Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

GAMEDAY - Round 18

Well some of the players have been gobbing off again in the media prior to a big game against the Cats.

Lets hope this time the “talk” can be backed up on the field.

It’s time Dees.

Heading down the highway this afternoon. Looking forward to it, huge game & the ramifications are massive... I'd put this game down as a win weeks ago but with a few injuries I'm a bit concerned. Cats by 9

Nev to have a big game and become that intercept player like he did in the first dogs game when lever went down.

Maxy will absolutely dominate their rucks we really need to capitalize on his work. If we do I can see us winning by 2-3 goals.

Dont forget carlton really pushed the cats down there 8 rounds ago.

We are exposed in defense with no Lever or Hibberd so it's up to the midfield to make sure that the supply is ugly.

We hold the edge in the ruck and if Maxy can put the ball down the mid's throats like last week then we are in with a shot.

Jesse started to get his mojo back last week and could be a big factor in a win. Bash into packs enough, give Jeffy and Spargo enough opportunities forward and we are in with a shot (so long as the first two things I mentioned happen).

Sadly, I think baby Jesus, Dangermouse and Duckwood might be too much to contain without Viney directing traffic. Cats by 30.

Our only chance IMO, after the injuries, is to apply manic pressure and not let them get any flow in their game. This requires mental toughness. A failure to do this could see us get smashed, given they have the familiar ground, the crowd and inevitably will have the umpires.

What did they say Ox? Haven't had a chance to look, poor form if so and goes against the Goodwin mantra of being humble. Will await a reply

Even with the injuries, there is absolutely no reason why we can't win this game of footy.

Play our game, keep the pressure up and turn our forward entires into goals and we can knock these ducking bastards off!

Dees by 4 goals.

No Lever. No Hibberd. No Viney. No Worries.

Its not who’s missing, it’s the quality of the starting 22. Gawny to continue his stellar season, Gussy and Clarry to clean up in the middle. TMac to kick 4, Hoges 3.

Umps to finally not pay duckwood free kicks. That might be taking the wishful thinking too far.

Go dees.

From that article: "the key to beating the Cats in Geelong might be slow ball movement and disciplined man-on-man positioning by forwards."

The exact opposite of the way we play. Great.

Scott Selwood to Angus Brayshaw? I think our boy might be in for his first hard tag.

Expect a bloke called Clayton Oliver to have a field day if that is the case.

I have this one as an absolute 50/50.  Can’t decide who will win.  It all comes down to how we show up, and the smarts we use.  Low effort and dumb football, and we will be caned.  On the other hand, The handbaggers are very gettable.  Dees by 13 points, in a very tough and exciting game.

Play them man on man in the forward line and try to choke  them on the rebound. Cramp them up on the narrow ground going forward.

This match is really about run, given the Catty Puts' selections and the Dees' injuries to key players.

We have to move, this game, and be prepared to move again and again to create an increased number of non-contested possessions. We must present as good runners all over the ground and get back to maintain attacking presence in our spine.

Down at the cattery, we must be careful with our tackling and contested stuff as the umpires will cruel us as the [censored] fall forward, backward and loop MFC arms around their heads as 'high tackles'; these traits are the demonstration of masterful 'staging skills' that the Geelong fans in their droves expect - and raise umpire-sensitive awarenesses towards crowd decisions, not legitimate decisions. In all this gloom, a 'thinking' yet resolute side can beat the 'over-the-hill' gang provided that cool heads prevail. Dees by 30 pts if we play as a committed team.

Had a strange dream last night - that I put down to a few late Taviskars before bed -  but a news flash was pulsating. My dream took me to the laptop where I logged into the AFL site. The alleged news was: Oscar McD was a late withdrawal! Pedo comes in at fullback on Hawkins - time blurred - Hawkins kept goalless. Frosty starred at CHB. Hogan kicked 6. TMac kicked 5. Demons by 60 pts and Geelong out of the 8 - never to return in 2018. How's them for ripe apples?

There's no other team that I hate more than Geelong. I hate the players who play for free kicks, I hate their coach who is constantly in 'I can't believe it' mode, I hate the smug straight out of 'Deliverance' spectators and I hate the ground which allows three members from other clubs. Have I made myself clear? Time to win.

Exactly what I thought after reading that article. I just cant see who is going to kick our goals, because Geelong will strangle our forward line. You really need goal kicking mids to beat the type of defence the article alluded to, which we haven't had to date. I really hope I am wrong, but I see tonight as the beginning of the end.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
