Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The one thing I really like about the next three games is that no one thinks we are a shoe in for any of them.

We don't think that ..... do we ???

Only trouble is they may be getting Rohan back, which makes their forward line that little bit more complex.

But the case is pretty clearly there for having an extra in defence to at least break even and mop up the mess. In what is likely to be a grinding game the last thing we want is for too many easy goals to slip through against us.

It is a necessity against Buddy, we do not want a repeat of Geelong and Hawkins leading into wide open spaces and slaughtering us again do we?

Hopefully Goody and his Goons are on top of this game day and the necessary plans are in place.

They've given us nothing with the teams. Extended bench because of a Sunday game, and only ANB a lock on that bench, with the other 3 from JKH, Bernie, weid, pedders, hunt, Kent and Hannan.

OFFICIAL CHANGES

OUT: J. Smith (Inj)

IN: Pedersen, Kent, Hunt, Hannan, Weideman

All the Ins are on the extended bench along with Vince, JKH and ANB.

My guess is Kent in and Fritsch to cover Smith's injury.

The emergency will be interesting assuming they are looking to cover Gawn. Could be Weideman who if needed to play would share ruck duties with Tom Mac.

In reality however the naming of the four extra players tells you little except that Wagner is definitely not in favour.

Will the GOONS think about it?

I'm sceptical about what the clubs says about Gawn's injury and, to be honest, given our recent track record I think I'm justified in being sceptical.

The messaging at the time of an injury always seems to play it down and take the best case scenario approach and with Hibberd, Viney and now Melksham, each time it's been worse than the initial messaging suggested.

So I am not convinced that just because Goodwin said he'll play that Gawn will actually play.

Regardless, it's almost impossible to work out what the final team is going to be, as there are so many permutations available. I can see either of Kent or Hannan coming in to play forward and using Fritsch more defensive. I can see Pedersen or Hunt getting Smith's spot as a direct swap. I can see Kent or Hannan getting JKH's spot or Hunt/Pedersen getting Vince's spot.

I think we'll minimise the changes and I think we'll bring in either Kent or Hunt to replace Smith with no other change. If Gawn doesn't play, though, I think we'll give Pedersen the first ruck role, as a reward for his efforts at Casey.

I did notice that his Brownlow odds went out from 10/1 to 15/1 during the week. Bookmakers can get better information sometimes.

Wallace on SEN made the point that the teams that have nullified Franklin have done so by having a mobile player on him and a marking player behind. If so this may mean Pederson gets the gig backing up Frost who will be his direct opponent.

Perhaps ANB out?  He's clocked up a power of kms- given SCG is smaller he could freshen for WC.

And JKH, it doesn't seem right to run him up to finals.

3 changes, probably too many.

Absolutely no chance ANB is dropped.  The bloke has been in terrific form over the last month and is one of our fittest players.  I guarantee he'll play.

Absolutely.

The vision of him gut running down Adelaide Oval to kick the sealer is a prime example of his worth to our side.  As you say, he's a vital cog now.

Basement tapes goes alright too.

The last waltz is arguably the greatest ever rock film. Well, second. Spinal tap being number 1.

The player that has played him best was Hurley who bodied him at the contest then pushed off him at every opportunity. There was no double team or drop off.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
