Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

No - can’t say I do. Just feel every week AFL football has 9 winning teams - 9 losing teams. It was only like 8 games ago Bombers where playing finals football.

Maybe Neeldy is an “easy” target and best thing for him and his family is to move on - don’t look back and embrace a new future, stuff what many anonymous posters are saying on social media sites.

Easy for a Tigers supporter to say. Just saying. :P

Phew. Lucky that that wasn't his role or responsibility then.

If you think the coach doesnt have direct input into the type of player he wants the recruiting staff to chase, you are following the wrong sport.

I cant thank the Tigers enough for what they have taught me. Was not that long ago we were down the bottom together.

One club took positive affirmative actions, grew their memberships win, lose or draw, grew their crowds and the welfare & happiness of their players is everything - the other still blames past players, past coaches, past administrators etc etc

One has a positive culture the other is just learning what it takes to become a successful AFL football club in 2018.

No secret to winning AFL premierships - just hard work from all at your football club, stay true to the message and ignore the external "noise" - winners are grinners losers can please themselves.

You did well to learn all of that volunteering in a clubs membership department.

One club got a good CEO, board and the right people around them.

They believed in the path they set and were not put off by discontent from their fan base.

The other took a little while longer to learn the lesson.

Culture is set by those in charge, ours was toxic for a reason and it wasn't because of the fans or those on an internet forum.

Anyone else having PTSD flashbacks when seeing vision of Neeld?

For some reason, when thinking of that era and how I felt most of the time (and especially just before his sacking), this scene sums it up best:

Kind of numb to the chaos I observed on a weekly basis but not really knowing what a life without it would be like.

In all fairness, I hope he now can find a job that better suits his skill set. I have been in the situation that my skills didn't line up with the job I was meant to be doing. Now I have found a job that suits my interests and skill set, life is a lot better. I'm sure it will be for Mark as well.

Who delivered the CEO to your doorstep? Who approved every board member you have? Who gave you a "loan" to pay out certain contracts? Therefore effectively allowing you to pick up an experienced AFL coach & media performer in Paul Roos.

However more importantly - what part of the MFC community was excluded from the whole process? ie CEO selection & Board selection.

Culture is a mindset across your whole community.

That's funny, we were "we" not so long ago and now we're "you". Are you a Russian bot, or maybe just someone who doesn't barrack for the mighty Demons.

He worked in the membership department as a volunteer however wants us to believe he’s some sort of big wig within the AFL community.

Yep, sounds like the snotty nosed kid who wasn't allowed to come up and play with the other kids at the big ground on Brunton Avenue and had to stay on the cow paddock on the corner and not get run over by the "bottlos" carts, and he's held a grudge ever since.

Another example of commentary that gets sidetracked by personal sledging and bickering.

Diminishes the standard of the site and makes many turn away from the place.

I know, I can just ignore but gee its annoying. Seems so pointless.

It seems Richmond supporters are on every forum these days passing themselves off as experts on all things AFL, including how to run a club, and that we should bow down to their awesomeness. Must be their version of revenge for being laughed at for 30 years.

Is daveydee the same guy that somehow tried to blame the supporters for team losing?

Like the supporters (admittedly a small bunch) I was with in the Redlegs who faithfully turned up every week when the team won 2 games for the year in 2012 and copped 15 goal floggings most matches? What we were supposed to be happy when Mark Neeld took a list that could at least get a few big wins in '10-'11 and completely ran our team into ground?

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you his observations from this morning's Captain's Run including some hints at the changes for our ANZAC Eve clash against the Tigers. Sunny, though a touch windy, this morning, 23 of them no emergencies.  Forwards out first. Harrison Petty, JvR, Jack Billings, Kade Chandler, Kozzy, Bayley Fritsch, and coach Stafford.  The backs join them, Steven May, Jake Lever, Woey, Judd McVee, Blake Howes, Tom McDonald

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
