Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Awesome day at the footy for me as well. Was sat with my two kids in the Melbourne allotment, middle tier forward pocket at the end we attacked in the first quarter and what a start they gave us. Harmesey best on for mine by a mile, has really taken his game to a new level. Thought we got a really good run of it from the umps and viewing the replay has only confirmed what I suspected watching it live. Of course the overwhelming booing and complaining Eagles crowd made it feel even more so that we had gotten away with murder.

What a fantastic stadium to watch footy at I must say. Atmosphere in that last quarter was electric, can't believe they fought back to win after going behind. Real character building stuff. To be honest I was quite confident that we'd go alright before the game, and only really panicked for about five minutes in the last quarter. We need to do something about our defence though, God we get sliced open so easily from the back 50.

Highlight of the day was the passage of play that lead to Kents mark and set shot. Harmesey the architect, what a star. When he  kicked truly, the supporters around us all looking at each other in disbelief saying "we're going to play finals!"

To top off the day, Jonesy handed my son a footy at the end of the match and we proceeded to wander around the concourse high fiving other random Demons fans.

Go you redlegs!!!

Yes was a great day I was at the other end with the cheer squad. My son went down to the fence to hopefully get a footy but missed out. When he came back up to me I happily showed him one I marked which big Maxy threw in.

The train journey home was interesting played it's a Grand old flag on my phone only for a couple of Meth Coast supporters to tell me to thank the umps to which I replied yes of course I forgot every you lose its down to the umpires never anything to do with your side. To which a woman late 50s/early 60s said that's nasty and I just politely said really is it that difficult to just say we were beaten by the better team on the day. I had 4 kids with me 3 of whom were Meth Coast supporters with their colours on and I think the woman was quite embarrased with my reply and the fact I didn't react in appropriate manner to her comment

Love that story! Apart from the West Coast supporter drivel of course. Everything else is what you go to the footy for! :)

Layzie they are pathetic been top dog pampered supporters in this town for so long with local media who up until recently never dared to really challenge their club.

Our last three games vs West Coast have all been in Perth... we have had 2 wins and 1 loss, which was by less than a goal.

I was gonna whine that we never get to play them in Melbourne,  but they are our bunnies over there now, a sweet feeling after they dominated us for the best part of a decade when we were terrible.

We have a hoodoo!!

Last week when West Coast beat Port, some clown went on the Port wiki page and changed the opening paragraph to "Port Adelaide football club is a club playing in the AFL, that is currently owned by the West Coast Eagles" or words to that effect.

I kind of wish some clever dick would do that for us, given the last two tight results against them over there.

I think they've beat them 5 times in a row in Adelaide and beat them in extra time in a final and then with a kick after the siren. We've still got some work to do to catch that!

I dislike West Coast and I also think Adam Simpson is a very good coach. There's something satisfying about beating them that's rare for a non Victorian team.

Final Round year 2000. we smashed West Coast in West Coast. I was there - did my grad dip in Perth that year, must have been 3 Demons in the crowd and a cheer squad of 10. Bluey Mckenna's final game for the Eagles.....

Only fitting we go very [censored] Deep from here

I can’t find any reference on DEMONLAND to the small contre-temps between Jetta and LeCras after the final siren. Does anyone know what that was about?

It is the ladder that says what would happen if the team that lost the close games won them instead. So what would happen this year if the teams that lost games by 10 points or less won them?

The answer?  Melbourne would be two games clear on top of the ladder. Decisively the best team in it, two games clear of Richmond on top.

My favourite moment (apart from winning) was at the final siren when the cameras were on Jones and the pure joy and elation on his face was amazing to see.

If the Demonland mods could somehow put that part on here for all to see I think everyone would enjoy seeing it.

Does this help?

I guess this thing doesn't play .avi's huh?

According to my possibly shonky workings:

AFL Alternative Ladder (10 points or less reversals):

Melbourne       18        3

Richmond       15        6

Collingwood   14        7

Geelong           13        8

West Coast      13        8

Port Adelaide  13        8

Essendon         13        8

GWS               12        8

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

North               12        9

Hawthorn        11        10

Sydney            11        10

Adelaide         10        11

Other thoughts post-match.

Even if we bomb out of the first round of the finals, we'll probably be touted as joint-premiership favourites next year by bookies and media alike - such is the unique nature of our team. And if we add Gaff . . .

That ANB tackle in the forward-50 in first quarter was just fantastic.

Something else I've forgotten.

The best part next season we will have more prime time matches being  the most dynamic and entertaining team around.

Downside , members areas are going to be considerably more crowded with longer queues etc etc . With a flood of new premium members flocking  to get on our bandwagon .But I’ll take that with pleasure !

Was that the one he appeared from nowhere and ripped the WCE to the ground?

I can barely remember the last quarter so yes someone sharing would be good.

Beers, win and G&T from first bounce.

I'll have to treat myself to a complete replay.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
