Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

maybe time for Lewis to have a rest for one week and at least 2 others will be rested.

Might be why Vince had the week off, as Lewis was planned to rest the week after the Darwin game and they want Bernie fresh.

I assumed Smith in the forward line was in response to the way Fremantle occupied our forward line, rather than our idea per se. It wasn’t going to be OMac, Frost, Hibberd or Jetta, so he’s th logical next choice. I can’t think of any other reason for it because he definitely did not look a natural forward.

Smith went forward because he had hurt his hip. May be in doubt for next week. Goody said it was great that he could play out they game.

Thats why TMac went back and Smith went forward.

Its just  minutes and seconds.

I don't think is time on ground altho that looks most likely. Each qtr was around 24/25 mins so it has Oliver at 103:13. He would have had at least 3-5 mins off each qtr given the conditions you would think....

JKH needs another go been impressive to see one final time what he may have??

Possibly, but has he been given enough chances over the years?  I think the FD have made up their mind on him as I don't recall JKH even being named as an emergency this year.

He did play well on the weekend but I struggle to see a way for him to play senior footy for us again.

Neal Bullen is a shocking set shot in front of goal. If last nights dreadful inaccuracy costs us again many on this site will be Livid!

We made 5 changes after the Darwin game last year. Vince got suspended and Kent hurt his shoulder, but we then dropped three more players (Pedersen, Wagner and J Smith), bringing largely running players (Watts, Tyson, Viney, Salem, Trengove).

I won't be surprised if we see three changes this week.

To be fair, we'd just been rolled by the Crows quite easily, so it wasn't as much of a surprise to see that many changes.  Take out the injuries and it's three changes, which you could theoretically see happening next weekend although I'm not convinced we'll make more than one or two.

Agreed, we're obviously coming off a different and better performance this year compared to last.

any further thoughts on PA? as it is the main column and the column used for ranking.

EDIT: could it be Pressure Acts (just heard the term used on radio)

You got most.  It is pressure acts.

I was trying to illustrate ANBs worth without possessions.  He runs hard both ways, and this places defensive pressure on the opponents. He does this better than anyone and it is our weakness. I know he fluffs shots at goal but his defensive running is underrated around here.

Why do you say that?  He only missed two set shots, straight in front, both about 15 meters out, that any 5 year old would kick.

Certainly by me it is underrated in his case.

lex Neal-Bullen 9 5 14 3 0 1 1 4 1 2 68

Also seems to be underrated by the AFL points grading system as well, placing him as one of our worst players for the game.

Fritsch out? Are you on drugs? He is so good ... an absolute find.

Agree with Smith + Lewis out.

Agree with someone else's reference to ANB as a momentum killer. Dropped marks, turnovers, missed shots for goals at crucial times.

No, very tired.

Sorry bing... I copied and pasted some players from another post last night whilst tired, to save typing,,,, and removed the players that I think should stay in.

I removed the players who should remain in the side (not rested)..  I missed deleting Fritsch's name from that group.    He's a ripper.

What I'm getting at with that list,  is to rest players after Darwin,  and to bring in those with fresh legs,,, like Vince, Baker, Bugg, for the Doggies game;,, as we rest others.

Not sure why he pulled out, only he knows but it wasn’t for personal protection as far as I can see. Very little personal danger in putting your arm out to shepherd as I vaguely remember. He has played a lot of footy, and knows a bit about the game perhaps he chose to stay on the outside for the receive? We have been complaining about our lack of outside receivers haven’t we?

I was thinking along those lines. We have recently had too many players going in for a contest rather than trusting your team mate and waiting for the receive. It might have been a brain fade because he his usually happy for a contest. The problem is that a shepherd would have definitely helped his mate win the contest.

I see it that he was trusting trac to be clean and to give back once both players had committed towards trac.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
