Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Changes v Collingwood

It would appear with Jake Lever’s knee injury that we will be looking closely at our defenders in tomorrow’s Casey game v Williamstown.

There is no shortage of defenders of all shapes, sizes and age to cover the vacant position - Joel Smith (ironically hampered by injuries over the past 12 months), Sam Frost, Jayden Hunt and a couple of novices in Declan Keilty and Harry Petty.

The only reason I think Sam Frost may get the nod is the fact that we need someone on Mason Cox.  We may feel confident enough for that man to be Oscar, but I get the feeling that if he plays well tomorrow then Frost may get the nod.

I think Melksham will face a test, he was great but was clearly struggling with that ankle. Smith wasn't the same after that knock, and did seem a bit proppy late in the game (cramps?)

Outs: Melksham (inj), Lever (inj),

In: Balic, Hunt

Collingwood have a few jets, having Hunt in might not hurt. If Melksham can't get up, Balic might fit that role.

Agree with the Mason Cox comment unless they want to pull the trigger and use a runner down back and use Omac on Cox?

Personally I would rather it not be Frost.

Omac is the obvious one for Cox.

It will depend a lot on the game tomorrow but I would like to see Petty in before Frost.

Maybe a year early but hey the kid is a much better prospect.

I will understand though if the FD don't want to throw him straight into a QB clash and they go with the easier Frost option but he is seriously bad for my health when he's around the ball or has it.

A huge opportunity for our tall backs to make a statement at Casey tomorrow.

Frost, Petty, Keilty, J Smith...     who wants it?

Out lever and in Hunt. The filth rely on smaller running players for their goals. Hunt would be good coz of speed. If smith goes ut see how the weed plays against williamstown.

9 days, will be interesting if Melksham can get up after that. I'd say it's wide open on who gets in. Tyson probably in pole, because Ped is in rotation with the talls. Frost and Hunt will battle it out for Lever's role.

Joel Smith to replace Lever

Whether Jeffry can replace Spargo or Pedo/Weid can replace Smith remains to be seen tomorrow. The good sides usually have the system to replace players. This injury will test us no doubt

Here is the usual 'drop/rest' Spargo talk that we get each week.  Did you see the piece of play where he got the ball on half back, hand passed it off and then sprinted forward to make another option before hitting a target inside 50?  You don't get that from Garlett, but you get it from Charlie.  I hope he plays in the seniors for the rest of the season.

Why is everyone suggesting Joel Smith to replace Lever? Has he been excelling in a key defensive post at Casey? Can't recall seeing him named as an emergency for us yet this year. He's too short and small to play key defensive post at 191cms and 88kgs. Wouldn't he be competing for Hibberd or Vince's spot?

I'd expect Frost to replace Lever, Keilty if he has another ripper game tomorrow and they think he's ready.

Was named as an emergency today.

Depends on Collingwood's structure.

Oscar is the logical match up for Mason Cox at FB. Jetta to DeGoey. Lewis, Salem on the flanks.

Frost seems unlikely. Could be an option for Stephenson if they are worried about his pace. Could play CHB but it isn't his strength.

Joel Smith makes sense to play CHB on a tall if the Pies play another one.

Hunt if they want to play another runner and use Hibberd/Vince as the talls.

Harry Petty is the smokey if they want height and want to give him a run at CHB.

Completely agree.. Again on todays game spargo showed he's made this position his own. Lowers his eyes . Chases. Beautiful kick. Hard runner. Mature beyond his years in a tight spot. Doesn't panic.

Lets all move on.

Lever is what, 194 and 90 or so? He's not a strong big body, he's mobile and good overhead. And fit.

Joel Smith is far more like for like as a roaming CHB than Frost. Big Frost has size and speed but is more suited deep one on one. His endurance and positioning gets found out up the ground.

I suggest you see your doctor. Frost is a damned good player.would walk into many teams. Not many combine his height and speed.Yes, makes the odd mistake but he creates some great plays

Yes but he is not a natural footballer, he is a big strong athlete with acceleration for sure but I don’t think he is the answer.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
