Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jake Lever injury - Confirmed ACL

No concrete news yet, but there was a clip on afl.com of him leaving the hospital/doctors being harassed by journalist and he was walking unaided with a barely noticeable limp. When probed if he'd done his ACL he said not sure and doctor wasn't sure and he didn't wanna talk about it further. I feel if it was full blown ACL he'd have been on crutches? I'm still hopeful it's just a strain and he'll be back after 4-6 weeks.

Clip of Lever is in the first part of this video http://www.afl.com.au/video/2018-06-03/rance-will-be-embarrassed

Also, great to see Rance come under attention in a negative way for once. The guy's a dirty cheating piece of sh*t, and probably the most over-rated player in the history of the game. Never seen a guy get so much praise for losing so many one-on-one contests. When I checked 2 weeks back, he had conceded the second most amount of goals out of all full backs this season, despite Richmond flying!

We can hope...

Unfortunately in David Schwartz’s book, I think he said that after his third acl injury he was able to go camping and fishing between the injury and the scans/confirmation.

Must say I am having flashbacks to the Schwartz injuries. Very good player but never the same after those knee injuries. What might have been!

Interesting thing with repeat ACL ruptures. The physical test we use to assess ACL patency is the 'Lachman's' test, and in my experience and statistically, they reveal more 'give' on reconstructed knees than non. If the tests pre-MRI are suggesting some laxity with inconclusive 'end-feel' (when the ligament snaps tight), it's not easy to be definitive. If the MRI is now inconclusive, I'd suggest he'll now have a sneaky arthroscopy to get the real status of the ACL. I'll admit that as much as you can rupture an ACL in innocuous fashion, yesterday's was particularly innocuous. My first thought was a meniscal tear (cartilage), given it may have been vulnerable post first reconstruction. That would be a whole lot better, so here's hoping.

Didn’t Dale Morris do one pre-season and play yesterday?

Partial tear, and because he's 35 years old, they decided to roll the dice and leave it un-reconstructed. Don't be surprised if it doesn't hold up.

Fascinating Webber.

Years ago I remember hearing that many NFL players had knee surgery as a preventative action much like having your tonsils or appendix out before heading to Antarctica. Do you know if that still happens?

Nope, and never did. Must have been some other 'preventative' surgery.

Unless you're talking about meniscal removal, which I can imagine maybe in the 1960's. If so, they'd all be having knee replacements within 20 years and enjoying a massive class action payout. But then it is the U,S of A!

Not sure if posted but

Is this even his real twitter account lol, saw Kane Cornes retweet

E: Apparently his previous knee injury is making it tough to assess the damage and seriousness.

Yep that's about when it was... in the early '70's.

IIRC the premise was that lateral movement was not important for NFL whereas the risk of a tear during a game was considered a greater evil.

Thanks..

Gutted for Jake, was just finding some great form too. Hopefully it isn't a full ACL tear.

As for his replacement, Frost is probably the most likely given his similar role and AFL experience. But we'll have to see how the 3 talls, Frost, Keilty and Petty, play tomorrow to see who is really putting their hand up.

Optimistically, if Keilty has a big game tomorrow, it would be a dream come true to see him debut in a big game like the Queen's birthday, to see if he has what it takes to play at Senior level. Over the last 4 weeks I would say Keilty is probably the most in-form in the VFL of the defenders, but it's a pretty close run.

I am about 80% sure Frost will get the gig, but damn It'd be great to see Dec get a run at it.

I agree Dkn167. Hopefully not a full tear.

I also think Keilty could be handy as the intercept, but overlooking Frost may not go down well in team harmony.

It will be an interesting next week to see which way things go.

Maybe lever will be reborn?    Could Harrison possibly get a gig?

I agree. I'm only assuming they were pretty bloody confident when BT announced it.

He may have been told Not Confirmed as a full rupture and just heard it wrong. I'm going to wait for the club to put out a statement.

You may be clutching Mr Steve. Hoped I misheard but don't think so.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
