Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

O Mac can accept a $2000 fine for the Marshall clash. Careless conduct with low impact to the head as judged by Mr MRO.

Some of us believed it didn’t deserve a 50m penalty. I thought you were allowed to compete for the ball. What’s one to do when in midair? Stick out an elbow out like Jeremy Cameron?

I didn't think it deserved anything. He had already left the ground and wasn't that late. The 50 was too harsh, but the club will likely just accept this

A selection of Demonland comments regarding the standard of umpiring vs. Port:

Nicholls is a cheating dog.

Curl up and d^^ Nicholls.

Nicholls again. Dead set [censored]

Nicholls must be investigated.

The club must step up and make a complaint about that cheating dog Nicholls....Blatantly favouring Port.

I can't remember leaving a Matthew Nicholls game happy that it has been officiated well.

From the very start of the third quarter, it was just a string of dodgy calls from this pin-head - call after call after call against us.

Excuse my language, but that umpire Nicholls is a [censored] [censored] camel [censored] [censored] stain

Blatant cheats. Nicholls is the worst, before the Port game he waved and winked to two Port fans in the crowd.

I hate Nicholls- he's a trounced up affront to humanity.

Those comments were from last year

That blokes cut-off tweet is telling. Richmond lost 3 very close games that they could have won. We've lost 1 (maybe 2 if you count the Port game). We're a bit off where they were at this time last year, and they were in no way flying then.

Some of you guys take things too literally.

The tweet isn't necessarily comparing us exactly to the Tigers.  It simply suggests that there is plenty of the season left and there have been other teams, in similar positions, who in the past have overcome it.  Some make finals, some win a few of those finals and, in the Tigers case, they won a flag.  Doesn't mean we'll do the same.  It means that we can still make some noise if we wish to and have a terrific back end to the season.

Not laying the blame at JH's feet for our last two losses but his onfield presence was a major part of our recent run of success.

He has the ability as we all know. Up to the coaches to get it right. A quarter on the ball or down back for a little while.. whatever it takes but without him in form we will struggle

Max has tweeted this morning that at least we didn’t “trash the brand” as we have done in the past. Wow, that is such a relief. I can get on with life, snap out of my anger and depression about last night and thoroughly enjoy the rest of the weekend knowing that our “brand” is secure. I absolutely love Max, but fair dinkum.......

Sometimes you lose games, doesn't mean the team is cooked, club has no heart etc

I was filthy last night because it was a game we should've won. We didn't take advantage of our opportunities/ dominance and made some stupid decisions/lacked composure. Once the pain if the loss subsides though I'm actually proud of the fight the team showed, especially in the last when it felt like our players were going down left and right, the umpires were giving us nothing and Port had 40k supporters willing them over the line.

That's the second game this year we "should've" won but lost. We'll be 6th after this round at 8-5. We really should be 2nd (=1st) at 10-3. It's frustrating but it's not the end of the world/season. We'll make finals and get that much needed September experience/belief that we can actually do it. We get a chance to make amends in Adelaide in a month or so.

Why are so many people frothing at the mouth for Garlett?

He has shown, time and time again, that he goes missing in big games and when the heat is on.  How many big games over the last few years has he not shown up for?  His form has been average at best at Casey, and in a hotly contested, hard tackling game like last night, he would have had more chance of not giving us anything than being some sort of match winner.

The issue isn't what we're doing when the ball hits the deck, it's the way we create space for each other and the delivery inside 50.  Garlett wouldn't have change much of that, and unless he is ripping it up at Casey, I'd continue to look elsewhere.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder

Annoys the [censored] out of me. Bloke sleeps with the light on, has zero recent form playing in the Reserves and has played one decent game in the Seniors this year against Brisbane. But he has speed of course...speed isn’t much good when you can’t get the ball.

Sorry Timbo...had a lengthy reply last night then hit wrong window..

( Problems with phone...be aware any and all...the Pixel has PROBLEMS !! )

anyhow..

The biggest offender is Petracca. Needs to go find his appetite for a whole game of efforts back in the Magoos ( reboot )

ANB is a yoyo. Classic flat tracker...game going well..he shines.Game going septic...lost at sea.

Was an advocate of Dom a long while. Much of his contribution goes unseen...but he's no Champagne Footballer currently...all fizz..no pop.

Jones for allhis gusto and flying of flags is a serial offender of turning it over... beyond normal.

Lets play Jesse-lotto !!!

Salem needs to step up to his capabilities...he flies under radars as more/others draw the light. Waxs and Wanes

A number have contracted the fumbles..is odd.

The Smiths were a good group...not lighting the stage up for us.

Another offender is the guy in the box. The seeming inability to step outside of this "brand" rubbish and learn to tailor to requirements is very Moby Dick. Hinkley must have salivated that we didn't adapt.

There were a number of areas where we lost. We had no control over the abysmal umpiring. We DID have control over selection ( even Simon conceded it was wrong...in hindsight...some here saw it immediately on Thursday !! )

We had control over setup and style.

What is it they say a out repeating same and expecting a different outcome ?

What a load of twaddle

1. Westoff exploited the lack of height in defence a couple of times

2. We went back to the old habit of bombing it into the 50, easy fix

Stick to training

Goodwin did admit, Westhoff exploited

My opinion

I go to training, the lower the eyes is a constant mantra, players need to listen

Well imagine that I said pre game we would have to put the  breaks on Bloody Westhoff . If I can see it why cant the match committee??

It surely cant be that hard. If players aren't listening or up to it and continually make the same mistakes then DROP THEM!!!

This happens time and agin it was a perceived danger than put some more thought into match ups

CHEEZUS!!

Went to the game at Adelaide from Perth. It was a personal hell. Umpiring made me almost walk out. The poor delivery skills and decision making by the Dees ( when critical )

compounded it.

At the end of the day it seems you cant hang your hat on 'stats'. It is quality and not quantity that wins games.

A Game that I dont know if I could bare to rewatch or review....

Sad Face.....

Picket, it's pressure, we need games like Friday night to learn to absorb and keep the skills high

Would assume it was thought we could cover Westhoff, but unfortunately didn't work a couple of times, having a minute or two walk and then a 30sec on top helps you kick goals though

Goodwin said in hindsight perhaps we should have gone taller, he learns as well, still haven't got the Lever missing sorted

Westoff always kicks two goals against us, said it before the start, if Port only kicked two goals for the game , he still would get both of them, already pencilled him in for next year , wonder what the odds are.

Gee I would give my left nut for a player who could kick a goal from outside 50 consistently. Worth there weight in gold, look at Sicily's goals last week. We need one of those classy finishes badly.

Respect for travelling all that way to see your team :)

But, surely you enjoyed the contest? Every player did not take a backward's step, in a sniping, hostile environment! Even Jack flipped Dixon!

This intensity is now a minimum

I have some optimism now

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
