Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Final Round year 2000. we smashed West Coast in West Coast. I was there - did my grad dip in Perth that year, must have been 3 Demons in the crowd and a cheer squad of 10. Bluey Mckenna's final game for the Eagles.....

Only fitting we go very [censored] Deep from here

I was there as well. Took my dad who past away just after that. He was Essendon but cheered for us that day. Was able to sprinkle some of him on the "G" after the grannie.

Goodwin says it best:

"I am so happy for our supporters right now...They have had 12 years of misery, but now they have a team they can really get in behind and support and build some momentum from here."

I look forward to a new narrative from all the media 'experts' harping on about 'can't be trusted' and 'mentally weak'.

The guys showed today, how badly they want finals.  Very proud day for every demon fan.

This is so true LH, 3 generations of our family were together watching today, (some more intently than others!), but the joy was shared equally. My kids for example have grown up watching the Dees fail over the last 12 years, and I was born the year we last won the flag, so equally no joy for anyone. Then the really olds desperately want a little success before they fall of the perch.

It’s well documented how little success we’ve had in recent times but it’s quite nice that this matchup has given us some joy over the journey.

1998 - Robbo comes to the party and boots 4 to win by 17 points. Turns the season around.

2002 - Neita kicks 7 and we win a thriller at the then ‘House of pain’. We go on to make the 8.

2017 - T-Mac!!

2018 - YESSSSSSSS

Obviously you didn't sit with the Western Dee's group and then go to the aftermath int he Subaico clubroom where Joe Gutnick was trying to rev's us up :)      We had a big demon crowd that day, like at today's game.  It was also our greatest winning margin agains them.

Great game today, bets I have seen them play for awhile.  Kept pressure on all day and trusted their teammates so we could keep the ball moving forward.  Still some mistakes but the pressure kept WC getting the better of them.

Seriously kidding themselves. It was in play. AVB wasn’t even looking and the guy he “hit” played very well for the rest of the game.

The Oscar tackle was a perfect tackle. Just unfortunate that Darling hit his head.

The possibility of meeting Geelong in an elimination final is f’ing salivating. The opportunity to finally bury them would be very welcome.

Nothing would make me happier than [censored] smashing those pricks. God I hate them so much. What a sweet sweet story that would be!

If so, not sure why Jetta would be losing it like he was. You would just walk away as you had won. I think Goody was either guessing or hosing it down.

There was more to it. We haven’t seen Jetta get that worked up before that I can remember.

Agreed. Never seen Jetta fight let alone look so mad. Even his teammates couldn’t break it up. I suspect something very inappropriate was said to Nev.

Great result, the Dees deserved to win and win they did.  I hope we can now follow this up with a win against GWS, that would get us really primed for the finals where we hopefully play, Sydney, Geelong or Hawthorn, all 3 are certainly beatable.  I just hope whoever we play in the coming weeks continues to think we are flat track bullies and underestimates us.  I hope the team now has the self-belief to now win some finals

Perhaps the AFL realize that a Melbourne home game in the finals will pull 70-85k at least. Maybe, JUST MAYBE, a directive was issued to ensure that will happen. I was blown away with what I thought was a fair umpiring display for both teams. Sure they missed some for both teams but generally a balanced performance by them.

How good was that! Milkshake is crucial to this club. Harmes was awesome. Jonesy played a captain's game. Gus, Clarry and Maxxy solid as always. Loved the INs. Hannan was fantastic. Didn't hit the scoreboard (kicks were woeful), but I really liked what I saw from Weids. He's going to be a great contributor. Even Kent gave a little in the second half.

Modelling for the finals:

First good news (from a 'I don't like the Roos' perspective) is it doesn't look like they can make it from here, same as Port as they need the cats to lose to the suns... Yikes.

If we win (regardless of hawks Sydney game) we finish 5 and we play cats at G.

If we lose and Hawks win, we play Sydney over there.

If we lose and Swans win, we play Hawks at G.

I really don't know what I prefer. I'd rather win (obv) and knock the cats out of the finals. Can't lose to them 3x in a year, right? Plus, it would be great for the story to knock the cats out of the finals!

BRING IT!

Not entirely - if we lose, Geelong could pass us on percentage (they gained 8% from their win over Fremantle so if they do a similar number on GC it's not out of the question). So it's possible we slip to 8th, which would lead to a repeat game against GWS at Spotless (or 100,000 going to the G if Fremantle can beat Collingwood).

Nor will that.

Well that's reverse happy

+150, -150?

Pretty sure this won't either.

Port Adelaide is currently +148 in points for/against. We're +505. So that's a 357 point "buffer" we have on them. I think that means, if I'm doing this right, that it's something like 175-point margins in both games.

The Rev was the last coach to take us to finals so very fitting that he gets to enjoy seeing us in Sept again.

I always like it on QB that he does his duty addressing the Pies team but shows his emotion and love for the Dees when he addresses our boys...and proudly wears his Demons scarf.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
