Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Seems Carlton and their supporters are looking forward to this one because of Lewis and Hogan's strikes last year.  Reckon it will be hot early.

We played them again later in the year and beat them by 2 goals (ANB to Lewis with 30 seconds left who kicked a goal).

Both are outstanding players and will be stars of the competition for many years to come. I'm more than happy with Oliver, but I suspect Cripps might benefit from having some quality around him and from getting a full season in.

If the 2013 draft was re-ranked Cripps probably sits top 3 with Kelly & Bontempelli - a fair few clubs would be regretting not taking him with a top 10 pick.

Oliver is surely the best player from the 2015 draft by a fair margin - thanks Sydney for matching our bid for Mills.

Oliver...for obvious reasons. He's MELBOURNE

That other fellow plays for scum.( Goes ok though ...no silverware for him )

Let's see if he, Cripps, goes out onto the ground on Sunday, in a manner that was to be expected to be required from him, from Gerard Healy's team. after last year's skirmish.......supposedly.

By my reckoning it's 2-0 to Cripps with one wipeout, but that's somewhat expected given young Clayton was taking on a senior footballer. But now that Clayton is a mature young man, he should be able to hold his own at clearances and his superior speed and kicking means he should be more damaging overall. Both great players. Oliver closing in on superstardom.

2016 - MCG: Blues win, 18-year-old Clayton schooled by Cripps who gives Gibbs a birthday treat.

2017 -  MCG: Blues about to win with Cripps unstoppable before the elbow of Jordy intervenes.

Etihad - Evenly matched until Jayden intervenes to send Cripps on his way.

One is an absolute superstar of the competition already, and has a lot of elite footy ahead of him.  He will go down as a club best.

The other?  Well, he is the above too, but has a little bit extra.  What's that?  He wears red and blue, and he does things with the football that I've never seen any other red and blue player do.

Will be worth the price of entry this weekend just to see these two doing their thing. Feels a little like a heavyweight bout with Cripps holding the belt and the brash 20 year old seeking to take it off him.

Just wonder if Lewis can do it again?

A man of his experience and football know-how will be familiar with ground revisited.

It's still the same target (jaw), at the same location, elevation and physical topography, so I reckon we could set him a task for this weekend and he would not need a map and compass to triangulate such an impact, surely?

The other thing we should all take out of the stats is this:

Thank the football Gods we took Oliver and not Darcy Parish.

I believe this is when we perfected the drafting science. Whatever Melbourne would’ve done in the past, do the opposite.

Well Clarrie is an emerging super star.  I've had too much red to even contemplate Cripps, so Clarrie wins hands down from my pov.

No poll disappointing. Clarry is better by a long way this year. He will be AA while Cripps won't.

I feel like there have been a lot of highlight touted juniors who have struggled to live up to their pre-draft hype over the past decade.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
