Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Losing Jack Viney

He has just done a presser about the foot, saying it had been sore for a few weeks, is the same bone and will miss at least 4 weeks... it’s [censored] Groundhog Day!!!

So why not reported to staff 4 weeks ago by him. when first became aware of it.

Unbelievable! Won't be back this year and a chance for someone else for rest of season.

I am comfortable having watched live on Saturday  the way Oliver,  Brayshaw,  Gawn, Hogan.... stepped up that leadership is not an issue.

He will be a loss though.

Hmmm. From what they were saying yesterday he only just became a little sore, now it's been sore for weeks?

Yep. Agree, last year he did the bloody same. You would think after last year he and the club (if he reported) would have learnt. Defies logic.

This isn't the club''s fault is my info.

Jack is learning the hard way about professionalism possibly.

This is the text from the tweet

Viney: It has been a bit sore over the past couple of weeks, so we got those scans on it, and it revealed that stress.

It’s part of footy. I’m staying really optimistic.

freaking idiotic.

If Viney didn't report it - he needs a serious kick up the backside

If Viney did report it - the medical staff need to be damn well fired. He could've missed the games prior, had less stress and been back sooner. Fortunately it doesn't seem to have reached the stage of an actual fracture but that's more from good luck than good management by the sounds of things.

Arrrgh I'm so angry.

It's not part of footy when he knew how serious it became last year, he should have reported it straight away if in fact he didn't. Just ridiculous. (not you, him).

He needs to stop being the tough guy and think of the club and team first and foremost, he didnt last year either.

Obviously Jack hasn't learnt from last year.. what a bloody idiot!

I would take the captaincy off him next year and tell him just to get his foot right and stop worrying about trying to put the team first!

He will have no one else to blame but himself if this ruins his career. Time to take a back seat Jack and get that foot right!

Totally agree, what a freaking idiot. Give the captaincy going forward to Gawn also.

Not only could he ruin his career but he could ruin our chance for a flag.

I thought that all players were supposed to report even the most minor of niggles to the medicos?

With that being the case, I suspect Viney didn't inform the club that his foot was sore, which after the time it has taken to heal earlier this year seems really odd. I guess that part of it is trying to work out what 'type of soreness' we are talking about, ie general wear and tear or stress/load related.

Either way... disappointing outcome for Viney and the club going into finals. I know the club is saying it will be  conservative this time round, but I'd prefer they hold out and try and get him ready for the GWS game. Sydney might be a game too soon, and Optus Stadium is still quite a hard surface isn't it?

This annoys me......??

But Viney said he noticed a flare-up heading into Melbourne’s round 16 clash against Fremantle at TIO Stadium in Darwin.

“Going into the Freo game, I was a little bit aware of it,” he said.

“I made the decision that if I felt like that the week after, and it hadn’t got any better, then we’d look in to it. The day before we played the Doggies, I wasn’t feeling too flash.

“I got all of the necessary scans and got onto it early.”

Bolding mine. Would love to know if he made the decision in concert with team medicos.

If not, he needs to be taught a lesson. And that means stripped of captaincy.

I'd like the captain to be Gawn or Lever next year.

What a total dill. (If what is said above is true)

The club has a top notch medical team. Evidence -  the management of Tom MacDonald -  ( and Tmacs approach as well helped)

This was never Viney's  decision to make - but he thinks it is -  and therein lies the issue.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
