Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This is a massive danger game for us. I think we will win by plenty but this is the sort of game some players may already have penciled in as a win

I hope our players are not thinking like many posters on this forum. If they do we will lose and kiss goodbye to another season. Remember, they beat Sydney just two weeks ago.

I agree that we need to be switched on from the get go but the Lynch factor will not be significant. Players don’t think in that vein and certainly not as a collective group. My understanding is that there is a bit of a split in opinion about Lynch among the players at the Suns and that would be evident if you were paying attention to the lacklustre way he was playing earlier in the year.

I heard his manager Paul Connors being interviewed last night on SEN and he was high in praise of his client and the Suns about the way the whole scenario was handled by all concerned. To me, it came out as a load of bollocks.

The Suns are a fractured organisation from the top right down to the playing group. If we want to become a ruthless team capable of going places in the finals, we should give them a mauling.

Our most recent games against weaker sides have not started well: we were losing to the Dogs and St Kilda at Quarter Time whilst we'd put up an error-riddled 2.9 to 2.0 against Fremantle. Before that, we were losing to the Dogs at QT the first game, too. We were only a goal up against Carlton and 3 points up against GC.

We've really only had four stand out first quarters - 5.4 to 0.3 against Brisbane, 5.1 to 2.5 against St Kilda, 3.5 to 1.3 on the road against Port, and 7.1 to 3.1 against Adelaide the first time.

In other words, I am not expecting us to blow GC off the park in the first quarter.

But, on paper, if both sides play their absolute best, we will win this game by 100 points.

Why on earth when they are down to the bare bones at selection would Lyons, Barlow and Ainsworth all be selected as emergencies. They’d be some of the first picked if I was a portly Suns coach.

It seems quite a few of the young Suns are angry at Lynch's defection and told him so in no uncertain terms.  https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-2018-tensions-high-among-gold-coast-suns-playing-group-after-tom-lynch-departure/news-story/51496c9832adfacf7628a3d42315afdc

Could be the opposite too. The Captain doesn't give AF and has left us, what is the point....

the demons need to concentrate on their own game, we have shown often enough how we can lose to teams that most people expected us to beat and beat well. The GCS could just as well use Lynch as an excuse to pull together as a team. They beat Sydney a couple of weeks ago and many of the results of the round so far has been close with a couple of surprises. Let us hope the dees go out there and play attacking football.  A few more percentage points would not hurt, if we win we should go to fourth on the ladder.

Top four opened up now.

Chance to jump to fifth (assuming giants win) and increase our %.

Imagine the stinking, torrential [censored] storm that will rain down on this club if we manage to bugger this up tomorrow.

I’m not going to sleep tonight.

MFCSS....cold sweats......stomach churns.....aaarrrggghhhhhh the agony

Fourth.

GWS will go to 3rd, we'll pass each of Hawthorn, Collingwood, Port and Sydney on percentage.

With some results falling our way  ( and winners not building percentage ), its in our hands or should I say head to win and , on form we should  win well   ( gc may have played their gf vs sydney)

Players must show up  from Ist quarter. Last chance to build percentage We have had 3 bad scoreboard losses this year but were blown away in the last quarter in all 3 which gives the impression we played poorly  thru the game. The St kilda game was a bad loss as we did play poorly most of game but on ability and form should have won easily.

Win Today ( and well )and worry about next week at 6pm.

With top 4 now up for grabs, I have an even stronger doubt that we’ll win this game as every time it’s happened, we’ve dropped one. Surely we can’t lose to the GC. Even if some of our “leaders” don’t stand up, the competitiveness of someone like an Oliver and Brayshaw won’t let this slip.

With that being the emerging theme at the Gold Coast club, they should change their nickname. The Gold Coast Our Captains Don't Give AF, What's The Points.

And when the circling media pull out the old "what does this club stand for?" line of attack, they can simply point to their jumpers. "Our Captains Don't Give AF, What's The Point? So there. Culture."

vandenBerg strikes me as a player who could make us better if he hits his straps. He had a limited preseason when he first came to us, so his only full preseason was prior to the 2016 season.  I also don't know when this most recent injury occurred.  Could it have affected his form in 2016 prior to post season surgery ?  I don't know the answer, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was a little lame.

At 26 his body may be in the best nick it's been in since he came to the club.

I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do.

“It can be really frustrating at times. Even 2016 I played with a floating bone in my foot and I couldn’t calf raise, I couldn’t run properly. I was just trying to get through the year and it took a mental toll.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
