Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I won't be content til I see us atop the premiership ladder so 4 flags minimum.

I'm guessing that watching the team winning flags might be a bit like loosing ones virginity, the first time is special, but then you want more.  I'I' still waiting to pop my MFC flag cherry.

It wouldn’t be beyond us to have a flat one. But I don’t think we will.

This seems a different mindset to last season. We’re playing FOR each other. There’s a confidence. There’s a ruthlessness. There’s a flint hardness. Last year we lost to bottom four sides, this year we’re smashing them. I’m interested in seeing how our ball movement matches up to a more defensive group. We’ve looked very fast moving it, without having any overt leg speed. Least bounces in the comp this year. Want to see how we move it against better teams.

I spoke with a senior player after the Hawks loss: they were trying to use the corridor more. At that stage we were 18th for corridor use. Now, we own it. He said it was a confidence-thing. Now you see players turning inside before going down the line. It’s good to see, but take some elite kicking.

Let’s Hope Salem doesn’t pull the trigger as eagerly as he did last Saturday, 3 on 1 was a tad ambitious.

Remarkable selection from Doggies' supporters. Sounds similar to our past sentiments despite enormous Club loyalty and hope. This still remains as a danger game but that is looking more and more less likely.

I've got to agree with Whispering. I don't mind peeking over the fence after a win but I have a bad feeling about premature congratulations.

Well, I of course won't say no to that.

Even though I want born yet I'm still filthy we didn't win 6 in a row in the 50s.

I sat in the rain by the race spewing over the fact that we allowed brute force to put us off and we lost our cool to lose to the filth. Should have been 6 on the trot as you say. Maybe this new team we are building will take us on that journey. God I hope so. Years of abuse from other club supporting friends just waiting for a BIG payback from me.

I’ve jumped over a couple of fences, had a look at the Pies board and hardly any mention of their game against Freo on there. They are more worried if they can get Howe back in time for the game they label as “ Melbourne’s Grand Final”.

This is interesting. I saw the opposite on the weekend. I thought in the first month the team was just frantically playing on at all cost  in the corridor and over handballing even when there weren't options in the clear resulting in the opposition getting the ball.

In the last month they have progressively minimised handballs in the contest by getting the ball out in the open and switching outside the corridor and running the ball down the wings in space and then having the time to do proper delivery inside 50.  They are only using the corridor where they have options in space in there.

I'm guessing our turnovers resulting in scores for the opposition has significantly dropped off in the past month.

No you won't Andy, I promise!  Once you've savoured the first, the appetite continues to grow.  I've been lucky enough to see 7 of our 12, and I can't wait to celebrate number 13 (which for the first time I'll be permitted to celebrate with something a bit stronger than lemonade!).

Saw this suggested banner on the doggies board, real rib tickler I thought

”Will Bulldogs bite, will Bulldogs roar

Will Bulldogs have a crack?

Or will they want their tummy scratched

and roll over on their back”

Was a frantic game style they played.
Played finals a year or 2 before winning it.
Now that they got the dream I don't think they have the drive or confidence to run as hard as they were then.

Also think there was a real blend of experience and youth in that particular team. With Matthew Boyd retiring and Morris having numerous injury issues nearing the end and a couple of other important departures (Hamling, Stringer) , they largely have the youth, but nowhere near the experience of the 2016 list.

They seem to have fallen pretty hard and their list moves since 2016 haven't worked tremendously well. Cloke was a swing and miss and I'm not sure Tom Boyd and Schache will work well in the same team. There's still a long way to go before we can judge whether either will even make it, and both cost valuable assets to acquire (although Boyd has his place in Bulldog lore secure regardless).

Wonder just how much the Jason McCartney/Dalrymple schism hurt the Dogs list management post premiership.

It’s not too much to ask to see Barrett’s “ Sliding Doors” comment come to fruition is it?

Melbourne

If

you've kicked 69 goals in your past three matches ...

then

we've got you down for 30 at Etihad Stadium on Saturday. Bulldogs kicked two goals total in round nine, and none after half-time last week.

I have stuck with this club for the past decade with a heap of terrible memories. I'm going to gladly accept this run of good form and enjoy it as much as I can.

I am fully aware that it can end at anytime.

If other supporters want to get ahead of themselves then good for them. Enjoy it.

Agreed.  I think the old adage of one game at a time applies as much to supporters as our team.  As much as I've enjoyed and been encouraged by our year to date (the past 5 weeks in particular), the MFC hasn't really achieved anything in football terms yet, not even making finals.  It's nice that we are starting to be viewed as a team team be feared, but I agree that we don't really want to be skiting as a supporter before and even after beating opposition teams at this point.  After an absence of real sucess for so long, it's hard to contain one's self and I feel I've possibly even crossed the line in rubbing it into Carlton for being the new worst team this century.

This one is ours to lose.

Dogs in terrible form v Dees in a purple patch.

They arent scoring v we are breaking records.

Their confidence is low v ours sky high.

On top of all that, its Chunks huge milestone game.

Shorter break for us might take a few goals off the margin, but im still tipping us by 40 points or so.

Be nice to win every qtr again and take the record off the Cats, wouldnt it :)

Go Dees.

Doesn't match my recollection.  The dogs built over a reasonable period and I think many now reconise much of the credit for that development was due to McCarthy - pretty good record of developing high performing, sucessful teams old Macca - let's hope his good record through association continues.

Exactly.

I’m fully anticipating a flogging. On form, it should absolutely be a flogging. If it’s any less than a flogging, I’ll be disappointed. If I’m disappointed, I won’t jump on Demonland and rant and rave and make silly motherhood statements and demand a response from the club, because I understand my own expectations are my own problem to manage. I’ll just adjust my expectations accordingly.

If the result does go how I expect, though, I will experience a level of contentment that others who have tempered their own expectations won’t get, knowing that everything is actually as good as it seems. When you hold your expectations low, you create doubt in yourself when things actually are working.

People see the world through their own lense. If people choose cautious optimism, good for them. I was at cautious optimism when Clint Bizkit was looking for a purchase in the hope market. I’m way past that now.

I don't think we can congratulate ourselves too much on our build to sustained success, when we have yet to achieving anything at all...

Looks like the bulldogs used some great recruiting and development to rebuild their 2008-09 'almost' teams .

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
