Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

i doubt they would put TMAC back considering he has not played in the backline for a while.

would be very surprised if they did. (more likely pedo to buddy then tmac to buddy)

What 2 weeks ?

I wonder if Hunts role was affected by the inclusion of Lever ? He was clearly out of sorts before being dropped as was Lever at the time.

Could his role be changed now that Lever is not returning til next year?

If Hunt regains form he is a big inclusion!

Has it been stated or refuted that Hunt's drop off in form was related to whatever his injury was? In other words, was he playing with the injury (or a precursor to it) before the injury stopped him from playing? If the Match Committee wants him in the team for finals, it might be that he gets called up this week to replace Smith to give him game time in the seniors. As much as a run in the seconds helps with fitness, it doesn't help with playing at the high intensity/high speed of the game needed for seniors footy.

I actually think his form dropped off last year, prior to Lever joining. Perhaps the persistent rumours got to him ;)

Don't know for sure LD but I thought he got injured several weeks after being dropped.

If he's fit I wouldn't be against bringing him in if the match up is right.

I've heard different stories on Hibberd returning to the side. What's the latest on this? Is he in the mix for this weekend?

The same source that told me Hibb would return before finals.  However that same source said Hibb was only 2 to 3 weeks which has now become 4 lol. Supposed to be returning vs Eagles

Yea but injuries don’t heal to a timeline in someone’s head.. I hear some info around injuries and 90% of the time the info is spot on, they also say how long the player could be out, about 50% of the time this comes to fruition.

i was told Clarry broke his hand and would be a week out. Harmes the same, Milky hammy and would be out for 4 the club said 1 week... we will see.

Yes things can go wrong after initial assessments that's for sure Cards.  And as you say, muscle tears / strains etc don't respond to an expectation or timeline, even if it comes from a qualified pro with years of experience.  Crap can still happen!

Omac will get first crack at buddie. If he is killing him frosty gets next crack.

But buddy is not the key to this game. It is the medium to small forwards who have troubled us thisvseason, hawkins bag of 6 notwithstanding.

Swans need 100 points to beat us. Dees will happily give buddy 5-6 goals if they are not fonding goals elsewhere.

This is why OMc shouldn't play.  he's too slow for Budd,,, and not a great kick to position compared to Pedo.

Not quick or agile enough, nor strong enough for Budd,,, and also too slow to pressure they're smalls.

We don't need his height  this week.

Pedo is strong enough to match-up on Budd, deep...  or others who happen along.

Frost is in good form by his standards,  and should give Budd his first crack...   especially when Budd is playing high.

IMO, I reckon we will be more stable with Pedo and Frost as keys.

He might be a better fit in terms of pace and the fact that buddy plays up the ground a bit. But buddy is not fully fitvand is playing deeper so i reckon omac will get the nod.

Hunt did his ankle in the last play of the day at a casey game against the Dogs I think? His form drop off was well before that. In fact he started the season quite poorly.

His kicking can be all over the place but other than that not sure what specific tasks he was given to work on at Casey..I hope whatever it is it works out as well as Brayshaw's stint in the dewies....

OMac was good against Adelaide but otherwise his form has been down the last two months. Some will put it down to Lever being out of the side but it is more than that IMO. I am not an OMac bear and can see him being a good AFL player in time, but I think Pedersen might be a better option at present. Especially this week against McCartin.

Letting the Sexton goal from 80m bounce through (and getting behind Leslie who would have kicked the goal if it didn't) was particularly poor play from OMac.

I agree, Frost will get 1st crack.   They need to double team him.  Jetta to play loose on his man as the intercepter

I think Frost will get first crack, but Jetta will be to busy on Haywad/Roonke/papley to be the loose man. I think OMac will go to McCartin (who everyone on here has forgotten - he hasn't kicked a heap of goals but needs to be maned up on),which will hopefully mean he can come across and either intercept or spoil.

What hurts Buddy the most is the 3rd man over the top to kill the ball, while he is strong he rarely relies on his strength like a Hawkins does, Buddy gets into good positions early then holds his ground, he's not after a wrestle and contested mark situation. OMac was pretty handy in this role over the last 2 years before changing to be somewhat more of a true key back, so hopefully he does this again Sunday.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
