Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I dislike West Coast and I also think Adam Simpson is a very good coach. There's something satisfying about beating them that's rare for a non Victorian team.

The feeling is completely different isn't it. Beat Pies and youshout from the rooftops. Beat WC over there when they're second on the ladder... You almost don't know what to do. Your cup overflows. One of the biggest things is, it could be ten years before you do it again.

Roosy On the Couch highlighted the below Jones’ effort in the last quarter as a critical contest for us regaining the lead. The ‘ Toe Poke’!

Getting pushed by Yeo, Jones shows his determination by winning the ball any way possible. Controls the ball with his foot, picks it up, handballs to Gawn and the rest is history.

I'm critical of our older players and leaders, to his credit (Jones) he stood up well in the last 10mins after only having 4 kicks to half time from memory. What he did in the last 10 mins though is what should be expected of him each time we play the better teams, after all he is the captain. I thought he was quite poor before that but he needed to step up and did, so too Lewis. Jones' season has been sliding all year and hopefully he gets a chance to hold up the cup in appreciation of his loyalty. Still IMO an average player and poor leader but I'll be cheering him on in the next 6 weeks.

What a strange post. That graph seems to show that Jones is better now than he was in '15 and '16 and still better than he was to start 2017, or do we just ignore that?

Also the majority of the drop off has been since Jones started playing more time on the wing thanks to the emergence of Harmes and Brayshaw. Jones' first 5-10 weeks this year playing on ball due to Viney's injury was probably about as well as he's ever played.

He's not the player he once was but still is way better than an average player, even with some limitations on his ball use and decision making as he adapts to a new role on the wing. Poor leader? Well that comes down to how much you can rate a leader when for years they've had little to work with. Jones was doing his utmost against Sydney and a few bad decisions aside he gave it his all. He was doing the same against the Eagles and the team was resilient and smart. The notion that the captain has to be best player is incredibly outdated. The captain has to be strong, smart and give their all, but they need leaders and players to stand up in every part of the ground. Luke Hodge used to win all the awards as best captain yet in close games most of the time it was Mitchell, Lewis or in particular Burgoyne who made the clutch plays.

Well said DeeSpencer. This Nate Jones bashing has become very tiresome. The guy bleeds red and blue, he is a true club legend. The best part about Sunday was that vision of him at the final siren. It epitomised the feelings a lot of us have shared in this thread......pure joy.

Just thought I'd mention Salem - his calmness and superb disposal is a huge plus for us. Kicked a beautiful right footer into the middle at a crucial moment, too.

2nd best on ground for us in the last quarter. Milkshake won it, but Salem and Jetta stopped us from losing it.

Even if we bomb out of the first round of the finals, we'll probably be touted as joint-premiership favourites next year by bookies and media alike - such is the unique nature of our team. And if we add Gaff . . .

Like how we were touted as the best Victorian team going into 2007.

The best part next season we will have more prime time matches being  the most dynamic and entertaining team around.

Downside , members areas are going to be considerably more crowded with longer queues etc etc . With a flood of new premium members flocking  to get on our bandwagon .But I’ll take that with pleasure !

This is a non-trivial issue. Whilst I welcome my fellow Demonlanders and long-suffering MFCSS afflicted comrades, I do look askance when someone is sitting in the seat where I endured the Dark Years (© MFC) in silent and no-so-silent lonely suffering. "Where were you", I think to myself, "when Neeld gave Morton that huge spray"... "Where were you, indeed, when we 'didn't see that coming', and Essendon beat us by by five million points".

Just kidding - more the merrier - raise hell on Sunday!!! :)

Salem has had a fantastic year. Top 3 in our best and fairest is a possibility.

He really has been very good.   Id like to see him get more touches than the 20 hes averaging, but the fact is that 20 Salem touches are more valuable than most other players that get 25-30 a game. He rarely wastes a kick.

And his toughness is underrated.  He is hard as nails.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
