Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What!!!????

What about the mysterious ruck free to Hawkins for a goal, the chopped arms ( still a mark ) to TMac dead in front, and the 50 against Harmes as he desperately tried to get away, resulting in a goal???

Also there was a trip by a Geelong player diving on the ball, also dead in front.

We were lucky on one occasion when Jetta interfered running back with the flight, though he tried to watch the ball.

Who cares, it all didnt matter because we were up by 2 points when JKH sprayed it across the face, Up by 3 when Garlett got his snap spoiled through. We had the game to win and didnt take it.

yeah, yeah yeah.  Glad we have a supporter who doesn't mind bad umpiring.    Yes we made mistakes and lost the match. Doesn't mean that gifted goals to the oppo and missed frees in front for us are irrelevant to the result.

Agree Sue.

One glaring consistency in all of our 4 close losses is gifted goals to the opposition and several taken off us or not paid. 6 goals each to Port and Saints and one to us. Yesterday at least 4 off free kicks or the next kick after the free. Marks not paid, frees missed to us.

Yes we also share blame, but am looking forward to a game where it goes the other way and the opposition blame the umpires for losing to us.

So today we find out Harmes has a broken  hand probably from having the ball kicked out of his hands in the last quarter. No free play on and Geelong get a goal.

Our young first year player gets smashed by Hawkins while laying on the ground. Hawkins gets off.

Plus the rest of the bulls#$t frees on Saturday night and the club does nothing.

We're so polite and soft off the field as well. Why doesn't our club stand up for our players?

Meanwhile at the NRL coaches call it like it is and refs get dropped when they fup.

How many times over the course of a round of football will a player 'take a mark' and stop, despite the umpires screaming 'touched, touched, touched'? The result of every single one of these is benefit of the doubt, player didn't hear it.

Then in a ruck contest, Geelong nominate a confusing ruck, that ruck then runs at his opposite number, rather than the ruck contest, and is paid a free kick for blocking. Where the [censored] is the benefit of the doubt? Not one player had any idea Dangerdick was rucking.

At least we know how to fix up our i50-goal conversion. Every stoppage inside forward 50, nominate whoever is being tagged and get them to run at the tagger. Free kick - goal.

I still think Ablett quite clearly pushed Brayshaw in the back when Brayshaw went in to get it in that last 30 seconds.

We've seen tackles like that get called for pushes in the back repeatedly in the last few weeks. Ablett didn't even try to roll him over like Salem did when he got pinged last week against the Dogs.

Nothing is as bad as the protected zone 50m penalty against Harmes, though.

3 dopey [censored] afl rule changes resulting in 3 goals for jeelong

1. Third man up rule - staged by dangermouse

2. Protected area rule - what did harmes do wrong

3. Deliberate point rule - looked like harmes was under pressure to me given he was tackled

Stupid dumb bloody rule changes with inadequate foresight or interpretation are ruining the game

not to say cost us the game

The maggots are compromised by the AFL, and they haven't got the guts to own up to it. Fancy telling your kids you umpired a hundred games of AFL and you cheated to favor one side over another..........sleep well.

But the AFL is ahead of the NRL where the teams employ ex-referees to coach players into how to cheat.  Some AFL clubs don't use ex-refs, they get the active umps to do it.

I've got two things i like to watch, Anderson Cooper for mirth and the AFL Footy for hope. I am now becoming quite desperate about the latter.

Gotta hand it to the Boys in yellow tonight. The were not as noticeable, but just as hopeless. Tried their best in the dying stages to change history, but to no avail thanks to Eddie and the rain.............

There were several incorrect disposal decisions not paid against The Crows in the first half that had my 2 young kids scared s@$!less such was my rage at the TV.

Infuriating.

There were two instances in the last quarter where there crow players with the ball did not make any kind of legitimate disposal, yet were not penalised as a result. On the other hand, at least one Melbourne incorrect disposal in the last quarter was ignored too. Is it only paid on a whim by these  disgraceful excuses for umpires??

They're working to a poorly written set of rules, have been overseen for years by people who don't actually know the rules themselves, are compromised by imperatives from "on high" to make the game "entertaining", have a suspect training regime, and are permitted conflicts of interest. All overlaid by the bizarre existence of ever-changing "interpretations" of the rules.

Is it any wonder that refereeing of games appears mostly random, seasoned with a healthy dose of home town decisions?

Some strange and absurd situations in sport that we'll never see.

In tennis, one end of the court is doused in water for one game then dried off again

In soccer, one goal area is doubled in size for 5 minutes

In snooker, an extra pocket appears right in the centre of the table in the middle of a break

In basketball, the ring is lower at one end of the court for the final 2 minutes

In AFL Aussie rules, the games are refereed by AFL trained umpires

The best one- Adelaide plays on to advantage. Ball moves to next contest where Crows are beaten.  Umpire calls it back after about 15 seconds.  They Cannot Do That!

the deliberate oob, and not calling all the Crows incorrect disposals.  Frosty was stiff to give up that goal after the calls of the previous 5 minutes.  Plucked from the anus for maximum goal scoring opportunity

Even that soft as butter 50.

We still won.

It really is unbelievable, or it would be if we didn't see similar outrages every match, every week

The umpiring is in crisis and the AFL's answer is to paint more lines on the ground

In our game against Geelong when the Geelong player was kicking for goal after the siren and we had about 10 players on or behind the mark. Would it be legal to have had players behind the mark held up a tall player on their shoulders to make the man behind the mark another 2 feet taller, not only off-putting but would require the kicker to change their trajectory, given they cannot run around?

Ai thought the umpiring was reasonable last night they got a few calls in the last quarter but with the wind and tide going in Adelaides direction and a feral crowd they held up pretty well .

Stevic is one of the most even handed refs and I'd be happy to see him out there for us more often

Last night the game was let go with lots of iffy calls ignored .

Of course Gusses new mate Razor would be welcome too

It depends on whether it's Selwood, Dangerfield, or Martin doing it, or if it's at an Adelaide or WCE home game (although ... the ump would never permit a free against so close to goal at the death).

Have a look at the disposal by Gibbs that went to Eddie in the last minute. Best one handed throw you will ever see and of course not paid, shortly after Jones pinged for throwing on the wing.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
