Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

That play was a huge turning point. We had momentum, the centering kick from Trac was genius, ANB just needed to take possession. He's lively and was involved a lot, but he's still just not composed enough with the ball. Someone needs to challenge him to stand up against good sides.

He just needed to take possession of Frost kick against Geelong as well!  Enough is enough!

EIshold was never a regular to the same extent but was a better play and Dunn as a defender (the role he played when he was a regular) is a much much better player.  Byrne and Seddon pre-date the time period in question but Byrne was top 10 in a Brownlow and Seddon never played more than 16 games in a year.

And you share them with me. This bloke absolutely cracks under pressure. That pathetic dropped mark in the middle, off the Petracca pass, which could have been better, granted, but nevertheless, ANB shat himself. It was obvious. That could have been the chance to do something and redeem himself, after at least 7-8 turnovers from him entering our F50. His skill errors kill us against good sides.

I don't give a damn how far he runs, he has terrible ball skills, fumbles, gets in the way, cracks under pressure and destroys our forward thrusts.

Yes he can snag a goal against the crap, but he is not AFL standard and IMO will never be.

The number of times he got in the way and/or spoilt the work of our mids at the contest (Oliver in particular) was astounding. Get out of the way Alex and take your fumbly mitts with you.

This was on top of all the turnovers.

It was Nibbler's turn at the bathwater, with the extra praise and publicity recently.

He'll learn from it. He'd bloody better.

Nibbler is a work in progress, and he's progressing a lot every season so far.   Its not Nibblers fault, our position.

You are all wrong about ANB.

He has the capacity to be elite.  He is only 22 improving every year.  More importantly he has elite vision.  He has the ability to spot the short option.

Currently his execution lets him down but he will tidy that up and become elite assist player

*Facepalm*

Exactly what potential elite trait does he have? Besides running 16km a game like a headless chook?

Elite vision? Please....

Get Gaff and this bloke will be back at Casey.

Horrible decision maker with questionable skills.

Actually, I'd argue that Gaff in would probably make Nibbler more effective as his role would become a little more focused and we wouldn't be worrying so much about Nibbler's clangers.

Oi vez, I just for a moment pictured our inside-50s being dominated by Melksham (the most effective inside-50/goal assist player in the game at the moment), Gaff (the best 'true' winger in the game at the moment) and Brayshaw with a bit more space from clearances once Viney is back in. I may have just had a 'moment' where I swing to the yes vote on getting Gaff.

Lots of people like to point to Richmond as the target to match, well, their triumph was built on a core of really excellent and experienced players who'd been together for as much as a decade, supported by a swarm of hard-working but only really 'good-average' players who provided the pressure and created steady opportunities.

Nibbler is not a star or part of the 'core of really excellent players' but he is most certainly in that layer of 'good-average hard workers' that fill out a team and, importantly, don't take up a whole lot of salary cap space while they do it.

Take another look at his corridor passes against the cats two weeks ago in a pressure game. If Godfrey or Hopgood made kicks like that in their dreams they would wake up and apologise.

Sorry but im copping the hits on this.

GTFO you spud! I counted at least 7 times he coffed it straight to a swans jumper. Shat himself in the middle when Petracca set himself up with a beautiful kick, and then 5 minutes to go we had all the momentum and yet he bombs it straight into no one inside our forward 50 but Aliir ready to sweep up.

Fumbles, turnovers, lack of awareness, momentum killer you name it.

Sorry but as I've previously state, he'll get found out in big pressure games and today was perfect example.

He was abysmal v the Swans. You have nailed it.

Jumbo Returns, I hope you are reading this, but as a critic of Nibbler I think I owe him an apology.

Though I am still annoyed at his fumbles and turnovers, he has made a good contribution this year.

While his goal kicking accuracy is not great, he has still managed 26 goals to be 4th for us. He does tackle well and as has been pointed out by some, he is a leader of our pressure acts and running on game day.

If he could improve his accuracy in front of goals and his disposal, he could be a very good player for us and Nibbler, you have my apology.

Ive watched every game for 30 years and he is the worst MFC player to play every game in a season i can recall

You weren't watching properly in 2012-2013 then. We had guys like Dean Terlich and Matt Jones finishing high in our BnF.

I'm not ANB's biggest fan but this is hyperbole. We've had a lot worse players than him.

Third best ranked Dee on the night, fourth overall. Disposal efficency of 70%, no clangers, 9 tackles and was leading pressure player in first quarter - I only saw that stat for 1st quarter - probably for the game too. Personally, I think he played well and I was happy with his game.

Missed 2 easy goals we can't afford to miss against better sides, but yeah he was excellent. Won the ball, took the right options, excellent work rate, so often the 3rd man in to a contest. Stuck most of his tackles.

Holding his tackles, not fumbling and taking the first option when it's their are the keys to his game. He does all of that and he's a good player.

Haha of course you do.

He stil has deficiency he needs to iron out. Dont understand why you didn't bump this thread up when he spent all day kicking down sydney's throat or fumbling and turning it over against West Coast.

I will absolutely give him praise for his game on friday night. Kept it simple and try not to bite off more then he can chew. Keep this up and he'll take his game to the next level.

Still fumbles way too much for my liking.

I did stop reading it (also I didn’t bump it) and to be fair to you I try not to single people out, plenty could have been but I think we need to hold fire when evaluating players. Yours was one example but an over the top one.

All players have room for improvement let alone a young bloke with a handful of seasons under the belt.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
