Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Of which he only had 1 inside 50, zero goal assists, 2 clearances and kicked 0.0. He does no damage at all with what little of the ball he gets.

7 of those 14 disposals were part of scoring chains.

Yep Hib, Weed, Melk and Kent for Hunt, Hogan, Pedo and Spargo.

Get rid of that list clogger JKH for Hannan and we have the right side to take on Meth Coast.

A bigger expanse of space to cover.  I think JKH stays in for his run _

Melky obv's in.

Weide in for Hogan.

Kent in or Hannan in ???   I would like to see Kent on the bigger ground, in his home state.

I think Spargo goes out, with Fritta...   Both fatigued.    IF we get in, we'll need both boys fit and mentally freshened in 2 weeks time.

Garlett on thin ice,  did not contest a mark in the goal square in the 3rd...  allowed the Swans a simple mark and clear the ball, without any earning it at all. He hoped the swan player would simply drop the mark. ?

With that, i'm unsure of Hunt, maybe stays for one more on the big spacious ground ?

I would keep Pedo in for cover, both down back and following...  and can help Weide out if necessary.  Pedo knows Weides game well.

If we want to lose keep JKH in. He gives us nothing.

Hunt is injured.

Pedo was hopeless at doing that last week what would make you think he'd do a better job this week? Another list clogger must go.

Not keen on Weideman replacing Hogan. He hasn't shown anything in his games this year he's ready... As bad as Pedersen was I'd keep him in to releave TMac of ruck duties. I wouldn't mind seeing Hannan back into the side, he's a proven goal kicker. Play Petracca as a permanent forward also.

In: Hannan, Melksham, Hibberd

Out: Hogan, JKH, Spargo

I’d prefer Weed over Pedo.   The kid just needs some confidence in the seniors.  If he has a break out game it will be a massive boost.

In:  Hannan, Weed, Melky, Hibberd

Out: Vanders, Hogan, Hunt and Pedo.

Vanders has to go out.  He was suppose to play on Allir Allir on Sunday and he tore us apart.

While Hogan is a loss we have won without him before, sometimes even done better without him because we often look for him too often and when he is not playing well that means a lot of opposition rebounds.  Time to give weed ago, he is our future and will learn a lot more from the experience and than pedo, who is unlikely to be on our list next year. Giving weed's a couple of important games and possibly finals may spur him on to do better.

JKH was drafted at pick 40 back 6 years ago. He's 24 years old next season, and in the oldest 1/3 of players on the list now. He's hasn't had an injury since 2016, so has had plenty of time to build his endurance and strength. He's simply not up to it. As a club, these are the types of players we need to move on quicker from the list. They should only be kept for depth if lacking in a specific area.

The changes for this week should be:

In - Hibberd, Melksham, Kent

Out - Hunt, Pedo, Spargo

True he is older than some players, how old was Jetta when he was swung into the backline as his last chance to prove himself.

He tore us apart because we refused to kick to avb’s advantage. And avb still kicked 3... With Hogan out, avb isn’t going anywhere.

I agree the delivery to him was very average but I assume his job was to take Allir away from the play and this didn’t happen.

You might be right though and they might have another go at it with him on McGovern.

i still don't get why Hannan isn't in our best 22?? very poised around goal and a natural footballer.. pretty sure he doesn't have the yips in front of goal too often... Weed or Pedo is tough one... Pedo could maybe stay in and be used to stay exclusively on Mcgovern and to force a contest anytime he goes near it... i fear if Weed plays down there Mcgovern will be too strong and poised and cut off every long bomb.

Think Kent/Hannan/Melksham/Hibberd are definite must ins for HUNT SPARGO HOGAN NEAL BULLEN but no way bullen loses his spot lol

Hannan can be very good, but goes missing a lot, that’s why he isn’t in the team!

Forget about Weideman, my intel is that he will be seeking a trade to Geelong at seasons end. A very close relative of mine knows him

If some of us think we will be a better side without Hogan then trading him is not such a bad idea. If the Hogan factor is partially responsible for our lack of goals, then why not turn him into a defender.

We are highest scoring team in the comp. There is nothing wrong with Hogan or our goal kicking.

I'll be fascinated to see how many changes we make this week. I've read a stat about teams having a very low chance of winning if they have more than three changes. I reckon there's something to keeping the team together for chemistry reasons, but on the other hand most good sides/teams in good form simply don't need to make more than three changes, so I don't know if the link is causal.

Hogan and Hunt are out with injuries and Hibberd and Melksham are best 22, so there are two easy changes.

Surely Spargo must be dropped, and that takes us to three changes. He had an absolute 'mare on the weekend, and I blame the selection panel - he should have been omitted weeks ago. Hannan and Kent are waiting in the wings, and although Hannan was the 'carry over' emergency it's now been a while since he's played and Kent seemingly had a good game at Casey.

I also think JKH was horrible on the weekend, and I reckon he has been on thin ice since he nabbed a spot in the team due to injuries, so I'd say bringing in the other of Hannan or Kent for JKH would make us stronger.

There's also what we do with Pedo, and whether he takes Hogan's KPF spot. If we bring in Weid (who, based on Casey match reports, is ahead of Tim Smith ATM), I think Pedo gets the chop and then there's at least three changes - but quite possibly four or five.

Isn't Optus Stadium pretty much the same size as the MCG?

Anyway, Hunt's out injured.

He was out of the side with a 'jarred knee' a few weeks back and due to injury he hasn't played any footy since then. This week he was fit to play, but we elected to make just two changes to a side who had a big win last week. He didn't play at Casey, because he was the 'carry over' emergency.

I also think that what we might see as 'go missing' is actually 'playing injured'. I'm keen to see what he can do next year, if he can get his body right.

Vanders on Alir was a crappy match up.

AVB was never going to beat him in the air the way it was bombed in. It was almost like we were passing it to Alir for most of the day.

Worked well for Mitch Clark

Collingwood were the only winners in that 3-way with Varcoe still playing. So with that in mind, maybe we should request one of their high draft pick young indigenous players. Nakia Cockatoo perhaps.

You did see Hunt limp off? You do know he is out for 2-4 weeks? You still considering him for this week?

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
