Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm dirty on this loss, but I'll let the rest of the usual suspects lose the plot, slash their wrists and do the usual ranting and raving.  Seriously, go right ahead.

We lost this game today in front of goal.  Sure, they cut us up during periods of the game with their use by foot and our willingness to allow them space.  But we should never have let them win this game of footy.  When Hogan goaled and we were 3.7 it should have been 7.3, as we missed a slew of easy shots.  If we were 6 goals up then they would have been dead and buried.  But they weren't, they got a sniff and, as experienced sides do, they made their chances count when we didn't and we couldn't haul them back.

I must admit that I was bemused at times by some of our decision making, and the implied pressure of the Swans meant that we rushed things at times when we didn't need to.  We had every opportunity to win this game of footy, but we didn't make it count, and that's down to composure and skill execution under pressure.  It's not down to leadership and all that stuff.  We just didn't execute well under pressure.

We certainly lacked some class at times and too many players went missing, but this isn't the end of the world.  Seriously, it's not.  We've got two games to go - win one and we're in.  Simple as that.

you're truly delusional. you don't lose games like that and factor in september. they were 2 players down and somehow managed to smash us in uncontested possessions. that is inexcusable.

Furious. All my family deserted me and left me stomping around the living room groaning and grimacing at:

Un-pressured turnovers (how many times in a single season am I going to type or say that word? Did some of the Sydney players have Melbourne jumpers on?)

Kicking. Goal kicking. Field kicking.

2nd to the ball - almost all day. Beaten by unknown lumps in Sydney jumpers who simply got in first.

Some very poor performances: Pederson, Jeffy, Spargo, Hunt, JKH,.

And if not for Harmes we would have been flogged.

continuously bombing it into allir is a rookie mistake. the only time we looked like scoring was when harmes started to run and carry. however the biggest disappointment was the lack of 2 way running. lots of loose Sydney mids everywhere . this has been a recurring theme every game this year. ffs run the players harder at training

Lost it in front of Goal shocking decisions.  The worst was playing on inside 50 from a mark?  Why, if you can't kick it least put in 15m out and create a contest.  Sydney really well drilled and cool under pressure.  Running kicking efficiency at 82% amazing

We juts need never to be favourites and we win, once people back us we wilt.

Real risk of missing finals now. Not that it matters, we can't defeat 'real' top 8 sides. We would be just making up the numbers. I wish we could kick straight, reminds me of the port game.

Except that it does matter...because we know that the MFC will need one finals series with the excuse of 'it was our first finals series in ages so we were a bit overawed'. Now we may have to wait another 12 months to get that one out  of the way.

We bombed the ball inside 50. It was like Brent Moloney re-incarnated everytime we got the ball outside 50. Yeah, just bomb it in boys, that will do it. We haven't beaten a team inside the top 9. I don't know what it would take to sound out an experienced coach, but we need to do so whilst we have a quality list. There is no excuse to not lower your eyes going inside 50.

Or around the arc...if you cant find a target inside go around and at least retain possession.  The rated clubs do this.

We are far too predictable in so many ways once the ball passed mid field

You can keep apologizing and excusing the team. I applaud your optimism and blind faith.

I want wins. I want success. Nothing else matters

20 v 22 for the whole match and they still won. A disgrace.

I saw some comments in the gameday thread about which method of losing would be the most Melbourne thing of all.

To squander early possession, give up a big lead, then claw it back and leave not enough time to get in front, that is the most Melbourne thing of all.

Watch us now blow it against WCE and drop out of the 8, then put in a huge effort against GWS where we fight gallantly and miss out on percentage again.

Another year down the drain.

FFS i have been as positive as anyone for the last 2 months... even the Pollyannas who can never see a single bad thing about us.

I was wrong. Really, REALLY wrong.  Today was the day. Today. Not next week, not round 23.... TODAY.

We won't ever be a genuine threat whilst our so-called leadership is so insipid when we need them. I have been a huge supporter of Jonesy over the years, but I owe an apology to all the posters who claimed he wasn't much chop as a leader. You were right and I was wrong. Unless you manage to drag us over the line in one of the remaining games Nathan, you don't deserve to be captain of this club.

I am just so fukking angry AGAIN right now. You bastards owe me a new liver and 2 kidneys for all the alcohol I have consumed to cope with the disappointment you lot have inflicted.

ANOTHER WASTED YEAR!!!!!!!!!

AAARRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

*Pulls hair out.

P.S. Trade Hogan while he is worth something.

(My 76-year-old father just called while I was typing this.... he said "2 more weeks and the suffering is over"..... I practically screamed at him to GAGF.

I hate what this club has done to me.

Kick straight and we win. Bad kicking is bad football, no doubt, but outside of the second half of the second term we were generally a better side.

It's as simple as that.

I actually think we might beat West Coast over there.  The ground dimensions suit us. We can't defend space and are absolutely shizen on the MCG.  I have no faith in Garlett or ANB in the furnace of pressure football.

Lost the game at selection, we picked a side that was too tall/too slow, they made the ground large and their smalls were always dangerous.

Also, is any one else frustrated that we have the slowest and least agile smalls in ever. Gartlett and Hannan have speed and lateral movement but Spargo, JKH, Neal-Bullen(who can run) are slowish and very easily turned.

Why the hell did they bring in Hunt? '

I said on the DL podcast that he was out of form all year and off an injury had 1 quiet game in the 2's..... no surprises he had a shocker of a game

Boys did well to try and claw back in the last but once again inaccuracy costs us probably another finals berth

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
