Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

No change.

I know it's a 6 day turn around, but we have a 9 day break after this game leading into the Queen's Birthday clash.  We've won by 200 points over the last fortnight, no need to make changes unless we absolutely have to.

l thought they were training runs. Now that they have extended Charlie's contract they might rest him. I hope not.

TRAINING

Jack Viney and Mitch Hannan started the training away from the main group. Doing run throughs and 3/4 speed 50 meter  sprints. I thought they were going to keep to light duties but after about 15 minutes both joined the main group. The AFL group all had a light training and did not do game simulations .

Those in the VFL did some 8 on 8 game simulations. Sam Wiedeman and Cam Pederson taking many marks. Sam Frost giving run from the back. Oscar Baker linking well through the middle. Harley Balic offering composure and ball skills. Jay Kennedy-Harris getting to contest and putting lots of pressurs on everything. Tom Bugg showing leadership to the younger ones.

There wasn't a rehab group today. Let's hope Dean Kent hasn't gone backwards in his recovery.

AFL group did lots of goal kicking. Mainly snaps around the coaching staff who are encouraging lateral movements.

The whole group focused on ball skills. Plenty of kicking to advantage, high marking and lead up to mark. Drills to protect the ball and shield the opposition from the contest were also included. Coaching staff working hard to make sure the players react quickly when there is a turnover and restructure to defensive or attacking game plans. Plenty of work to encourage the spread.

The players were again very positive, lots of enjoyment and a good amount of noise and support for each other.

The session finished with all staff members, players, coachs, fans and some school kids attending a ceremony celebrating the indigenous round. The field was marked with the Aboriginal and a Torres Strait flag. A speaker talked for 15 minutes about his story, family and the traits that he found positive in his life. Then the didgeridoo and sticks were played. All present very respectful and reflective.

McKenna training?

Gee Kent, Vanders and McKenna must be on borrowed time.

How much longer do you persevere with players who have lost so much training and match time? Particularly when you could free up space on your list, but presumably the moment of truth will arrive at season end.

Kent has been in and out, but never seems to be able to string more than a few games without injury, and the others are almost forgotten men.

Anything up to half a dozen similar players - Harmes, ANB, Hunt, Balic, Maynard, Hannan, Baker, Bugg, Wagner, ...

I think vanders, McKenna up for delisting, not Kent maybe Kent for trade, unlike the other Kent can be a match winner.

Despite smashing "pub"sides we do need to give the fringe players a go. Perhaps Spargo gets a rest fo Garlett.Regards the pink slip years end,JKH and Dion should go in preference to Vanders.

From memory Jetta first came in as a forward as well, like a lot of defenders actually, so DJ couldn't have a better teacher. I doubt he'll get a game until Jetta's not there though

Dogs fans won't bother and we'll get more MFC fans than usual, but we still don't 'travel' to Etihad.

As I say.... "sneaky" good. Usually I'd agree with you, never huge crowds... and in a down year (or decade) lucky to make 20. I'm picking a surprise here, and 33,000 if the weather's good.

edit: Got 33,667 last year for the same game. So it seems I'm a year late.

That'll happen more often than people think, I reckon. Lots of teams lower than us on the ladder.

If they play him back, it might help with confidence and development.

Who knows from there,  where he could end up.    May flourish, may drop away.

Ball is in his court.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you his observations from this morning's Captain's Run including some hints at the changes for our ANZAC Eve clash against the Tigers. Sunny, though a touch windy, this morning, 23 of them no emergencies.  Forwards out first. Harrison Petty, JvR, Jack Billings, Kade Chandler, Kozzy, Bayley Fritsch, and coach Stafford.  The backs join them, Steven May, Jake Lever, Woey, Judd McVee, Blake Howes, Tom McDonald

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
