Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ

We must be based next to the Richmond Railway Station. Our social hub has to be right at the station and overlook our training facility. Even if we have to build over Olympic Boulevard to do that.

Easy access to public transport is a MUST.   For dining patrons and for our supporters with disability.   Not to mention functions before and after.

Its time this Demon outfit was turned into a True Blue Aussie-Rules CLUB. for all people.

An Social & Office setup above the section of tram tracks that turn past the Clay Tennis Courts of Tennis Australia would benefit public transport users as it will allow some undercover shelter for Hot Summer'y or Winter'y conditions, servicing the precinct.

It would need be built Over the Tram tracks & the section of parkland at opposite 112 Olympic Boulevard Melbourne Vic, and across Olympic Boulevard right to the edge of Gosch's Paddock...  Overseeing the training grounds.

DV8, you have my vote.  We need imagination and to think big.

If we accept next best we have lost the game. We are Melbourne. Our heart is Melbourne. Emotionally, , historically, tradition wise, and our future is Melbourne. Our future is not a facility in the burbs that has no relevance to our history or our future.

How about Fed square, never really quite got the architecture, there,

  • Build a Gym in the VR ballroom across the road,
  • central,
  • close to public transport, and
  • across the road from Y and J's

Perfect

OH and sign up Apple as our new BOJ sponser

We could create an AFLX rectanglur pitch in the upstairs Flinders Street ball room

Why ? The Hawks left their home land 20 years ago and they seem to have done alright since.

They are now moving to Dingly, not exactly close to Hawthorn.

The undeniable problem is that with the exception of Goschs there is no viable alternative in the inner suburbs.

IMO it is make Goschs work or head for the outer suburbs.

Post hoc ergo propter hoc, old dee.

Why not on the recently cleared site across the tracks from Festival Hall? Plenty of space, inner city blank canvas.

I suspect something is brewing and very much doubt that we would only have plan A (Yarra Park) unless we had some assurances that it's a goer.

It's quite possible we have another proposed site and this is all just part of the long game. The Yarra proposal may well be smoke and mirrors.

We brought Pert on for his expertise in these type of projects so lets see what he brings to the table.

Nor hidden a a treelined cul-de-sac... off broadway.  We are not the stuffy Melbourne club.

We should be out & about for all to see, and know its us.   High Profile site.

We are the original Australian Rules footy club, for Hells sake..  the Melbourne Footy Club.  Where all are welcome, to come and to enjoy. a Three or Four story building, adjoining Richmond station, and bridging over the 'Olympic Boulevard' Tram lines and footpaths, & that peers over and through the trees surrounding Gosch's Paddock is Us.

Building across Olympic Boulevard is easier and cheaper to do, than to build above and over the Jolimont Rail-line.

And especially so, in conjunction with the building over of the Richmond Railyards and lines... that will join the McG to the Richmond station, in near future.

Doesn’t need to remain Gosch’s Paddock! Simply swap with the other codes so that we are the one right on Olympic Boulevard  (and our new facilities spanning it)!

Docklands has serious wind problems from my observation.

Don't laugh but is Gosch's Park plus a private subway to an admin and gym facility across the road a possibility?

Would need to be done as part of a precinct upgrade which is sure to be done anyway with Richmond station and surrounds.

Hmm I hope you are correct Ernest but I doubt it. I am pinning my hopes on no.2 GD. She is only 15 months so I will have to live a fair bit longer to get her over the line.

Get a building near Goschs is my wish probably the easiest and quickest, now to that is not say it is easy just the most likely option.

Nice touch with GD 2. You will definitely live on.

And our alter egos will have a drink together at the new Social Club. Along with all the other alter egos who inhabit this remarkable site.

Imagine that, all coming out!

Although we will need to ensure that the bar has a selection of single malts.

I don't understand why posters are suggesting the proposal is dead and buried simply because labor have said they won't 'support' the proposal.

This statement is meaningless. A clever clogs way of not risking any votes in marginal electorates.

Firstly, i might be wrong, but it is my understanding the CoM has planning authority for yarra park, not the State government. I assume the state gov could somehow take control in the way they have with fishermen's bend but why would they?

Secondly, and of most significance, positions change and if lying is the first language of footy, well then it is the only language of politics.

I mean please would anyone seriously be surprised if a government (of any persuasion) made such statement and then did the opposite, particularly a wishy washy statement statement such as 'not support' (as opposed to a more definitive - 'we will ensure it does no proceed' - which would still not rule out a change of heart).

There are any number of examples, but a topical one is the safe injecting rooms in Richmond. Labor unequivocally opposed them prior to the last election and hey presto 3 years later opens one and starts building a proper facility. Thankfully i might add.

And by the by what a peanut Guy is for saying he will close it in his first week  if elected - despite its evident success in reducing fatal and non fatal overdoses and demand on paramedics and ambos. What sort of policy decision is that? Peanut

Red, I assume you would be happy if it was in your backyard ?

Any options down your way?

If not there is a derelict Manor ripe for redevelopment down Romsey way, wherever the hell that may be.

Well it's not quite in their backyard.

How far away is the closest member of that group to Yarra Park?

The project is designed to improve where the oval will go with nice trees and a usable ground for everyone, together with a building over a railway line. I will bet no one lives within a hundred yards of the oval and would not be able to see the building from their property.

Most likely means there will be more people watching them not pick up their dog droppings and that is why they are against it.

How lucky are they to live not too far from Yarra Park and the gardens opposite the Hilton?

Top of the list Ernest.

I must say having a social club does little for me.

I just want a good training and Office set up for the players and sundry officials.

Achieve that I will be very happy and to be honest I don't care where it is located.

Not one sod will be turned in our lifetimes binman. I am glad I am not as dead as that project.

The most likely out come of the election is a Labor and Greens government. It does not have a pray in hell chance while there are Greens pulling the strings. Second most likely is a Libs win, no chance even in Hell.

Wrong on 2 of  3 counts OD (pardon the pun). Well more accurate to say wrong on the second and i disagree with the first

I think the project will happen.

Labor will win this election easily and will not have to rely on the Greens to form government.

Odds are not everything - and really they simply reflect polling - but currently labor are 1.14 to win the election. That is seriously short. Shorter than Winx. For context they were 1.70 two weeks ago, and 1.20 yesterday.

But the more interesting market is for the likelihood of a majority government being formed. Two weeks ago it was basically even money. it is now 1.40. This is a refection of the fact The Greens have had a horror two weeks. Could not have been worse for them.

And for those dismissing the odds as meaningless, i'd say two things. Seriously big money is now bet on elections. And there is very little emotion involved.

Secondly whilst polling has been been sketchy in recent times i think that might be a blip and are likely to be pretty accurate this year - particularly with so many votes having already been cast.

how stupid of the club to announce this idea before an election, this things are always used as an election issue, now labour has had to reject this proposal. well done stupid club.

They didn’t announce it before the election! The East Melbourne Group (of Nimbbys) are using it to pressure the politicians of all parties into opposing it! None of their leaders are likely to vote Green but they are using the process to their advantage as they know that this is the month when the politicians are likely to support/oppose anything that will get them votes!

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
