Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Hasn't had the chance to prove himself at senior level after getting a punctured lung in his debut last year. Thought this was his best. He rarely gets beaten in the air bringing the ball to ground and loves the contested ball.

Apparently been doing it for quite a while down at Casey so forced Dees to pick him up. Nice stuff. Our tall forward depth is pretty great at the moment.

Always thought Tim smiths biggest asset was his hands n goal kicking. When that clicks, look out.

You can’t go back and criticise posters who were emotional after a loss. Go away now, you don’t add anything anymore.

Really? Oh yes you can. As football followers you must follow the long game. It's always best to take a moment to breathe, think and compose yourself instead of lashing out. The wrist slashing on this website after a loss is often pathetic. I wear disappointment as heavily as anyone but nothing is gained by some of the headless chook behaviour seen here.

Posters write things in the heat of the moment after a disappointing loss, no need to go back weeks and use that against them, especially after (another) fantastic win.

Just enjoy it.

Something the TV commentary came out with.  The last time the MFC won five games on the trot was two weeks before Nathan Jones played his first game.  Think about that.  He has stuck with the MFC for all this time and this is the first time he's seen this sort of success.  They had better do it again next week for his 250th.

I caught the last quarter and it looked like all out there were basically shagged out. The game was pretty much in the bank but it was a great thing that we really put the boot on the throat.

Ball movement has clearly been a strength  since the Richmond game. The ability to pick the right option to shove through the midfield and then slow the pace entering the forward fifty to pick the right option stood out.

One thing that might be of concern is that we might need a harder hit out soon. It's all well to be in good form but we want to peak later in the year.

Clearly winning and winning well is better than the alternative but I have seen teams who bulldozed their way into September but run out of petrol tickets before they got to the game of most consequence.

I also think we need to remember what it's like to be challenged for that WILL come in September.

However, great win and I look forward to watching the first 3 quarters when I get home later.

True, Mono!  But, keep playing like they did today, and a Flag is a forgone...!!  I still can't get over that game!  The way they played was simply awesome!

Hard to believe, but the little red head on his dads shoulders provided the highlight of the day. Was playing Auskick, had a lot of family and friends around me, kicked a goal and did the best goal celebration I have seen. Had me and others around laughing even more than we laughed at the crows

It was particularly enjoyable to have one of the modern day genius’ of our game in Brian Taylor commentating today.

His astute observation in the second quarter of the courage Lever showed in leaving his man, to approach a marking contest and make a spoil, when Lever wasn’t within cooee of anyone was especially remarkable.

Ten seconds later he tells us he “reckons” Max Gawn has been knocked out.

This bloke is an hysterical peanut. I like a bit of charisma but Jesus Christ it’s like watching re-runs of the Benny Hill show when Taylor’s commentating!

Yep, loose man in defence and taylor was praising his courage in taking the risk and coming off his man. His invisible man.

Fair call, Tyson has struggled for form this year sadly.

He has but I think he is one who is struggling to find his right position.

His strengths are inside the contest but we have Oliver as the number one in that role with good support from Jones.  Add Viney and Tyson drops to 4th string inside mid. As a result they are asking him to play the 3rd mid role who needs to be more outside, spreading and using the ball.  That isn't his strength and he isnt a natural wingman so he is not playing to his strengths.

Brayshaw is playing that role beautifully right now and we have a number of flankers/ wings rotating.

Tysons numbers are slightly down on the last two seasons but he is kicking more than previous years and his contested possession numbers are a bit lower, which could indicate he is outside the contest more than previous seasons.

I think there is still a place for him on the list and with a couple of injuries, in the 22. Any of the inside mids go down and he is in. And he is probably next off the outside mid rank as well. If flankers go down we either bring Hunt/Kent/Garlett in or leave Salem et al on the flanks longer (less midfield minutes) and bring Tyson in.

So he is next in line, and a very high quality 23rd player on your list, so I wish we'd treat him as such.

Beetle, he'll be straight back up to Vic Park telling Eddie and getting flabbergasted at the same time, about "have we got twenty two Phil Carmens and five Phi Manassas"........

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
