Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

When was the last time Pedo last played a good game in defence at AFL level?

(In fact, when was the last time he played good footy in defence in the VFL?)

Same with T mac tho. Has not trained with backs. T mac has been our path to goal and you reckon we get him out of there ? I really can't believe what I am reading.reading . you have a look at how much our scores have increased since McDonald came back...pulling him back would be ludicrous. Pedo smith frost.take your pick...one of them replaces lever . HOSKEN ELLIOT is their goal kicker. So let's find him a match up

A very open final quarter and we could only manage behind after behind. Willy took it coast to coast once late and scored a soft cheap goal so they'd be disappointed we didn't put the foot to the throat in that last qtr.

Without seeing official stats or bests mine would be Pedo, Jkh and stretch.

Of the potential lever replacements they all started slowly but by the end Kielty probably just shaded Frost for his superior workrate in the second half. Not sure either did enough to be honest but there's a slot there if they are deserving of it or not. Until he was concussed late Pedo was easily the most influential man on the ground and they may have even considered bringing him in as a defender, but his head hit the ground hard so he'd have to be in some doubt now. Petty copped the wrath of the coach several times from the box during the game , I don't think they were at all happy with his game and general positioning today.

Tyson was industrious but not dominant for mine. Garletts score line flattered him he was very poor again today. Hunt had a bit of it but wasn't influential. Baker was busy but frustrating in that every second good thing he tried to do ended up in a direct turnover, still has to work on his decision making.

Weideman after a slow start really was quite busy in the second half. Not enough to get promoted but a promising return. If the young rucks I thought Flip worked very hard today to get involved and ran to a lot of good spots, one of his better efforts. Meese tried to niggle him constantly all day physically but he handled it ok. He shaded King today.

Bugg was woeful, more interested in niggle, wasted chip kicks going forward, you'd expect a lot more from him. Smith was ok but just doesn't get involved and use his strengths of leap and agility enough. Johnstone was a bit better in defence than I've seen him as a forward has very precise kicking skills but still like some margin away from making it.

Normally reliable Casey small forward Angus Scott was also very poor today

The clouds rolled in as did a bit more of a breeze by the end, more like the weather you'd expect at Willy. Good to get a decent sized win but I'm assuming the coaching staff wanted more from this result

Edit: I forgot Josh Wagner, thought he was very good off a half back flank today steady and compact with his disposal

I guess it seems between Frost and Keilty to replace Lever ..... great (unfortunately) opportunity to prove themselves.

From listening I had also felt that Ped would replace Smith (if not available) but Weideman sounds as if he played his role in the second half and may get the nod.

Just to tell the story of how much of a dog game williamstown played, Jade Rawlings and the coaching staff said there were 14 off the ball striking incidents, 13 of them initiated by Williamstown

It was a very physical game and Casey boys handled it well.

I liked smith and Wagner in defense.

Jay played best game in long time.

Pedo was best forward.

Smith to be Lever's replacement then?

Well done Dees another good win

I'd say Wagner is the closest like for like with Lever, plus Goody and the coaching love him.  To be honest, I can understand why Wagner gets picked, he is athletic, tough and takes the game on by foot.  A good fit with our game style.

You can't understand why they've given up on a bloke who consistently butchers the ball and has poor awareness that often results in him being caught with the ball and turning it over?

I reckon based on what this game sounds like, we should bring in Pedo as a McDonald replacement and send T Mac to the backline.

TMac to the backline???????????  NO WAY KNOWN!

We have a powerful two pronged mobile talls in Hogan and T Mac and you wanna send T Mac back

Chook, as much as I respect your opinions, I would have more chance landing Jane Seymour on my lap than T MAC Being returned to the backline!

It'll still be the same process re: TMAC - as part of a talented forward set up and seemingly the team ethos - the team the kicks the biggest score wins... he won't be put back, those days are done.

It seems Stretch has been BOG or close 3 times now and surely has to be rewarded.

He's very vanilla with no elite AFL attributes.

Who would you drop for him ?

Replaces Melksham if he doesn't come up?

Was just about to say. That scything kick inside fifty that we couldn't find earlier in the season will be missed in Melks doesn't get up. I'm not sure too many of the VFL guys can be called genuine or even part time half-forwards... but Stretch might be deserving of a go. Maybe off half back, move Salem up as that last kick inside.

Not a close enough like match IMO. The forward structure is going well, I’m not interested in disrupting it by introducing a player who has never played there. Garlett or Balic are next in line for that role.

My recollection is that Stretch has played most of his AFL footy at half forward.

Then you’ve interrupted the stability of two positions - three in total with Lever.

I want us to keep winning games by lots of points. The more we fiddle with the structure of the team, the less likely that is to happen.

Jeez Chook. This one made you popular... lol

For what it's worth I'm with you, sort of. TMac's best place for the team is as a target. But boy it's good to have him as a backup plan in case his brother has a mare. Also, he played time on the wing, so we can see Goody isn't married to him as a pure forward.

I'd say if he played a second half in defence, it would be because we're getting slaughtered... But still. I feel better knowing the option is there. And as much as I like some of what our backup KPD do, TMac is the longest tenured and the most trusted. Just have to hope that foot is ok.

On the basis of my understanding of his form over the past 3 or so weeks, I would think Bugg would be the other that would be well in contention.

Firstly, great that Casey ground out another win, and best wishes in recovery to the soldier that is cam pederson.

On the topic of tommy to the backline, I had considered it at first but as it seems it needs to be a permanent solution (lever out for season) then id rather he float back and chop out when the game suits it. He covers the ground well enough and it finally feels we are a footy side with game feel to know when things need to be done.

Id be content going with a smaller type (hunt Wagner smith) v the pies as I think omac covering cox is ample key defenders. Pies have more injury concerns than us, but it will be interesting to see how our depth holds up

I haven't interrupted that stability. Injury has. Noone's CHOOSING to drop Melks. This is all a hypothetical, in case he doesn't get up for the game.

Played there, sure. Played his best playing a kick behind. I dunno if I like Stretch as a target in the same way I do Melks. Come to think of it, if they think Balic can get through 4 quarters, he might be a good choice. It could well be just a one week thing... If Melks misses, then he gets two weeks break.

Hmm. Balic. Interesting. Spargo had only played a couple of good games before he got his go and he hasn't looked back.

I love me some Bugg... But I get cold sweats when I think about his disposal vs Melksham. The role Melks plays... gee it's important.

Don't get me wrong though, I love Buggs work. Good call.

No, injuries have interrupted two (Melk, Lever). You made it a third by moving Salem to the other end of the ground (to accomodate Stretch). I think most would agree though that this is all a non-issue if Melksham is good, which I expect him to be with the longer break.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
