Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Max gave more around the ground? Today?  We must have been watching different games.

Grundy only had 13 touches and took 1 mark for the whole day.  He beat him in the middle as the game wore on, but Gawny held him very well once the contest spread.

I'm so upset about this loss. I had a feeling within the first 10 minutes that we were going to be outrun and out classed today. In fact I have been nervous about this game all week.

I don't know what else to say except any hopes we had of being there at the pointy end of September have gone up in smoke.

My husband has come home and put the replay on so I think I might just go to bed and hope I wake up in the morning feeling better. Nothing like rubbing a bit of salt in the wound.

Hogans attititude and performance????

Do we keep him or do some serious trading for Lynch?

Did you just suggest trading Hogan for Lynch?

I can't even believe what I'm reading.  We say some rubbish after losses but this sort of stuff classifies as toxic waste.

Of all the players to criticise today, and you could be justified in criticising plenty, I don't feel Joel Smith is one of them.  Was terrific in the first term when the Pies were all over us and contested really well all day.  He got first crack and filling in for Lever and did so quite admirably.  Has 16 touches and 6 tackles - the only players to have more were Oliver and, believe it or not, Spargo (who someone else potted a little earlier as well).

He'll be in the side for the rest of the year if he keeps putting in performances like those.  Petty might get a run at some stage but I feel more confident with him in the backline than I do with either Frost or Wagner.

A great tackle, but fumbled way too much, and consistently out positioned.  He might find his feet, but he needs to discover the pace at AFL level.

Shout out to Tom McDonald who has now kicked an amazing 25 goals in  just 7 games.

Too bad he missed the first 5 games, he would be on track to kick 70+ and win the Coleman.

He now leads the league in goals per game.

So you want to trade Hogan after 1 poor game???

Enough said!

For Lynch yes. Not the first time he’s spooked it up. Was standing in the middle of the ground arguing with Melksham.

And you [censored] I believe I asked a question.

Except, the way I see it, the key reason we lost the game was we got smashed in around the ground clearances. So to say Gawn beat him around the ground, IMO, is completely wrong.

I'm sure Max will bounce back, but today was his chance to really cement his AA credentials and Grundy snatched it from him.

Hogan has had a great year, but TMac is currently the better player because of his contested marking.

Hogan's contested marking was off the charts in his first year, but I feel like he is spending more time collecting possessions via his workrate, that his big marks have dropped off a bit.

I watched it from London, I could see from the first quarter this wasn’t our day. We have serious question marks over our ability to compete when the heat is on.

Our ball winners failed to do enough early (or throughout the game), they wanted the game more, they tackled harder and didn’t let up. Credit to them they are much improved and genuine finals contenders (not going to put them in the premiership conversation yet).

Bye comes now, we’re back to the pack a bit and we have a big game against Port after the bye, we have a good record against them but they’ll be chock full of confidence.

The run comes to an end. Time to reload for the rest of the year.

Don't take the bait.

You'll be on here all night.

For some reason I'm very calm about today.  Much to learn from the game and we will.

OK, we had a stinker. Everything went against us particularly the bounce of the ball which seemed to be projected by Shane Warne many times when we went for it. Richmond lost to Weagles by eight goals.  Does that mean they can't win the flag again? Don't think so. We had a downer but after 6 brilliant wins in a row we were due for one. Colingwood, on the other hand, could not have played any better. Just think folks if Maxy hadn't missed that sitter against Geelong we would be clear second right now. Living in Perth and with no Foxtel I have only seen Melbourne live three times this year against Richmond, Hawthorn and Collingwood. Oh dear, I certainly haven't seen the Demons at their brilliant best have I?. Maybe I am a jinx. Not sure if I should watch the Port Adelaide game after the bye.

Most disappointing thing was today felt like déjà vu of round 23 last year, it’s like we learnt nothing since then. We had no answer to there run and spread last time or this time. You don’t want to throw the baby out with the bath water as we are probably better than 12 other teams but their is some questions that need answering if this year is to be anymore the a foray into the 8

I rarely offer wisdom on such matters but if I can offer some subtle advice. Divorce him. Divorce him right now.

Hopefully that helps.

FIrst half decent team in 6 weeks and we get found out in a big way - make no mistake, this was a smacking.

No Reid, Elliot, Moore - and they made us look second rate.

Unbelievable unaccountability today - I've never seen so many loose players, and so many of our guys with no appetite for the contest.  Hogan?  Where were you?  Skirted the packs all day.

Deemoralised.

We said that last year

I forgot the rule where you can only ever learn from a lesson once. We got outplayed in the middle. We played in a finals-like atmosphere. We struggled with spread again at the MCG. I believe we will learn from the loss.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
