Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Best balanced team (on paper) all year by a country mile!

Better late than never.........Goody has finally woken up to the need for speed in all 3 sectors of the ground!

Frost, certainly no Lever once he gets the ball, but easily the next best intercept option (Lever was only just ahead before going down) and speeds us up.  Will need backing from the coach to gain confidence early though.  Hope he's told him he's in for a block of games (subject to getting the basics right).  Whether he works out or not who knows.  But the die has to be rolled or season over given the fragility and lack of height (support for O-Mac / Hibb & Lewis) and speed down back IMO.  Also needs to tell him to offload to runners lateral or behind more often so we max his intercepts.  KISS principle for Frost on the disposals pls!

But wait, hold your horses folks!!!  In order to have maximum effect and max our winning opportunity IMHO Goody has to ensure we don't play Viney/Jones/Clarry in the starting 3 through the middle (or at worst for lengthy periods) and certainly no shut down roles by any of those 3 if starting or in together.  Maybe Harmes / ANB sharing such a role for periods of a game on the absolute gun mid fielders but only IF they get off the hook and momentum needs halting/changing.

Goody must BACK and let OUR mid field loose (and the rotations going through there) to join with arguably THE best ruckman in the comp and MAX (yes that's a pun!) our mid field advantage.  No lock downs, subject to an ugly run on needing to be shut down as mentioned.  As soon as it's halted and we are back in the game or a few goals up again, bang....let em loose!  Let the opp chase and try and shut us down once we are in the game or ahead.  Catch us if you can MOFOS!!!   Easily equal to or the best clearance / first use mid field line up in the AFL when we are not tagging and we are on.  Delivery i50 obviously NQR and needing a stack of work.  Would be focusing on this aspect from here if i were Goody along with the work rate/two way running from all (which goes without saying after last week).  Lastly, don't let the press get sucked so high from here on the bigger grounds!

Goody's learned a few hard lessons.  Now he just needs to fine tune in between weeks and have the entire team turn up on game day.  If they do we will barnstorm our way into the finals!

Go Demons!

Not TMac after the coughing up blood against Port.

Frost, Harmes or maybe even Petracca!

I can't understand how jeffy gets a game on the back of his vfl form. Watched tge second half last week and his effort was sub standard.

Squibbed at least two contests big time as well.

Sends a strange message to players like bugg who bust a gut week in wdek out.

I think Goodwin has realised that he cant reinvent the wheel after the Lever injury. Garlett and spargs should have been back in from the Port game.

Welcome back Frosty, Goodwin has finally woken up and common sense has prevailed. Seems to be a better balance all over the ground.

Must say other than his brain fades I like Bugg. People lament his accuracy but kicking 1:4 shows he at least gets the ball.

Frankly the ins do nothing for me in the sense we have had many weeks over recent years where the same merry go round of players go in and out. We should win this weekend but it says nothing about where we are going.

No need for a ruck when Max is resting.  Just play an extra fleet footed (for us!) mid for the crumbs/contesting/tackling eg., Tracc, Brayshaw or ANB.   They don't have Sandi and probably no decent relief ruckman anyway when their main replacement follows Maxy to the bench.  Just need to halve the contests and prevent a run on during the down time.  Back up ruckman are severely overrated and have little if any impact IMO.  Problem solved.

Frost adds strength, height & speed to the backline, his decision making has looked better in the VFL.

Spargo, Stretch & Garlett add speed and crumbing capability.

Garlett not perfect but has kicked 40 goals last three years, yes he has the odd really bad day, but most FPS do across the season!

Stretch has speed, playing really well in VFL, just needs some confidence and be told go for it, give him 4 weeks.

Spargo has done pretty well in his 7 games for a first year player, particularly stepping up at important times.

Frost will spectacularly [censored] up on numerous occasions.

Stretch struggles to make the transition to the AFL.

Garlett will have little impact if it's slippery under foot.

And Spargo is just about due for another rest . . .

But I desperately hope they now lock down this team.

Pedo, Vince, Hannan or Kent in the case of emergency.

Tyson only if it's to replace an injured inside role.

Hunt to be worked back into the team on his return.

I think we just have to go with Jeffy to get him back in form. Waiting for him to get into form in the VFL won’t happen. As for squibbing contests not sure about that I didn’t see those. He adds X factor up forward that we need and hopefully he stays down and crumbs the ball.

Really would like to understand on the ground conditions at 7pm CST mid winter . Based on my basic understanding of the weather it does not look humid nor greasy/dewy

Dewy in Brisbane, Sydney, Darwin more to do with  mild evening temps in Winter makes the grass extremely greasy when the wind is calm.

People lament a lot more than just his goal-kicking accuracy.

He's hesitant with the ball, he makes critical mistakes, so when you add that inaccuracy in, you have a small forward who blows up our scoring chains either by turning it over or missing.

I will say though that his strengths are in running, tackling and pressure, so if we continue to struggle with the defensive side of things then I wouldn't be surprised to see him get another chance soon.

I'm not a fan of Frost, nor of Stretch. Frost will turn it over or get caught holding the ball, and Stretch may well struggle with the contested side of the game. But I'm content to accept that those things will happen and back them in to fix us up in areas we know we need to be fixed in (run, carry, pace).

Agree re: Tyson - he plays as an inside midfielder playing a high proportion of his game time in the middle four, or he doesn't play at all.

Well tonight , Sydney is 19 it was 25 there today.

As the exposed surface cools by radiating its heat, atmospheric moisture condenses at a rate greater than that at which it can evaporate, resulting in the formation of water droplets.

Gets Greasy at the Gabba too .

The way the ball is bombed into our forward line I’m surprised that Goodwin didn’t go with a couple of smalls weeks ago.

It’s just a band aid solution to our real issues of inefficient inside 50’s in my opinion but I hope it works. Need our big forwards clunking and converting.

And those delivering from outside 50 to hit targets and lower eyes.  Like jack Watts used, and not like Jack Viney Nathan Jones do  now.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
