Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Hindsight? I've been saying it every time he plays an insignificant game so nah.

Last week he was wrongly given another week. Yeh, coaches get things wrong. It's okay to admit that.

Cheers for that re Darwin! Much appreciated. Exactly info I was looking for

Tyson could find it difficult to get back in team. Omitted for 2nd time. Slippery conditions would have suited him. Many similar to him now in the side and at Casey. I wonder what the club want him to focus on. Perhaps decision making and accuracy with disposals. I believe he over thinks his game. Weeds probably out because he is not yet sticking his marks and dewy conditions make it more unlikely. He will continue to get chances. Hannan back in Casey to develop more game involvement. Not taking the big marks or creating any x-factor stuff. Again many similar to him at Casey, Mckenna, vandenBerg, Vince, Balic, Hunt and probably Dion and Kenty. Petty probably not again till next year after a full preseason, given his inability to perform in the big show, but you never know.

Don't mind the changes, horses for courses.
Good conditions for the small fleet. Frost is in to bring the high ball down for front and center players. Frost and Tom may be the relief for Max so we also keep a tall in the forward area. Hope he can handle the slippery ball. I like that Garlett is in, hoping he his hungry and can make the most of his chance. If he doesn't may find it difficult to hold his place. Charlie will have freshened up. Billy looking stronger and a bit bigger then before. Hope he gets plenty of ball, shrugs tackles, finds space for his run and hits targets.

Speaking of selection of players to travel to Darwin, I have heard that Demonland's very own cross dressing royalty will be in attendance at the game. Rumour has it he/she will be part of the half time entertainment, perhaps involving music and interpretive dance....

I'm glad it's not the wet season, i don't think i could handle watching us play in the bathwater for a second week in a row

Surely it will be Frost (if he's actually playing forward) or TMac otherwise?

Frost is surely in to play as a tall defender.  He has his limitations in that role, but he was utterly hopeless in his first season as a forward.  I'd prefer Pedersen for that, and that's saying something.  You're right that it'll probably be TMac, but I was really hoping they might let him spend the whole game at full forward for once.  That is where I see him being best suited.

Do I remember rightly that at times in their flag year, Western Bulldogs sometimes didn't contest the ruck? If we did happen to end up with Harmes or some other inadequate contender in there, I wouldn't be adverse to having him just stand in the circle and not jump.  Make up for the mismatch by having an extra inside mid in the contest (or ready to tackle the crap out of the ruckman in case he has any smart ideas about snatching it).

Happy with the inclusions. Thought Baker could squeeze in there at the expense of J.Smith to make as look as quick as we can, but other than that happy.

We queried Maynard and Wagner in Round 1.

We queried Tim Smith and Tyson against Port.

We queried Petty over Frost and no small forward against the Saints.

Goodwin's selections have cost the club 3 wins in an even season. It will most likely cost the club finals.

The sycophants like you that say "I trust the FD" make me sick.

May have cost us wins...  we can’t know the alternative future.  May have contributed to it.

A few muddled mis-matches through the mid field early in the first quarter cost us one or two goals (like Hogan on Ablett where Ablett lost Hogan easily and ran into half forward at one point for the easy receive and goal) and the match against the Cats.  Maynard eventually went to Ablett for a short period mid way through the first and at least prevented him from causing any major damage while he was on.  Admittedly Maynard a big work in progress, especially kicking skills and lacks pace but his work rate / effort is there along with, contested/clearances and tackling.  The hip issue obviously a big set back.

People have been asking for more speed and now we have it but I wanted to talk about J Smith.

He came in following Levers injury, we then looked too short against pies and port so Petty was bought in but Smith some how survived and got to then play as a mid size or rebounding defender role taking over from Vince. He the has a terrible game against the saints, meanwhile Vince shows he wares in the 2s and we commit to Wagner for another year so we must see something in him. Question is how does Smith hold his spot?

You could maybe even try Hannan down back in that role rather than dropping him, hes certainly a better play atm and couldn’t be worse than smith in that role

I trust the FD because I feel I have no choice but to trust the FD. Unlike you I can never say with any level of confidence that my idea would have worked better than the one that was implemented. There have been just as many instances where the collective wisdom potted a FD for a decision and were proven completely wrong. The collective wisdom also only sees a small portion of what has gone in to the decision; the rest is completely invisible to it.

Trusting others to make decisions that are completely out of one’s control doesn’t make that person a sycophant, it just makes them self aware.

I work in an industry where the outcome of the (complex) choices of my team makes become visible to the public, and believe me, the criticism I have seen out there is so misinformed that you have no choice but to laugh and ignore it and get on with the job. As a footy fan, I don’t know if I’m just a woefully misinformed member of the public, but without the decades of experience in the industry I reckon I probably am, and I reckon you probably are too.

By the way, I’m not saying FDs never get things wrong - obviously they do. Neeld’s FD got pretty much everything wrong, it is plainly evident from the results. Just highlighting the danger of assuming we could do a better job from our armchairs.

Brilliant. I think this could have some mileage and become a game time ground entrance innovation. Players come onto the ground with the masks of their favourite GoT character donned. Or else, splashed across the banner.

Side 1: Frosty's namesake Night King.

Side 2: a combo "lower your eyes" and "don't be lazy" in font Comic Sans just to up the ante on the crazy

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
