Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Just finished watching replay.

How sad for Smith. He was looking bloody good.

I loved the effort of all the players.

To quibble: Jay Kennedy Harris is a worry. As is, I'm afraid to say it, Vince.

Best game I've seen Tyson play. I didn't see one turnover. Hopefully he's turned the corner and getting his mojo back.

I love Frost but I get delirium tremens when he kicks or hand passes. Still, there is tremendous upside.

Great to see Vandenberg again: he's an important player.

T. Mc had one of those days but he was still a very nady and important player.

We should beat the Swans.

Yes it was good to see him play again but he is not an important player. He was a fringe player that has played 28 games. I like his attack on the ball and think he can become a good player but he is nowhere near that measure now.

I just like the hardnut attitude, his intensity and his ferocious tackling.

Credit must go to Jade Rawlings - Gus, Tyson and Garlett have emerged much better players following their stint at Casey. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him get a senior job.

The irony - at least for me - is that he didn't seem to be all that interested in playing at Casey. That's not a criticism of Garlett, I just recall a lot of comments throughout Casey games which mentioned he didn't seem to be doing much.

Garlett would never be out of my side, I love the way he plays.

I must say I’m in the same boat as you, I like that he’s back and he’s done well to get over his injury concerns but I don’t see him as best 22. His shots on goal from the weekend I’ll forgive as he’s only just come back but from memory he was never particularly reliable on goal.

He could fall into the best 25 category but for me not best 22.

No one will be happier than Roosy to see us play finals and achieve the ultimate success in the coming years.  I love the fact that he still loves the club and you can hear it everytime he talks about us.

Kennedy, surely.

Has TMac got some kicking yips or something, there was a time this year he barely missed from a set shot but he’s missed some fairly standard shots on goal in the last few weeks. Hope he gets his mojo back soon.

No one would deserve as much credit as him and PJ. Still can’t believe what they have built. I couldn’t see any light at the end of the tunnel until Roos was appointed

So just finally watched the first quarter, I have to say I’m a little surprised at what I saw. We were good but (and I hate saying this) GC just looked absolutely woeful, particularly when were were going forward. They had zero defensive pressure in the middle and in their defence which really allowed us to do as we please.

We could’ve scored another two or three goals but actually missed some getable chances.

They were an absolute rabble.

But interestingly I thought their first 10 minutes was much better pressure than us. At the end 10 minute mark I couldn’t work out how we’d managed to get a 51 point margin at quarter time. They need to take the Roos approach to what he did with us, build from the back. Force other teams to work their asses off to score. Roos’s first year you could see what he was doing building a solid defensive mindset before releasing the shackles with Goodwin.

Anyway back to us, I think the players coasted this game at times. Which is fine especially as we still got the percentage booster we were after. Now there has to be a strong focus on bringing finals like pressure for Sydney.

Finals start this weekend.

agreed

Any opposition player that can see the man approaching for one of his trademark tackles and his drive for the ball will think in 'get rid of ball mode' and hurry to dispose of the pill before he arrives, because:

  • he will attempt to get the ball
  • he will interefere with any relaxed possession of the ball
  • he will restrict delivery options on disposal
  • he will hurt you and is fast and solid enough to dent more than your ego

Given these parameters in singularity and/or various combinations up to all four outcomes, the possessor of the ball is going to want to do something 'fast' and thus, his options - most likely his best options for his team - are being toyed with, and interrupted and threatened so that the chances of 'stuffing up' the relay of the ball are greatly increased. That's why I like him as a footballer.

TMac will never set foot in the backline ever again.

If I had my way he'd never step foot out of the 50m-arc again. I thought at the start of the season he and Hogan would be viable as rotating roaming CHFs. Three (?) smothered kicks and a couple of serious misdirections from Tommy on the weekend put to bed any misguided notions of that.

A cynical man might suggest that the MFC is an extension of the very healthy ego of the great man.

And he was a big part of the journey up the hill.

Victory counteracts a multitude of sins. A big ego is only a problem if you're losing. He can have the biggest ego in the world, double park his car, refuse to pay for rounds of drinks, play music too loud and throw rubbish over his neighbour's fence and none of it will matter as long as we win.

Really? He was there 2 weeks ago when Smith hurt his hip. They switched in the second half.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
