Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Holy carp I just noticed that some Muppet journalist from Adelaide and writing for the Advertiser / Herald Sun gave the votes as follows:

3 Petracca

2. Harmes

1 Greenwood

WTF??

2 votes to Harmes because he beat the favoured son. Greenwood? Maybe but no way was he better than Clarrie or Gawn. Pathetic.

Reece Homfray. Bwah ha. What kind of a name is that anyway??

Adelaide. Wow.

I think our half forward have to be ready when Frost makes  his breaks and give him some better options

He looked better handpasssing to a running midfield player in support on Saturday

He is a weapon and we must work out  how to draw maximum benefit from his breakaways

Goodwin not playing him for all those weeks was criminal in my opinion but Im sure others have a view on this

Yep, yep, yep, yep.

  • Half fwds do need to spread as soon as Frosty looks like running. Options are the key to what appears inaccurate kicking. He can kick 50m easily, he can run and carry another 40m before that with what looks like relative ease, and does the 'don't argue' just as well Dusty. That's nearly 90m of progress - better than Dusty.
  • Midfield receivers need to be on their toes for this, as well as his handball that is long, fast and fairly accurate - better if these receivers are close in to his line of progress or prepared to run alongside as assault pioneers. ANB comes to mind, as does JSmith and Spargo.
  • There is an arc of about 6 players, sometimes more, who could be getting into space to maximise what Frosty is offering; this arc is about the same as ground width and usually about 40 metres deep into the front 50 - that is a phrigging big space if eyes were open and brains activated. Nice bit of positive playground.
  • Goodwin, again. Oh, well. Nice thinking .... 2019, Lewis?

I no longer get, read or consider 'The Advertiser' because of their football journalism - it is so poor. I gave it up years ago, for want of decently balanced perspectives and commentary - another thing that Adelaide does not offer.

Lever chose money over finals according to Tex. Where are Adelaide on the ladder again?

Good point.

In support, Lever needed to get back to Melbourne for valid reasons.

Simultaneously, he also took the money offered as wages as compensation for having to play in the same team as Tex.

In a world full of simultaneous events and unique conundrums, it must be noted that the Adelaide Crows were glad of the money that they received, which was far greater than what Lever is paid to be in the MFC team.

So, voluntarily, Lever left the Crows to help the financial position of the Adelaide Crows that pays Tex far more than he is worth. Therefore, Tex's complaints about Lever are absolutely counter-intuitive! Dumbum.

And of course his replacement, Tom Doedee, is better than Lever...

I do feel a bit sorry for Lever missing this game. It was always billed as the retribution game where the Crows would show him what a mistake he'd made. Shame he wasn't out there to shake Tex's hand and give him a wink without needing to say a word about taking money over success. Bitter sweet sitting in the box instead.

As I said he is the best player I have ever seen. Was not lucky enough to see either Barrassi or Flower.

Fortunately I did so just watching Cho Cho and make a comparison in a year or two. Bloody exciting to watch now. Glad the maggots have woken up to the fact that his handballs are ligit and have noticed some players in other teams have copied him.

Coaches votes:

ADELAIDE V MELBOURNE

9 Gawn (Melb), 9 Oliver (Melb), 3 M. Crouch (Adel), 3 T. McDonald (Melb), 3 Milera (Adel), 2 Lewis (Melb), 1 Neal-Bullen (Melb)

Perhaps he watched the game from the casino. Didn't get one right according to the coaches votes.

Was lucky to see a fair bit of both

Saw every home game plus finals from 62 to 65 and Barrassi had something more than just a great player

Saw less of Flower because I was playing Bush footy every Saturday

But most people I knew who followed the game not even Demon supporters thought he was close to the Best in the game at that time

I think our young group could be the best group ever even match the fifties sixties sides

Clarrie to be the Equal of Ronnie/ Robbie

No, I do not; one seems to be reliant of verbal conversations with footballing interests from all walks of life and from these interactions, one is left to one's own devices for the agglutination of general, decently balanced perspectives and commentries given riddance of errant mindlessness. However, on DL, one does see an array of things from posters to which one is not particularly aligned yet on the other hand, one finds interesting and thoughtful missives of greater insight, depth and positing. Most of your earlier postings, for example, were of a better standard than your immediate attempt at drawing a rash conclusion from an unrelated discussion with another but never mind, you were not to know, this time.

At least Lever made the game as a spectator and has been welcomed by the Club to an annointed seat in the coaching box. Sadly for Tex, he cannot get into the Crows coaches' box because he doesn't understand the rapidity of the converseations so encountered and the Crows' Coach for all his shortcomings, cannot bear to see his Captain reading Donald Duck comics by the bagful when he should be watching the game!

Saw something of such a description, yes, but it was quick and actually from a distance, it looked rather benign.

No, but it is a handy utility when writing papers. My preferred reading is in particular scientific texts and reports, and the works of bespoke philosophers and historians on paths to rhyme, recant and reason. Illicit Fourteenth Century Italian commentaries are also worthy of some sustained perusal. And you?

Yours, a bit too heavy for myself. Must confess as this season stays on a knife edge I find I'm spending far too much time on Demonland.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
