Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If only Max has kicked straight in Round 1....   not only would we be 7-2 , but the Cats who are currently 8th would be 12th with a 4-5 record.

Damn it Maxy!   But you have made up for it since, big time.

The difference? 5 soft free kicks.

Why do the umpires (supported by the lip-flapper commentators) continue to award inappropriate free kicks to players like Cripps, Dangerfield, Ablett, .... and so the list goes on. How many times were the MFC players held when contesting, pushed in the back, screened when positioning? I gave up the count in the first quarter yet it continued all game.

And the Hawks are down on their game this weekend, as well, despite incredible coaching. Reckon the injuries at the Crows will be highly significant in our win next weekend - and it is time to play Garlett for that one.

Whatever it was, the Dees faithful behind the goals at the Ponsford were rightly giving it to him big time with those ridiculous antics every time they kicked a goal in the first quarter. We loved the “ let’s play ball “ attitude from our boys early on.

Our relentless inside 50’s are starting to pay off. It’s like a tidal surge. Kicking big numbers,  Marks inside 50 once a weakness are best in the comp even better than WC who have potent big forwards.

Carlton people I was sitting with said he is and had little time for him,  and that the Blues  seem to be trying to ' hide' him on the field at the minute. Good summary comment

Also great to see Hannan and  Fritter contribute

Tackles links and goal assists

We have a lot of Talent forward this year

These two are a little unsung but I love watching them

They will have very good seasons

For a player who only has one year of VFL under his belt he looks as though he belongs on an AFL field.

Together with Brayshaw they have added so much to the team.

The beatifully weighted kick to hit Big M on the chest in the 3rd, off the right foot through traffic ?

Interesting you say so ... he is adapting to this level really well. I'd like to see him given some protection, at times, otherwise he is likely to get hurt - but rebounds quickly, so far. His skills are elite.

There was something different about our Game Plan after half time but i cannot put my finger on it , anyone know what it was?

More deliberate kicking across shorter distances, to a man finding space - the team triangulated a little, providing two flankers for every lead - and that was tremendously difficult for Carlton's youth to keep pace with - and it provided double the options we had to receive fwd set-ups. The backline pressed on, drew Carlton fwds out and also found space about the ground; their opponents also had difficulty keeping pace, manning up and winning the ball.

Interesting you say that...

I noticed a lot of Carlton players trying to sledge, niggle and psych out ours early.

Seemed to be some type of tactic to get under our skins but we didn't want to play that game.

We're growing up.

When you're winning you always look a lot fitter, strange feeling??

There was a sense of group niggle wasn't there.  Unsure whether instructed or just a thing but they were just as inept with this as they were with the football !

Oh...JL ...IS..  an absolute dh.  Even some of those with me yesterday...(family..partners ) who are Blues were groaning !!!

Mind you..  there was a lot of groaning from them ?????

This posted on the Carlton bigfooty game day thread, at half time ... before the full horror of the experience dawned ...

"We're actually all over them. People will no doubt blame Jones for a lot of this but he's not the guy turning the ball over in areas that put him out of position. That's killing us. Melb are not impressive."

Carlton will never get back on track until they confront their demons and admit they tanked, the beacon of their tanking is Kruze.

They've also taken all the scraps that GWS were throwing out hoping that they would get back quickly, well that didn't work. We have four ex GWS players and none of them played on the weekend.

I remember once that their then President John Elliot said "Carlton don't rebuild", he got that right.

Great weekend for the Dees with both VFL and AFL.

Big margin, and the kicking for goal was very accurate, but looking back on it, Petracca badly missed his first, I think Spargo missed a couple of set shots and TMac missed that last one... that margin could have been huge.

Also in reference to people being disappointed that we are going to play in Alice and the Blues get a friday night game.... the twisted side of me says thats a great outcome. Put the spotlight VERY firmly on the blues, I can guarantee that they will not get many if any Friday night matches next year, should not have received the number that they have this year, we on the other hand just need to get on with the next game! Next years fixture will look after itself based on the teams performances this year!

A little over those in the media who are still trying to justify how we are playing by pointing to 'an incredibly soft run over the last four weeks' and that the club cannot be 'trusted' yet. You can only play who the schedule puts in front of you, and given the club last year was slammed for losing easy matches that they should have won, I don't know what else they want?

Anyway, really looking forward to the clash with Adelaide, and I think another 4 quarter effort should see us win, especially with how they have been hit hard with injuries.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
