Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 21

The changes are very interesting, I feel like Hunt will take up Smiths place in the line up and be given a bit of license to do what he did so well last year (though I also hope they’ve told him to lower the eyes). Vince’s place in the team might be creatively covered through rotations while Pederson could provide a marking option on the HFF.

I also think that getting Pedders in is about giving Max less rucking duties to give him an easy week on the park. I can picture Max spending a little more time forward.

Whenever Pederson is rucking our onballers are going to have to work extra hard to win it, though having Pederson in the ruck last year did prove to be beneficial at times where he’d be more mobile than the traditional ruckmen.

Of course these are just my thoughts, I could be completely wrong (probably will be).

Very interesting week coming up.

I don't think so. The key will be how well we stop and/or pressure the ball coming him to him.

If their mids and medium forwards are kicking it in to him under minimal pressure he will kill whoever is on him and get a bag.

Tge other key will be drying up other scoring options. As i noted previously they will need to score close to 100 points to beat us and will happily give buddy 5-6 goals if he is the only scoring option.

One thing i really like about frost on buddy is that im sure goody will instruct him to run off buddy, which will exspose his current lack of fitness and pace.

If buddy is not scoring goals he is almost a liability, particularly on the wide spaces of the g, given how restricted he is (and how damaging his running is when fit).

Smart move to look to exspose/exploit this lack of pace and abilty to apply forward chasing pressure. The suggestion they might look to bring hunt in fots with this as his pace would further exploit buddys imabilty to chase or get up rhe ground.

I'm not worried about Budd getting the footy, as He WILL get it...   Its where he gets it that's my concern.  And that he isn't able to run freely with the footy. This is why I want Frost on his hammer.

I want Budd to have to range high and outside Fitty, to win the ball.  He can have the ball in his area, as long as we can control him with it.

I want us to jam up the Swans forwardline deep, forcing Budd way up high, with Frost who can run him down, if he gets past.

We need to work to keep him on his right side as much as possible and maintain him under pressure.

We have to be able to keep the space tight in our D50, so they can't get it in behind Buddy.

I think Frost playing close, with Hunt sweeping behind him just in-case he turns Frost around,,,  and running past Frost when frost has the ball.

I think this will be a dour game.

He is no lock down defender. If he comes in his job will be to run and carry and use his pace to exploit their lack of pace.

Its interesting, in 2016 he was a huge weapon for us and his run was a big part of our strategy but seemed to get worked out early this year. His poor kicking didn't help. But obviously being out of the side has meant other players like Salem have assumed greater importance and it has only been hibberd and more recently Frost who have really run and carried the ball from defence.  If he comes back in he is unlikely to be such a critical cog for us and therefore may not get the same focus from opposition coaches and so might get a bit of freedom and space.

I dont know if he 'got worked out'.

Hunts role and strength has been to run, bounce, break lines maybe bounce again then pump the ball quickly into the forward 50.

That play simply hasn't been in Goodwins game plan this year. We aim to move the ball quickly by playing on running your full measure if required and  disposing of the ball to an open player. If you take a bounce you have held onto it too long. I wouldn't be surprised if the boys are instructed not to bounce the ball unless 100% needed. The only times I can think of it happening is seeing Hibberd bouncing at full tilt to give himself a modicum more space before releasing from the back line or Melksham bouncing while going forward as their are no options ahead of him.

Hunt's strengths don't fit into our game plan at the moment. I think he really struggled not playing his natural game at the start of the year.

If you're JFK (and Vanders) you wouldn't want to play a poor game with Melksham and Hibberd due back next week.

Ok lets put a line through Viney, I don't care what the coaching staff HOPE

He wont play again this year.

That leaves JFK and Spargo as most vulnerable

Vanders gives some serious X Factor to our team and will only get better

I would not have Hunt out of this side again PACE and Grunt!

He stays

SO in reality it will be

Melksham and Hibberd for Spargo and JFK!

The rest stay including PEDO versatility and Vanders for X Factor

Looks a bloody good side with this scenario

Pity about Bernie because I rate him as a Bloke and player but unfortunately father time has caught up and you cannot play Lewis and Bernie in the same side!

I really think we’ve made a large selection error, unless Gawn is going to be a late change.

They have one actual key forward, who is athletic and we are going in with a larger and slower side even with the swap of Hunt for Vince. We do not need 3 proper key position sized players.

Watch Franklin play up the ground and Sydney score goals out the back. I think 3 key tall backs is a grave mistake against most forward lines, especially someone who covers the ground so poorly as Pederson.

Bloody heck, I hope I’m wrong but I think it would be a change that Sydney would appreciate

Bringing in hunt - A poor kick inable to consistently hit a target.

Pedersen's very quick for his size, and Jayden Hunt's one of the quickest in the AFL.

Three talls down back seems dumber than three talls up front.

Franklin and Mccartin, who else is a tall for them? Unless we think Aliir will play forward? It just seems a strange change. Think it weakens the team too.

I think Pedo is coming into support Frost.  I think you’ll find he will be 3rd man up against Franklin all day.

If they keep Franklin quiet, we win comfortably.

Dropping Vince did not cost us the game at all,or played any percentage of losing that game.

I agree with the fence. I like Spargo and hope he stays, but he is not quick, and his endurance is 'limited'.

Play Spargo on him that's his role.

But everybody tells me that ANB is the running and pressure king.

I would rather Spargo concentrates on things he can do, which is kick goals and use the ball well, things which ANB can't.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
