Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Thought Frost did well in his return.

A few of us said 3 weeks ago he should be in, together with Billy and some more pacey crumbers in Spargo or Garlett.

IMO we win the Port and Saints games with this side.

The Coaches must take responsibility for poorly selected sides, that have cost us a couple of games.

Stretch adds so much more than Tyson.

Out of all the players who played tonight i couldnt be more happier for stretchy added some much needed zip and spread, got more involved as the evolved. Loved his game tonight along with the usual suspects of Gawny, Clayton and Christian.

Shout out to the inclusions:

Stretch - looked like he belonged and hope he gets an opportunity to cement his place.

Garlett - welcome back Jeff. Covered a lot of ground and was dangerous in front of goals.

Frost - I queried his inclusion but he had a great game against weak opposition. One howler handpass, but otherwise a very solid game. Looks to have grown as a player.

Say what you like about him, tonight was Goodwins night.

Game AND selection wise. Frosty was great, Skinny was very handy, particularly in the last when he got 77 touches, Jeffy was sort-of ok.

Only bummer was Smith. Smith was yucky.

Good win in the end. (No pun intended) I will take a 9 goal win any round thankyouverymuch.

Liked Brayshaws game tonight.

We should sign him up ASAP.

Brayshaw (Gus) did heaps and kept giving heaps. A moment of care - a tiny moment of care because he is a little slower than desirable - with his kicking and passing would be great but what a terrific contribution and series of 'feeds' into the 50m arc. Lewis can have a rest, Jones to the fwd pocket permanently, Fritsch and Stretch to be full-time wingers, Baker to be the outside mid reliever from the bench. All good. Now for the Bulldogs. Good comment from G. Healy tonight about our useless 2 metre or less handballs getting us into all sorts of problems! I do not recall once bomb being launched that hit an intended target cleanly. Lessons still to be learned when heads-up passing was so effective. Kicking practice Tuesdays, all training session; normal training Thursdays, finished with an hour of kicking practice. ?

I a.ways thought Lyon was going to jam up our 50, and moreso the 20-40 metre zone that we target.  Fill it with big blokes, and as Demons lead into this space, the incoming ball can be cut off.

sometimes it was so bad they had no structure forward of the ball.  We had our press super high, and we were still 50m behind them sometimes.  Free had no chance playing like this.

no wonder we dominated inside 50s.

We didn’t handle the pill well, conditions or not.

lets bank the 4 points, recover, and get set for next week.

worried about Lewis.  Undisciplined elbow gives up 50m.  Doesn’t bend down for balls in dispute.  Not behaviours to be rewarded.

They were dreadfully bad.

12 rookies vs 7 for us.  We did what needed doing.  Fix the constant bombing and break neck running and bombing inside without looking for and hitting up more options in much better positions to score (on better angles and closer to goal...Lewis, Hogan, Viney & Jones the ones i recall tonight) and we win that by 15 goals

Jayden when he comes back that will be vital with his line breaking ability if we continue on this path to september. He will add a different dimension to our play.

We looked a far better balanced team tonight.

I feel Hogan plays from  behind too much . His first  quarter was OK ,apart from missing shots at goal. However second and third quarter he I was playing from behind. He needs to lead more as do most of our forwards . Our forward line I see far too stagnant and movement into the forward line too slow. Sure we are getting it inside 50 a lot but with poor conversion results. ANB and Garlett should have had more influence tonight. Stretch was a lot better tonight ,laid a couple of good tackles and showed glimpses of speed.

Hunt provides run off the backline and traditionally bombs to the forward line. His round the ground disposal isn't great.

Getting it into our 50 is not our problem so I'm not sure what he adds.

At VFL level he was not doing much before his injury

Highlight was probably Gawnie kicking the 'Jayden Hunt memorial goal' after the three-quarter time siren. But isn't it good to have a 50+ point win and be able to say we should have won by double that ...

Before we traded for Lewis his camp would have been stipulating that he has to get to 300 games, that's why he got 3 years, after he's played 300 he can Rack Off.

He will be a beauty its exactly what were missing Him and Hibbo working in tandem, he's still young those types of players with run and carry thrive in September breaking lines at the G.

Such domination on the field. Freo had nothing happening, no flow and unable to find space because of our pressure. Frosty kept winning or neutralizing there ball play. Good effort by him. Angus continues to impress with his ability to get the ball and run. Max's marking and positional play was nice as was his few crumbing efforts. Hoges started so well with his marks but his misses seemed to drain him. I expect him to keep growing as the year progresses. Unsure about Lewis. Hope he is useful if make the finals or when playing bigger matches. I would love to see Joel stick a few marks. Spargo wasn't helped by the break. I can see lots of improvement by him with more games. Love it when Harmes breaks lines. Fritsch has some silk. Neville struggling to find his best form. Viney is a rock seems to hurt those who tackle him. Petracca needs to be able to finish what he starts. Love it when he gets the ball, so balanced and strong. Salem so nice by foot and Stretch is looking stronger and improves our ball carrying.
A good win but we need to make scores when we dominate. I don't like us stuffing around.

The other fellas must learn from others who are doing more of this Clint.  The best, funnily enough is a rookie in FritschKrieg, followed by Brayshaw, Harmes and to a lessor extent Clarry.

I say Fritschkrieg as he will allow a player to commit, side step around (breaking tackles also at times), once tackle is missed and player"s passed him he then has space in front to run on and has given himself time and space to find and hit his next target up field.   The Tigers are brilliant at doing exactly that and effectively have a stack of Fritschkriegs running around making their opponents over commit, using evading skills with side steps/stiff arms etc and running around them to deliver up field or lateral. Very damaging old school football methods that aren't used by enough players (or who possibly aren't capable of doing so....not as easy as it looks when the pros do it as well as this eh).

Was inside 50 count 78 to 28?

Lots of useless long bombs again, forward congestion, perfect opportunity for a specialist zippy little forward to show his class and get 20 possies and a handful of goals.

If the best compliment we can give Jeffy is to say he laid 6 tackles in slippery conditions, then we need to seriously reassess his value to our club.

Careful. You might get labelled a nuffy by an elite talent spotter

Yes, I think you are the only one. Overall his disposal continues to be first rate. Some of his aggressive kicks to position tonight were exceptional

But long bombs tonight created many 50/50 situations which lead to ugly packs from which we kicked several goals. When the ball is slippery, get it in there  ( as they say)

Spot on.

We won’t win any game against good opposition if we continue to blindly handball and play on all the time as the first option.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
