Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Grand Final Seating Guarantee

So I'm thinking of forking out $229 (early bird still on offer) to ensure a seat if we do in fact make it to the big dance. Last year I waited until the North game in Tassie when we capitulated to make a call. This year, I think there'll be enough of a body of evidence come the bye to gauge from - maybe even wait for the Port game although I'm not sure of the cut-off date.

I think the guarantee has doubled in price this year which is unfortunate but completely logical as the teams performance continues to improve.

For those like me that don't have a top tier package with a GF seat included, are you thinking the same/similar approach? It's either this option or shell out ~$1300 come September if there's any seats available.

Cheers

I've never purchased my reserved seat because of the guaranteed Grand Final ticket. I buy it for the reserved seat. I've only got to use the guaranteed GF ticket once in 21 years. Not a great return on investment.

Settle...

It wasn’t you who was behind the early crow and sent out “How to buy finals tickets” last year Mcqueen ? Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. If we’re sitting 11-4 at round 15 with a few wins against quality maybe then

So that’s the catch 22 though isn’t it. It’s essentially a queuing system that when the teams thereabouts you need to pay for the opportunity before others do.

Each club only has so many tickets allocated - you better get in before those evil corporate customers, they will pay the price in an instant.

But wait a second those “evil” corporates pay year in year out irrespective of what teams are in the grand final. You could make more money on your corporates than your whole membership put together- shame on you AFL clubs ?

Just a quick update for those like me who are in a position of being a member, but not guaranteed a seat at the big dance due to member package (should we make it) nah..... (fuggit, when we make it) and will need to upgrade your membership package.

The club has told me that we basically have until rd 23 against the Giants to upgrade and be assured a GF seat. The price on top of my Interstate membership is only another $230 which seems pretty fair let alone the airfare and accommodation expense us die-hard interstate radicals have to bear to grace you with our presence.

Anyway, if we win this weekend... Giddy-up

or

it's make a donation.

Or you could be an Adult member of the AFL. There are so few of us, when tickets are allotted to the respective GF teams you're just about assured of getting one , just got to queue up for one (and fork over the $)

So how does that work in conjunction with a club membership or is it a separate cost entirely?

AFL club support means you are a member of the AFL organisation (which still counts towards your club's membership tally, they also get a portion of the $), whereas club membership is directly through the club.

I figure it would be a separate cost entirely, as my AFL membership only gets me into the AFL members section, whilst my Demon Seats membership (much better sitting amongst your own) is directly through the club.

AFL membership works similar to club membership i figure, as there is an extra cost to attend finals games. If the club is given 30,000 tickets to sell to its eligible members then some may miss out. But when tickets in the AFL members section go on sale, an adult AFL member with club support of the 2 competing teams gets first access to tickets.

Melbourne has relatively few AFL members, moreso MFC members (or MCC members), so should we ever get back to the big dance, my odds of getting a ticket should be better than if i were to go in to the MFC members draw.

They give the club the equivalent of an 11 game adult membership price, so it's a pretty stingy payout. Would rather put all my money directly a farcical organisation I care about than one who are busy stuffing everything up.

I guess also much better than the desperate last resort option of meeting some shady character (4  persons removed) in some back laneway in Richmond one hour before the game and parting with a few hundred hard earned.

I’m just a regular MFC member, a ticket in 2000 was relatively straightforward IIRC, but not sure how much harder it would be nowdays with the extra Gill corporate packages to compete with?  , how many tickets do clubs tend to get allocated for members ? and then may also depend on how many of MFC members are also MCC (pretty high compared to others) . I doubt we’d have many taking up the GF reserve package just yet , at least compared to other clubs , but I guess don’t premium memberships have GF ticket guarantees already included ?

anyways all very hypothetical still ... need to slap myself for even thinking about GFs yet . I haven’t attended any afl final since the 2002 semi - so my only wish is to go along to the G and watch the dees at least once in September !!!!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
