Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Not gonna happen. OMac is in the team, he’s not going anywhere.

Wagner for Smith

Melks for Vanders/JKH (either one unlucky)

Buddy is about the only tall in Swans forward half.  Frost IMO will be 1st option on Bud.. as he has the speed to go with him.  OMc does not.

If Bud plays Deep... Neither OMc or Frost have the body strength.

If Allir Allir or other goes forward with Buddy, we don't have the cattle to match him.

Pedo comes in as Full back and has the strength to match Buddy or Allir Allir in deep defence

Pedo is a much better kick than either OMc or Frost..  and he can run with the ball and deliver.

OMc has been off his game recently.

This game against the Swans is a MUST WIN Game for us, as we compete for the same area of the ladder...  Much much more important than the games against the Eagles or the Giants...  as these 2 teams are a lock-in for Finals.

We can hold out the Swans and save our spot inside the eight.

THIS is the crucial game for our season, right now.

I don't think either JKH or Vanders will come out of this team...  they are both too mature and reliable, defensively.

IF any others miss it would be Fritsch... He is tired and needs a break, but we cannot afford to be without him in this important match, because of his reading the play, and his skills at both ends.

I would rest Fritsch against the Eagles, in Perth.

McVeigh and Jack played against Collingwood and if Collingwood had a key defender to play on Buddy Sydney would have lost. Plus both of them are past it.

Rohan and Hannebery were both woefully out of form before their injuries and they're going to rush Hannebery back into the seniors on their own admission because they're lacking leadership (which is covering for the truth, which is their kids are faltering).

Sydney deserves respect, but in context.

I sincerely hope u are right but they are generally quality players and replacing youngsters.

You make some good points DV8, but if Aliir goes forward who will play on TMAC/Hogan?

Grundy is out.  I didn't see all of the Swan's v Pies game, did Aliir take his spot?

Where and how did Alex Johnson play?

I didn't see it hb.  I don't know,  but I think its time we got some maturity and strength back into our defence...   and Pedo is so widely skilled, he can add to our flexibility.

Pedo in this week with Melks,

Hibbo back hopefully for the Eagles clash?

Then we're slowly building again.

Vince has been pretty poor this season. His efforts on Sunday were woeful. Not sure who should come in in his place. Maybe Hunt, but apparently he's not ready yet.

Pedo is pretty much cooked and will be lucky to get another AFL game. Swans only have Franklin and McCartin as talls in their forward line, so I think Frost and OMac will have to do their best!! Pedo wouldn't help with Franklin ... too slow.

JKH ... hmm. I'd prefer Kent to JKH.

AVB ... good on him for persisting, but I don't think he's that great. Hopefully Melksham will be available.

Poor Smith ... he's a real tryer. I hate to say it, but it's looking like Wagner might get the gig.

How did Bugg play over the weekend? Would be ironic if I’m the same week Gaff gets a huge suspension for an off the ball punch that Bugg returns against Sydney!

Really hope Melksham is good to go, our distribution into the forward 50 suffers without him.

Melksham good to go

In:  Pedders, Hunt, Melk, Kent

Out:  Smith (Inj), Vince, JKH, Vanders

Wont happen as Hunt/Kent haven't exactly hit any decent form at Casey so maybe..

Pedders for Smith

Melk for Vanders

Goody said in the post match presser Melk was 50/50 to play the Swans.  Maybe just hedging his bets in case he needs 1 more week.

It's been a while but one of Pedo's standout traits when he played down back was his defensive and intercept marking. The problem was that he was too slow to move it on - and that's in an era of late-stage Grimes. He has evolved since then, and is also more athletic - and, although I haven't seen him in action down back at Casey, I would expect perfectly capable of taking on Smith's role, if that's what we need. Which I don't think we do. For this match at least. But we also need to resettle the back-line as quickly as possible. How many reversals in the one post is that?

Just wish we could see Oskar B doing his thing - commonsense says wait until next year.

I like the idea of Frisch...

Me too (you don't even need to finish the sentence).

I like that JKH is getting some consistency and starting to build confidence whilst getting groomed as a small defender. He has taken positive steps but unfortunately it's a bit tricky to see if he fits in the squad each week due to match-ups and availability. Keep at it fella!

Vandenberg will most likely stay in in my opinion.

I think it will be Melksham for Spargo if he is right to go.

Not sure down back, they have a bit of a shuffle to do. I liked Smith coz he could play tall and small and he was quick. He was no superstar but he will actually be hard to replace. Wagner is the like for like. But really Smith was a poor mans Lever and Wagner is a poor mans Smith. Thats a double downgrade!

Well we will need him for the Eagles match.

May as well get him in this week, to settle the back half now; as we are exposed for size and maturity down there.

Make no mistake Sydney will be up and about after a win like that. Return to form for Buddy and back training, Jack and McVeigh will be better for the run, so too Alex Johnson plus the potential ins of Hannebery and Rohan. I actually feel more confident of beating WCE now than I do Sydney.

Agree and worried as i don't know which melbourne will turn up (or if we will dominate i50 with crap kicks and then they go swosh and easy goal to franklin etc etc.

On other posters adn Spargo, one thing he does do is gut run. and it's that gut running and 10 possessions that opens up chains. I can't see melksham (because of injury) or VDB (have not seen him do it before + plus think he's more explosive) being capable of that. So if we do drop spargo i wonder if our ability to run the ball is hampered on the wide MCG.

Here's my take and I may be well off the mark but Jack should have retired last year, really doesn't offer much these days. McVeigh will cause trouble off HB if you give him space, close him down. Johnson is just finding his way back. Hannebery is carrying something and not a patch on his former self. If we play a high pressure game Rohan won't be sighted.

I would play a defensive forward on Lloyd as he's their distributor out of defence and tag one of their mids with Harmes. Parker is probably easier to get hold of but Kennedy has also struggled with a tag as of late the again it might be Heeney.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
