Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Did you mean to quote me? This as a reply makes no sense.

Look I get it, you feel a bit silly for not getting the Garrett/Garlett spelling error and instead you acted faux-offended. All good.

listen 'mate', i don't feel silly. it's funny that no one thought to ask what was offensive about the initial comment.. the choice of song and subject matter, especially considering that it is indigenous round, is really bloody careless to me.

i tagged you because you suggested that the other fella had 'looked way too much into it', implying that he was overreacting and being offended on someone else's behalf for no real reason. look i get it, you guys just dig midnight oil's music for the way that you can 'get jiggy with it', not the subject matter.. thought that the overall community on this site would find it clear to see that this is problematic in our country. anyway, whatever, nevermind..

What the [censored] is going on with this thread? One 100+ pt win and everybody's gone bonkers. I'm offended.

Midnight Oil were bloody amazing at Paradiso last year and Nathan Jones seems more nimble than ever.

No nukes.

Your right haha... It was Jetta I was thinking of back when he wasn’t any good in 2010 & 2012 he got picked for the Darwin games randomly

Are you one of those dudes who walk around in a dress?

Asking cos you talk like a lefty femmo, you know, with your made-up hate labels and all.

Lol. The irony. The constant of people not liking being told they're offending someone so they revert to complaining about labels by labelling others and not having the mental capacity to realise they're doing the same thing.

I thought we were supposed to be educated as Melbourne supporters. ?

Indeed.

The other irony is demonlanders deriding the intelligence of the supporters of other teams, like those of the 'filth' when dl provides ample evidence the dees have their fair share of supporters with cognitive challenges.

We are running at a level way above the Crows right now.  Anything is possible at AFL level but If we hold our form this should be a very solid win and if the tea leaves are correct there is a good chance of a pretty big blow out in the offing.

Go Demons!

And this is our next big challenge. Holding our form. It's not so much about winning (admittedly, that's a nice outcome), but consistently playing the football we are capable of. We need to show that we no longer have those runs of goals against us or quarters where we seem to switch off. Then we'll be taken as a serious contender. And if we do that this week, we should win. But will we?

Fair enough. If it was the piece of play I’m thinking of, Nev just looked buggered from running hard.

He definitely had a leg trauma, the kind a player gets with a medium-thigh corky. If so, he may well be right for the game against the Crows - he is a fit bloke. The 'limp' was compounded by the amount of running (buggered) at that time as he moved to the interchange area for some much-needed rest.

Big angst over here in Adelaide about the upcoming match against the Dees. Even the newspaper (the 'Advertiser') hints strongly this morning of '...several...' Crows players being keen on belting up Jake Lever. Apparently, the word is around that Gawn is going to be dealt with around the legs, knees and ankles as early as possible in the game. The Crows supporters are panicking about Walker not being available for 4-6 weeks, Sloane being in the longer-term 'rested/recovery period, and their alleged two jets returning to the side this weekend not '...being ready...' to return/still injured. Hey, my heart bleeds. Let's play Pedo as an expendable utility to sort out a few possible transgressors who will wilt on the vine before him.

I think this is the best possible outcome for us. Gawn can hold his own, we’ll concentrate on the footy and leave them with their 1980’s style sniping.

I feel like the Lever stuff is getting a bit out of control and i know its the preferred narrative from the media, but i can t help thinking the Crows especially are getting sucked into this more than Melbourne. i like how Lever has spoken and embraced it, but from now on... let them talk and let us play.

Also i hope we show Lever the support he will need, i hope out players back him up and fly the flag (without being stupid) i nominate Jack Viney first in to help him.

Not fair. Gibbs might be getting paid nicely at Adelaide, but he also went there because Carlton are a rabble and he's surely after success in the twilight of his career.

The only similarities between Lever and Gibbs, is that both wanted to come home to family.

Lever chose family and money, but not at the expense of success. He is 21, and he has as much of a chance of winning a flag at Melbourne as he did at Adelaide.

And Tex Walker is a [censored].

And IF we take Sloane at the end of this year, We weaken the Crows, and we get stronger, closing the gap between us, even further.

The Crows are the real deal, even tho they tripped themselves up last September, out of malice.

We are/will be, competing with them in the next few years, for September glory.  Sloane is like a 2 for 1, to us.

And won't eat our salary cap for too many years...  Allowing us to develop other youngsters, while he plays top footy.

Every chance that Garlett, if not selected will be the traveling emergency.  I don't mind that outcome.

Just reading Misson's injury report, it seems they are thinking about a rest for Spargo in the next couple of weeks.

With this special indigenous game this week, I think Garlett will come in for Spargo this match.  I would then bring Spargo back in against the Bulldogs, playing the 2 smalls against the Doggies.

And then both in for the Q/Birthday game, as well. I think the Pies might struggle against the 2 quick smalls.

I think we go into the game hard rough-ling their feathers early, and them focus on play.

There are knowns and then there are unknowns.  Then there are known knowns and known unknowns.  The question is where does this fit among the known known unknown knowns?....

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
