Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

i Just called up 2012 me and told him we were the number 1 contested ball team in the competition, and we laughed and laughed and laughed.

Wise blood he is useless. What did he do today. He had the lowest stats of 2 kicks, 4 handpasses and 2 tap outs. Any other 6 foot+ on the list could have got more than that. Hogan and Tmac don't need him. They need someone who contributes.

He didn't have a lot of stats but at half time he had run 7.5km the second most on the ground behind Hogan who also hadn't done much at that point.

When players are running and spreading its a good thing. It creates space. And even if they don't get the ball they take a player with them.

You don't know what Weid's instructions are. Its possible he is being told to roam up hte ground and take a key player out with him. The fact he keeps getting picked suggests they like the flexibility he offers. And as a backup ruckman he does a pretty good job.

The Weid got 6 hit outs not 2 that's not bad for a second ruck.

Nice to finally get a 10+ goal win. The percentage boost is important.

With the enormous inside 50 discrepancy though, we should have won by more. That’s not to detract from the positives but +40 inside 50s should result in more than +69 points.

Need to keep focused and take the same approach to Carlton and the G. We haven’t been +3 in the W-L ledger since 2011. A win next week puts us at 6-3.

Pedo can't ruck, but he is better around the ground.

This is only true if Pedo works well with Hogan and TMac.

I'm starting to wonder if Weid is playing the decoy 3rd tall role better than Pedo would, staying out of the way of the others, dragging defenders out of the way and openimg up space.

Either that (or possibly as well as that) it seems the players don't trust him just yet.  He isn't often used even when leading, with the preference being tho kick to others. Perhaps the coaches are with his work rate and patterns and are giving time for the rest of the team to get used to kicking to where he'll be.

The Weed is a confidence player. Simple.

I saw two pieces of play early on where many other players would have had a ping tonight. Weed, be it through being team first or more likely having no trust in himself, went for the handball when he could have had a shot. From that point, he went further into his shell.

I'm not sure what it will take for him to get a strut in his step. All I know is that he isn't a spud.

Im pretty sure same thing has happened last 2 week as well, has an opportunity in F50 but instead of having a snap handballs it off to a player in a worse position. They're not gimme goals but they're worth having a crack at for an AFL forward. Hopefully once he does get the confidence to back himself we see why the coaches persist ala Oscar in defence.

Goodwin:

"They seem to be functioning well together," Goodwin said.

"They can all play deep and they can all play up the ground.

"I think that gives us flexibility in terms of how we want to structure up our forward line and flexibility in who we use in the ruck.

That's a fair indication that Weideman 'aint getting dropped.

It seemed early in the game Weed was playing deep forward, Hogan roaming half forward, TMac wing and Gawn ruck. That was when we were smashing the I50s for little reward. Once TMac went deep forward it straightened us up. Not sure where Weed went to but he didn't have much impact.

I want him to succeed but at the moment you'd have to think he is only in the seniors by the skin of his teeth.

Super happy with that win and the improvement that I have seen over the year. Viney back next week and another big step forward for this group. Hopefully even demonlanders can be happy with where this is headed and enjoy the ride. Both of this site's favourite whipping boys produced pretty good performances (Harmes was virtually BOG), not sure who is going to have to make way for Viney now.

Yep a team player still young and learning, as opposed to Trac who thinks he's played 300 games, could have passed the ball when on the boundary the body language of the players knew he would not pass it, I don't like that, wouldn't hurt him to have a week at Casey.( Needs to pull his head in)

Bit harsh, but i noticed it too. Seems like he got a rev in the last qtr. Trac has it all, but maybe his finger needs to get better and stop listening to the BS that Watson and co tell him, and how much they think he is worth at scumland or anywhere else for that matter....

13 disposals and no goals he'd would be dropped if he was at Melbourne.

We don't miss him at all Fritsch has been more than a handy replacement.

Wasn't long ago that folks were screaming for OMacs head every week.
Now he's killing it.
The Weid might need the same patience.

Pretty much sums up the three weeks and it gets a bit harder, faster and meaner from next week.

I have read a number of variations on this theme. But i'm calling #omac myths.

Maybe in his first season Omac got games to get time into him but last year all the games he got were because he earned them.

Lets not fall into the trap of allowing the Omac haters to rewrite history.

Also was never outmarked, always halved the contest, Gawn spoilt the ball out of his hands just outside the square at one point but of his 6 possessions 4 were score involvements. I am happy with what he is bringing at the moment, when you listen to the great forwards, Dunstall, Carey, Brereton etc on how long it took them to feel comfortable at the elite level then realise how much easier and simplistic their roles were I think Weed is doing some nice things.

I did say in the game thread that I think he needs to be a bit more selfish, twice he gave the ball off when the shot was rightfully his to take.

We know the ceiling with pedders, we don’t with Weed.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
