Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

1st game for 2018

most productive was 14 games in 2014, his first year as a 19 year old

seems to be ahead of VFL standard but not quite at AFL regular standard.

I was pleased to see him given a chance but this is make or break.  Not sure where he fits in.  Small forward appears his best option but that’s a tough gig and often a rotating role (except for Eddie Betts quality).

Interested in seeing how he goes v Bulldogs today.

He might be up to trade or delisted if he fails to fire today or next few games.

I can’t remember JKH having much of an impact in any of his games to date. Hopefully the boys get around him and involve him as much possible to boost his confidence and make him feel he belongs.

This as close to a best 22 for us out there and one of the best teams he will play in for the Dees. All the best young man.

Would be really happy for JKH and the MFC if he can step up and cement himself as an AFL player.

As others have hinted at above his introduction to AFL with our team of 4-5 years ago can not have been easy, particularly for a forward.  He is a slightly different sort of player, but Spargo has certainly had a much easier introduction to AFL than JKH.  My recollection of that first season was that JKH he showed real promise as a player that had a bit of X factor, good skills and poise delivering the ball.  It's been variously stated by Roos that before his time younger players were both gifted games too easily and thrown in the deep end and that realistically these players should have been given more time to develop in the VFL.  That all said, I'm not sure thay the MFC has been able to deliver on many of those long term development players in the VFL either, which has been very frustrating as a supporter.

I've heard many on this forum write off the likes of Billy Stretch and JKH on the basis of a lacking of fundemental football attributes like leg speed and/or ball skills.  At the same time many are also critical of players who lack mental strength and/or good character that drives successfully team culture.  From all I have heard talked about both JKH and Stretch is that their character and training ethic are first class.  Thus I think it's really important for the MFC that players such as these guys succeed and become a valued and embedded part of the team moving forward.  Probably the best example of where it has come off for us would be players like Nev Jetta and ANB.

That might have been when he was at his quickest. Also we were a worse side 5 years ago.

Good luck to him as he has worked hard.  I hope he has a great game in an easy win for us.

Just wish he had a bit more zip and would deffiantly fill a void in our team. Interested to see if he plays midfield or if we go with a  small forward line with Spargo, JKH & jeffy all lining up down there.

He is quick enough - not in the Garlett league but quicker than anyone else in our forward line.  Dunno where the myth about him being slow started but he is definitely not slow.

Anyway its about quickness of hands & decision making & reading the play as much as about leg speed.

Some players don't mature until they are 23/24 - lets hope JKH is one of them.

JKH similar to Frost has looked very solid in the VFL over the last 5/6 weeks.

Good luck to JKH, bring your best today like Frost did last week.

Made an impact in his last game, each drop and fumble was felt badly.

I must admit I haven’t seen any Casey games this year so I can comment on form, but my main concern is will he get pushed off the ball easily? I remember the last few times he played in the senior team, not only did he not get enough of the ball, he got pushed off it quite easily. From those who’ve watched some Casey games this year, is this an area that he seems to have improved on?

Wish him well but it would surprise me greatly if he fires.

His VFL form has always been rather good but at AFL level he continually fails. Cannot see why this time would be different.

As RBG says although our VFL team wins it has not been very successful in recent times at producing AFL level players. Brayshaw was an anomaly but who was the last player who played say a year at Casey and then established themselves in the AFL side. (Fritsch doesn't count.)

Hopefully Petty and Baker start a new trend.

ASsuming I make an A’s sure out of you and I and we win. I would imagine he would at least get another game. Needs to show some elite skills to be kept on the list. I hope he isn’t played as a small fwd, because he isn’t.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
