Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

That is one of the most ridiculous posts I have seen in this site, and there has been some competition

Why? I'm not the only one who wants him to do well but gets frustrated time and time again by his perverted disposal. An ex AFL player said to me last week that Melbourne need to get rid of Tyson. He's a turnover machine, the guy said.

Haven’t read all the posts but not sure that it is player hate rather than form hate.

I doubt if any of us want him to fail or hate him; indeed if he finds his best and his disposal improves we will all be happy.

Interesting reaction by JKH to a wayward pass from Garlett. Ball was slightly above JKH’s reach, so he just stopped on the spot, put his arms down and gave Garlett a look of ‘WTF?’

Sounds like a classic Richo dummy spit.

Cant see him staying on the list as he doesn’t have any special tricks which a small player in particular needs.  (And as one can see from my faves list he has been one of mine)

Wow 33 scoring shots to 23 and we win.

Good sides wine those contests. How often have Melbourne had a lot more scoring shots - even one of the opening games against  Geelong last year - and still been beaten over the last few years?

There are thousands of ex AFL players and I would put little faith on what 99.9% of them say

was a direct reference to Dieter's halleluia.  Just seems a bit mean to one of our players.  Having said that Dieter claims he means nothing by it.

Good coverage, all you guys at the ground.

Many of us unable to get to the VFL games get very good service. Thanks.

Great to hear many players are stepping forward. They put pressure on those in the senior side. How long has it been since we can say that.

Very pleased that Declan K bounced back hard from last week's head knocks.

Now we all wait to see what tomorrow will bring.

Oskar Baker showed  something today. I hadn’t liked him much previously. Had a standout 3rd quater demonstrating pace skill and vision. Not sure who the midfield coach is but he said Baker was “fxxxkn super” at the huddle.

Petty will be a player has the lot.

Tyson and Garlett wont be showing the replay to the coaches for a call up.

Brendan McCartney and his crew are going to have a field day developing the likes of J Smith, Keilty, Baker, Petty and the like.

The depth of  Melbourne FC will soon be unrivaled.      The lid is OFF.

You have not suffered as many daggers to the heart by Melbourne players - obviously -  as I have. I started barracking for them while watching them lose the 1958 Grand Final - I was always an underdog man - and since 1964, the almost good to very good periods under Northey and Daniher - there was also a pretty good year under Skilton in 1976 when a point kicked by Robert Walls instead of a goal - would have given us a finals berth at a time the Demons were smashing a few sides.

LIke I keep repeating, I have great sympathy for Tyson, I always wish him well, but he's kicked a pass to the opposition way too often for me.

I am glad he played well today, glad for all involved...Though, having said that, I note guys like Wrecker downgrading his performance today.

Also, I think judging players simply by the number of possessions can be misleading. I'm not typing rocket science here, it's just bloody obvious.

I also felt a little dismayed  when Brian Taylor kept praising Tyson's disposal during the last game Tyson played in the seniors.

And, in good form ot not, players like Tyson, Pederson, Hunt, Garrlet, Stretch, Bugg, Weid and probably a few more I'm forgetting would be walk up starts at probably 60% - 70% of the teams in the AFL.  It's a nice luxury to have to be letting these guys develop in the VFL ready for a call up once they hit their straps again or we get an injury we need to cover.

As you suggest it's a good indication of where we are at as a team at present.

I suppose the term "winning ugly" could be used but it was not that ugly. A great across the team effort. Last quarter was probably Casey's best whereas the game could easily have been finished by Port in the first quarter. 1 goal 8 that could so easily have been 7goals 2 or the like.

Garlett... okay and better towards the back half of the game... did he do enough... maybe ... would be interested in his tackle count.(As an aside he does have positioning sense. Stood deep in the forward pocet when the ball was being kicked from the 70 metre mark on the other pocket. Pack fly about twenty metres out from the goal mouth.. Garlett's opponent moves towards the pack... he stays still quick skewed kick out of the pack.. Garlett marks ... handball over the top and Balic strolls in for an easy goal. Right spot.. right time.. guess that is what makes Jeffy special.)

Bugg... as a forward maybe shaded Garlett. Good mark and goal to get Casey within a few points when Port were on top in the third quarter.

Kept a close eye on Balic and Baker.

Balic.... building ... decent game and could be a prospect. Not as good as his opening game against Coburg.

Baker... very good .. needs to back himself a little more. Quick to give off by hand or the short kick not necessarily to a team mate in a better position. Had a relatively easy shot for goal in the pressure part of the final quarter and missed badly. Keep improving and perhaps next year.

Saw glimpses of Petty.. developing nicely perhaps a shade behind Baker.

Kielty had a strong game.

Port were excellent opposition and while unaligned are a strong unit.

Very nice Burra burger and the local supporters are more one eyed than the Dolphin fans of last week... (think many of them like a drink.)

So you were at the game watching it live, or going on someone else's judgement, which like yours could be clouded by preconceived ideas and influences?

Really enjoyed the game. Port were surprisingly strong even though no AFL players, they should have been well in front at end of 1st qtr.

Kielty was BOG for me, wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a game some time this season. Baker looks a likely type, maybe won’t get a go this year, but has good speed and reasonable disposal skills. Tyson improved as the game went on and was a key driver in the win. Got caught holding the ball a couple of times and disposal a bit sloppy, but still looked a level above.

Shout out to the Port nuffies. The abuse they hurled at the umps was pretty ordinary. Suspect the umps could hear the ‘feedback’, fair dinkum, who’d want to be an umpire.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
