Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

(Hawthorn vs Geelong) Geelong win is very important, hawthorn have harder run home and so if they lose against Geelong and lose to Sydney in the last round, they could possibly miss out, Geelong on the other hand have a very easy run home with their last two games at home against freo and gold coast. this leads me to believe that Geelong will make the 8 easily provided they win today and Hawthorn could miss out. a draw would be the worst possible scenario, that means both clubs could move ahead of us is we lose, worst possible scenario.

If Geelong win, it is quite possible cats and hawks end the season on 14 wins which means we’d miss the 8 if we only beat Sydney. So I’m on the Hawks 100%

(Power vs eagles) eagle win is also very important, port is on 48 with us and we can't catch up to the Eagles so we could possibly pull away from port should they lose.

We can’t catch the Eagles hey.

amazing, you spent so much time doing a write up on a topic you clearly have no idea about. Port, the we beat Eagles, we are above them.

Do you need that repeated?

This is my issue... Christian when explaining the May bump on Curnow said that he went past the ball but because the ball was within 5m he was allowed to bump (so long as it wasn't high) - that has never been the interpretation. Once the player has disposed of the ball anything late is illegal. Christian changed the rule interpretation and I said it would come back to bite him.

3 weeks later it has. Brown should argue that that the ball was within 5m (it looked that way on TV) and the bump wasn't high therefore no case to answer.

But i don't think any of us think this is the right interpretation. Yet again the MRP stuffs up what should be a simple determination. I watch with interest.

This is blatantly wrong.  Plenty of people know that the rule has always been within 5m of the ball. It's not an interpretation, it is - and has been - the written rule.

The is no such thing as "late". That is a common "interpretation" of how to judge the 5m rule.

After the ball is disposed of by Saad and is about 10 metres away from him and is just about to be caught by Tip-Mc, while Saad is looking at the ball, Nathan Brown takes 3-4 steps and bumps Saad, who didn't see him coming. The bump is illegal and the consequence is a factor. Brown will be suspended

This is correct.

The issue here isn't that it was after he had already disposed of it, it is that the force of the bump was significantly more than the player was expecting given: that the player had slowed, that he was not moving to a position to be involved in the next phase ofplay, and he was clearly not expecting contact.

In those circumstances, assuming the ball was within 5m, Brown could bump with lower force, e.g. sufficient enough to hinder Saads run towards the ball, but not such that he cleaned him up.

Its really simple, and it's clearly in the rules.  I don't understand why some people don't get it.

When I was a kid my Dad use to tell me never trust a bald man with a beard.

So you don't trust big Maxy then? He is virtually bald.

But geelong have an easy last 2 games, but if they lose today then they still sit outisde the 8.

I see Hawkins has 1 goal 2. If he was playing us he would have 3 goals. But that was a good quarter by the hawks.

the eagles have an easier run home than us and i think that it would be extremely hard to catch the eagles,  however i do not disagree with your above statement, no need for the anger.

also my post was just an opinion about who i think MFC want to win, you me and everybody on here is entitled to their own opinion no matter whether you think it is wrong or right.

So you think the MFC don’t want to finish second.

Again, it is not rocket science, if Port win at home, we then beat the Eagles (without a few of their stars - very feasible), then we have caught the Eagles, something you wrote as fact, not opinion...

Jumping between games, I've noticed that the Suns have employed their own bugler in their cheer squad.

Did they seriously not think that wouldn't lead to disaster? Buglers in football clubs = said club nearly becoming extinct.

They've been a good club for 40 years. At a certain point it's not luck.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
