Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Petracca in a rut?

He has gone way downhill since appearing on the Footy Show with mindless Sam and Creepy Eddie. He is immature and considers himself 'a cut above' whilst producing nothing exceptional for so long - a typical case of ego-mania - when potential is not released from hard work and training, and purposeful execution on the field. A hard and severe Casey workout is required to quell his impressions of grandeur for a firm focus on fitness, core skills improvements and his role for the team. Disappointing season that so easily could be rectified - and in a very short period of time.

In the vernacular..." He has tickets on himself"

He needs...'restyling'

Personally, I hate it when players are criticised for their “demeanour”. If you think you can understand what’s going on in a person’s mind by the snippets you see of their face, you’re just wrong. You can’t.

It also doesn’t matter if he’s never been angry on the footy field. Anger is a complex emotion and not everyone reacts constructively to it. If you think you can tell he isn’t taking it seriously because he’s not angry, you’re wrong. You can’t.

Then there’s those complaining about his public comments about wanting to be the best. Watts was potted mercilessly about his comments that he moved on pretty quickly from losses, so we get a competitive, ambitious youngster in, and suddenly that’s no good either.

People, honestly, stop going looking for reasons to criticise our players. It’s stupid to criticise Petracca now when he’s just played one of his best games of the year. It is possible to just enjoy the ride sometimes without needing to be pissed about something, y’know?

There are a couple of players in the wings of abeyance that soon may be ready to contribute to our run for the finals.

As there is space on our AFL listing (perhaps at this stage, Lewis, Bernie - sob - , Smith), I am champing at the bit to see a return of Vandenberg, Dean Kent and Hunt with perhaps a 'permanent' bench-man, Pedersen. We could be using the bench more fortuitously where the likes of Petracca (down on form but potent), ANB (down on form but prodigal), Keilty (up on form but untried), Spargo (down on form but enthusiastically quick) could all come in, including momentary trials of Baker for the wings. I'd also rate Frosty as our best 'rest of season' CHBack whose running and clearing could augment that of what we have and what could come off the bench for instant 'drive' and aggression.

We know, but moving forward in a successful culture still needs to take place and at the moment, Petracca, for example, could be moved forward in quite a few regards.

In short YES it is Nasher. Thankyou.

Trac played a really well balanced game last week and I look forward to seeing him try to continue to do so this week.

Stop the bashing on the developing beast.

He will tear the dogs apart this weekend. No pun intended. I think he was spoken to and has no ambition to play in the 2’s . This weekend will be his best game yet.

You're quite condescending of late eh Nasher.

Do you bother to read a lot of comments ? I wonder.

Quite simply the lad has a long way to go. Immensely talented...but hardly consistent...nor continuous of effort/effect.

What you deign to call logic is nothing of the kind.

Also what you want to brush as hate..is also nothing of the kind. It's called opinion. It's not hate. Try looking the word up for its meaning. Some folk rate him as an ability...just not his application.

There's an opinion that he's just a bit ahead of his actual accomplishment.

He wouldn't be the first.

I'd love the bloke to play as many, here and the general footy following ( public and media ) think he might.

Hes made his own bed.

Wish him all the best with this, it can be nothing else than fabulous for the MFC. Shame that it is taking so long to occur, as there have been a few losses lately where his input across a game might have otherwise been improved, made more reliable and certainly, assist the team to snatch a win. He is the driver from whom aggressive, successful football might otherwise be achieved. Mixed tense but it has been across a few weeks whilst waiting ... a stable position, role and readiness has not been given to him from the FD - and might well represent the reason for his lapse in form and impact.

Credit where it's due, he has impressed me in the last 3 weeks, game and career high 8 tackles v Cats. To me he is an out and out midfielder, he stars in there and can own games. His goal accuracy and scoreboard ability has dropped off and if he can ever build a tank he can be a star. I don't blame him for his brain fade, full credit to him for stepping up a few weeks back when his back was against the wall. Just needs more fitness and we need the ball in his hands more often.

A very solid month of footy for Trac.  Hes back to his fine form of the first month of the season.  Settling into his role well and using his frame and power to impact contests.

Could be our wildcard in the run home as he can go up another level or two.    Can not wait to see him next season with another preseason under his belt...  and lets not forget he doesn't turn 23 until January and has played only 56 games.

Improving by the week.

I was particularly impressed with his game last night as it looked like he copped a nasty hit to the shoulder, yet was still able to display incredible strength and creativity in the stoppages.

Expect a lot of centre bounces featuring Petracca, Oliver and Brayshaw over the next decade. Exciting stuff.

Has improved quite a bit in the past few weeks but still has one infuriating habit...

He tries too often to kick off one step and ends up floating the ball too high.. When he gets a free or a mark he needs to get back quickly and assess options. Always feels like he is going to kick into the man on the mark.

Has also had a terrible year goal kicking....

Been a positive month for him, felt like he really stood up when needed. Last season he really felt like a big game player who when he was on could tear apart the lesser sides, but just wasn't consistent enough to do it.

It's maybe a reason his start to the season was so dissapointing. We just expected that his inconsistency would disappear just because he is a year older when in reality it only got worse because he was trying to find his spot in the team. His performances against Geelong and Adelaide, busting through packs and hard running really shows what he is capable off. I always wanted him to be a forward because i thought he was so hard to match up on if your a defender, but his time in the midfield has been much better than his stint up forward.

IMO he is a half forward and he could be a champion across half forward. He does not have the tank to play in the mid field. So why can't we use him at what he does best?

Players are not born with air tanks, they grow them, Via hard work, hard running, hard training.

It's time Petracca started to work harder in all areas. And then he CAN play the midfield...   as can Hogan.

Is fast becoming one of our most frustrating players.

Made 3 terrible errors in the first 5 minutes against Sydney. Does some really good things and has talent to burn.

His one-step high balls that he kicks makes me want to scream. FFS man go back from the mark and kick it long and low.

A few of us were discussing this very thing last night. He's not alone....but one of our worst offenders.

1st minute he had the opportunity to handball to a running Jeff Garlett into open goal but selfishly elected not to and got ran down holding the ball.

Garlett rightly gave him a massive spray.

Your right blzb,  but I don't care about his antics... rather I want him more professional, in getting supper fit and losing 4Kgs of puppy fat, increasing his speed and endurance.

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
