Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Name three good things

Ok I acknowledge all the mourning needs to happen but I need some optimism to get through today/this week without prescription meds.

3 good things from yesterday:

1. Olivers continued dominance. Easily BOG.

2. Spargo is gonna be a dangerous player for us next year and beyond

3. We can beat Adelaide and season is still alive.

Your turn.

1. The versatility of Harmes. A 22 yr old asked to play on a captain in the first half and then moved to Dangerflop. Daunting for a young kid and did it brilliantly.

2. Petracca’s game. Strong all night, getting better each week over the last month and would love to see him in a final.

3. I’m still breathing.

1. I thought Nibbler was very good- hard at the ball and did some really nice things.

2. Clarry train rolls on. How about that no look, over the shoulder hand pass at half forward to setup a goal. Freak.

3. Spargo’s Snap/dribble goal got me out of my chair. Kids’ got spunk.

JKH should finally get the arse.

The media should finally apply the blow torch on our player’s and coaching for losing the virtually unloseable.

Maybe, and I’m being optimistic here, Goody might get the arse come year’s end for blatant coaching incompetence.

1. Every remaining game is winnable.

2. This home-and-away season is going to be an exciting ride right up to the end of round 23.

3. Umm... we're just ten points short of being equal top of the ladder. (beats head against wall)

Ok, a better 3. Our players are getting a whole lot of chances to learn to win high-stakes games against quality opponents.

1. Harmes (60 games), Petracca (55), Oliver (51) and Brayshaw (50) (combined 212 games) did more than hold their own against Danger, the Selwoods and Ablett (combined games 956).

2. We have now played under finals pressure and understand you must play full throttle for 120 minutes (better now than if we ever get to play one).

3. T-Mac continues to develop as an elite key forward.

there were plenty of good signs

imagine if Hogan had intensity for the contest

No-one below the age of 28 did much for Geelong. We will own them in the years to come.

whilst they weren’t our best players Spargo, Fritsch and Smith all showed they weren’t overawed. Whilst there were a few mistakes, all had some pretty good moments. Harmes has improved a heap this year, and his development as a run with player could be crucial.

i will get abuse for this, but with the exception of umpire no13, I didn’t think we suffered at the hands of the umpires as badly as I was expecting. At least it wasn’t as bad as the port game. Maybe we will start to get a better run as we get recognised as one of the better teams.

1; Geelong's midfield 3 Brownlows, 385 All Australians . , 2018 Mature aged recruit of the year     and Duncan.                                    MFC Midfield Average 50 games each ( Clarrie Gus and Trac) and Harmes (hasn't he improved)

2 > Goodwin is right we are nearly there (which is further than we have been)

3 Fritsch ( is a fatter Robbie Flower) and Salem are potential guns.

31/2  My theory relating to Umpiring related to the demands of CH 7 has been reinforced.

1.  Oliver. Continues to blow me away and he's played just 50 games.

2. Harmes' continued development as a tagger. Did a massive job last night.

3. Others may disagree..but I thought Frost was fantastic when he went onto Hawkins.

4. ( i know its only supposed to be three...but I need to add that into back that team, that SHOULD have smashed Geelong,  comes HIbberd, Viney and next year Lever and , cross fingers, Gaff. We're getting v close to being elite)

1. We've found a couple players in - J Smith, Spargo & Fritsch.

2. If we can convert opportunites and stop making basic mistakes we play finals

3. Petracca starting to lift

I agree its sad as JKH, imo,  is exactly caught in the middle in terms of abilty between AFL and VFL. Not his fault. Lacks pace and intensity and just isnt up to the grade. Pace of the game leaves him for dead. We cant pick him again.

1. Add Viney was out of our team to point 1 of Dimmy & Big Red, we are building something special, just have to learn how to win the close ones! Tigers had to take that step and did.

2. I was in the air & missed the game, so didn’t suffer as much as if I watched it live.

3. Tommy Mac just keeps getting better as a forward.

1. Fritsch’s contested marking and ball use were in full display last night. He has developed in to an exceptional flanker/wingman - unexpectedly for mine.

2. We took it up to a finals experienced side, on their home sh—heap, in a finals grade game, and showed we can match them. Next step: learn how to win.

3. The season is still alive. The degree of difficulty has no doubt increased, but we’re a long way from dead yet. If we make it now, we will have to win at least one game like this one, which will mean we deserve finals by definition and can take confidence in.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
