Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Wish I had been to that 200 Grand Final. Those were the days !! They knew how to play footy back then. It was more of a Greco-Roman style, free flowing entertaining.

No you don't... like the '88 GF it wasn't a great day for the MFC.

Now the week before against North was something to see

Saints on 5 behinds just before half time. Sigh!!

Obviously haven't got their 6 goals from frees and 50's like last week. Also the Port forwards and mids are putting on pressure, unlike us.

Good question. Flip a coin.

Either a game out of the top 4, or ta bit of clearance on two teams fighting with us to make finals.

Maybe we get 1 of each.

Gil has clearly given strict instructions to give collingwood a shoulder ride deep into September.

Makes sense a pies v tigers grandfinal would just be a cash cow for the [censored] to line his pockets with.

I’d prefer Pies and Eagles to win. I’d rather make finals more of a certainty than the pipe dream of top 4. We’re going to struggle to make the 8 as it is, so we need results to go our way.

Bombers very competitive against the Pies today. Wish we showed the same endeavor when playing at the MCG!

yep... the loss to Port and Saints certainly ended any realistic chances of top 4.

A resurgent Essendon would be hard to take.

Perhaps a draw would be pleasant .. if not Pies.

North having a good win doesn't help much either.

Collingwood loss would be good opens up one spot in the 4 still.

WC will win be good to keep GWS at bay.

Forget top 4. We’re not deserving of a top 4 finish and will be lucky to make the 8 with our fixture to finish the year.

I’d be happier to concede top 4 spot to Pies (who are better than us) than battle a resurgent Essendon who have an easier fixture.

I'm with you, Trav.  As much as I feel dirty for saying it, the Pies winning today is good for us.  The Eagles doing the same will also come in handy as I think both are pretty much assured a Top 4 spot and we won't catch them.  Having the Bombers and Giants drop games on a weekend we win one is important.

Last week most results went our way, but so far this round with Geelong, North and Hawthorn winning, it's the opposite.

Ideally we need Collingwood and West Coast to win as that gives us a two-game and 30% buffer over Essendon and Adelaide. At this point reducing the number of sides who can take our spot in the 8 is better than sides above us losing and opening up a spot in the top 4 we're not good enough to take.

Currently both Collingwood and West Coast are losing, though.

To make the top 4 we will have to beat some very good teams to close out the year.

We would be more than deserving.  You don't make the top 4 without earning it.

Exactly. It’s Clayton’s logic to suggest we don’t deserve the top 4 just because another club failed to make it. It means *they* don’t deserve top 4.

Anyway, I’ve said I don’t care how other club results affect us. Win the games of footy and ladder position will take care of itself; we won’t need to worry about the teams behind us then. I point blank refuse to barrack for Essendon or Collingwood. I hate them both and wish they could both lose.

That's absolutely right, we control our own destiny. The Geelong, Adelaide, West Coast and Sydney games are all intriguing and important for us.

Regardless, I just can't help but consider how games not involving Melbourne could impact on us.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
