I think the Saturday twlight is a shocking time for a final

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
