Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

2. Oliver’s hands are amazing

3. Fritch tried all night (enjoy your 2 week holiday Hawkins)

4. Melk, ANB and believe it or not - Trac really stood up all night - well done Trac

5. Goody failed to call junk time 1:30 out from the siren to hold the lead...

FMD’s, the boys did well, the coach failed.

Correct Nutz.

There were some great efforts tonight

The Coaches failed badly

I think you nailed it with your last line.

The players worked bloody hard while the coaches had a nap.

Not for the first time, a lot of questions need to be asked about matchups and game day moves.

I thought the players all did their best, but nothing is more glaring in a close game than poor coaching and poor leadership. Sadly we suffer from both.

That is it. We cannot defend.

Who cares if we have a % of 115 if we only have 11 wins

it is pathetic

Once again. We should have won that game by at least 4 goals

Not impressed with Goodwin thus far

He is Bailey 2.0, but with a better overall list.

Can you imagine if Roos was still coaching this group?

We are doing just about everything right... except win.

We aren't mate and that's why it's such an infuriating loss. We have not learnt anything this year. How many times do we want to waste our midfield dominance and not put teams away? It's cost us twice against Geelong and also against Port. We are wasteful going inside 50 and wasteful on Goal. We had multiple opportunities to put Geelong away early in the last qtr as well as late. It's ok to make a mistake once but we keep making the same mistake over and over again. That's just [censored] stupidity or lack of ability, maybe it's both.

To give up a 5 goal lead I think you'd have to say the occasion and pressure got to them in the last quarter. They literally shat themselves. I'd say there is a lot of things that they aren't doing in between the ears that is right.

Goodwin again has a lot to answer for with regards to our defensive set up. Out coached again by Scott as hard as that is to say.

This club never ceases to amaze me in all the wrong ways.

The MFC needs to protest to the AFL to prevent Nichols from ever umpiring another game of ours.  The guy clearly has issues with the MFC.  Two insane examples (for a start).... the Harmes 50m penalty decision tonight (which clearly wasn't there) and the one against Melksham in the square running into an open goal against Port (which i'm still scratching my head over)

Has had it in for us ever since from last season when Max knocked the ball away and he cracked it.

We have not won a crunch game against a good side since Port Adelaide in R18 last year which is a full season ago. Obviously we are in it mathematically and the team has ability, sure. But I’m yet to see evidence we mentally have the chops to win against any of the good sides. I think Adelaide will be very tough at home despite our earlier clash, WCE is near impossible, GWS are running into form and have the pace to expose us at the G and Sydney are exactly the type of mentally strong team we almost never beat. I applaud your glass half full and wish I had it in me to feel the same right now, but an extended body of evidence has me feeling pretty from. #MFCSS

I get it.  Trust me.  I know it doesn't seem like it, but I get that we are yet to prove ourselves fully against opposition inside the top 8.  We pushed the Cats and pushed Port, but we haven't done more than that, which I agree is not good enough.

But the Sydney game today is one example of how anything can happen in the league this year.  Outside of playing Carlton, you can lose a game of footy if you switch off for long enough.  We are still in the eight and we still have time to put together some notable wins that can propel us towards finals footy.

It might feel terrible right now, and very hard to see, but finals are still in our future this season if we want it.

Having watched the last two minutes, a number of things stand out:

  1. JKH's miss was horrendous. He could have straightened up.
  2. Petracca's barrel wasn't terrible. It got a good result, a throw in.
  3. Garlett's snap attempt with 50 seconds to go was rubbish, he should have been aiming for 20m out, instead he went for the goal from the pocket and gave the ball back.
  4. When Vince spoiled the kick in we should have been able to wrap the ball inside 50 but we failed to do that.
  5. Our defensive set-up was too loose, it was man-on-man inside their 50 (someone should have been standing in the hole), Menzel was free, Duncn was able to run past Hawkins (which saved them enough time).

Vince [censored] spoiled Melksham who would have marked it. Absolute panic merchants in clutch moments. Soul destroying stuff, seriously gutted. Will stew on this all week.

I’m as gutted as the rest of you for sure.

I didn’t but now do have question marks over Goodwin.

Moir list is pretty amazing and when you consider the amount of game most of he guys have played it’s impressive how well they did against some of the best in the game tonight.

Massive pity they couldn’t do it for four quarters and I’m really [censored] off. But the future is still okay.

Chin up people. I’m proud of the guys and the huge effort they put in. Hope it drives em cause they are good enough.

Night.

What's this even mean mate? More like we're realists who aren't falling into the same trap as last year where we get our hopes up and have them bitterly crushed, pulped and minced in the final round of the season. And yet, for all the fanfare, we're heading for the exact same [censored] conclusion this year.

I don't blame supporters for being proactive and refusing to put themselves through the same [censored] masochism two years running. And rest assured, I'm calling it now, it WILL happen again this year. We've done it again.

I think the Swans are too tough for us. Mentally. Hope I'm wrong.

Don't think we'll win enough to get there. Tonight wouldn't be so hard if we beat the Saints. How could we lose to them.

Unconvinced about Goodwin.

True.

However, the Swans proved today they are more than beatable.  The Crows are too, even in Adelaide, a ground we play well.  The Eagles will be tough, and so will GWS, but we get them at the G.  We have the talent and ability to win 3 of those.  Plus the Suns game.  Finals are still well and truly alive.

The way StKilda and Geelong were beatable? Or a different kind of beatable?

Going by that same logic, Gold Coast proved today that they are more than capable of beating us.

You cant just look at whatever side of the story fits your narrative and ignore the rest. FWIW we might beat Sydney, but the other games look like being beyond our ability. If we do make finals, it will probably be by percentage only.

Today was a huge setback.

HUGE.

yep... I think many of us have come to realise that he is not much chop and that his inadequacy is being masked somewhat by the strength of the list.

If we go anywhere it will be in spite of him not because of him.

His match day skills are almost non existent.

Crows now a different proposition at home with all their players back. We are well & truly cooked after that soul destroying result.

No Lever & probably Hibbo to count on either.

You're right. Can't believe I missed that.

Immediately following that, the ball spills to Brayshaw who is driven into the ground, via his back, by Ablett. No free.

I appreciate your positivity at a time when I want to go on a murderous rampage through Geelong, but after failing to take every chance we have had this year in close contests, what makes you think anything will change between now and the end of the season?

We are definitely not getting key players back anytime soon. We are definitely not getting a new coach. What is going to change?

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
