Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

He doesn’t get enough of it, runs into trouble and turns it over.

He needs to find another trick or two or he wont be playing senior footy much.    Right now hes a sprinter playing footy,  hes almost useless if he doesn't have the ball and running in a straight line.

Amazed that no one has Weid out. Was serviceable and is coming along nicely but unless we are completely wedded to the three tall forwards then it's Weid and ANB (or possibly Hunt but I don't think so) for Viney and Salem. Fritsch and Harmes will just play more forward time with Viney in the guts and Salem back.

I think the coaching staff may be ‘wedded to the three tall forwards’.

With that said, they’re not playing as three stay at home forwards and, in fact, wouldn’t be in the 50 at the same time anyways.  Hogan and McDonald in particular are currently playing like 6’5” 100kg flankers and Weid is doing his bit in the ruck.  The versatility seems to have been working for the last two weeks.

Viney in. But leave the midfield as is and just let him run around half forward and pressure and compete. Put him in ANB's spot. Maybe some swapping on ball with Harmes if needed.

I doubt Salem will overcome a thumb in 1 week. If he does then it's a matter of whether Vince or Lewis need a rest, if they drop Tyson or probably I'd go Lewis back to the wing, Fritsch to half forward and go smaller up forward to get more pressure, in which case Weeds is unlucky and misses out. With Hannan, Fritsch, Petracca and Melksham all strong overhead I don't think we need 3 tall forwards, we're only playing the 3 because we lack the midfield/half back options as is.

Regardless of Salem's health it's probably a week to consider if we need to get a 2nd genuine tall defender a run because there's other teams coming up that have 3 big guys

Pardon my ignorance, but where's Lynch? Is he injured? If he plays, GC have Lynch and Day, two tall, agile, capable forwards. Might be time for Frost or for Tmac to spend some time back. After all, we are playing 3 talls forward - Weid, Hogan and Tmac

Lynch is out for a long spell with a PCL knee injury. They played Day and a young ruck.

Not sure how far away 2m Peter is from playing again. If he's not in then the obvious call is probably to just go with Lever and Oscar, but we could also experiment with Joel Smith on the young ruckman to give him a run.

I'm not suggesting we gamble too much with our best team. Play like we did today and we are a huge chance of being beaten by any other side. But I also think we're going to need another tall down back at some stage this year. I guess I'm inspired by Clarko who's always a game or a month or a year ahead of the league and often brings young guys in when he feels the timing is right.

Teams will be absolutely pooing themselves now that T Mac is at Full Forward, clunking marks and doesnt miss in front of Goal.

This is freeing up the mosquito fleet, this is fast becoming a multi faceted forward set up that has many rotating dimensions.

Now Vines is up and about just in time to get some continuity leading up to our tougher assignments.

Gee! Hard to drop anyone this week. I thought the pressure and intensity was there for 4 quarters by all...

Charlie Spark has played very well in his two games and Weid is competing and playing his role very nicely. These two definitely hold there spots. I mention these two as they are the freshest faces to the team.

If Salem and Viney have to come in it has to be for a similar type player.

If this was the case. Salem and Hunt play a similar role. As does Viney and Tyson/ANB.

Who needs a rest?

ANB for Viney.

I expect Salem maybe to be given one more week.

One more week in for the Weid for me. He then has had a 3 week block in the ones to assess.

I though Weideman was good. Goals are goals. Ineffective in the ruck (that I saw) - at least for now - can be built on. Options, options.

Didn't do much in the hit outs (zero actually) but a few nice handballs when up around the play in the ruck. Actually looks very comfortable using his hands in traffic, can handball both sides nicely.

After ever win I read at least 1 poster say the same thing, it is just garbage we played well today against a desperate side, I read the same thing last week, if we play like today we will lose, it makes my blood boil every time I read it.

I know he's taken on the whipping boy role (after Watts left) but amongst his stuff ups there were some signs that a turn around in form wasn't a million miles away. Rose coloured glasses my friends, you've gotta get a pair.

I thought Jack has delegated the role to multiple guys this year...?

In: Salem

Out: ANB, Hunt(?)

Hunt clearly has pace to burn and we all know the deal with his disposal, but the only time I've really seen him put the afterburners on recently is running to the bench. Doesn't seem to be playing his natural game anymore and is getting pushed wide or caught on the fat side when attempting to break the lines

We beat a terrible side by playing in fits and spurts. Purely with decent goal kicking the Saints would've been well clear at 1/4 time and in the game for far longer. In similar form in rounds 1-3 we ended up losing round 4-5.

Last week was a half of sticking in a game and a half of very good football (until junk time). The second half last week was the standard we should aim for. At no stage today did we tackle or dominate around the ball to the same extent as last weeks second half. Today we played like a middle of the road team beating a bad team. That's ok. Don't be upset by it. Just recognise we can get better.

I think Salem is unlikely to get up and with Lewis putting in one of his best and Vince playing ok if Salem is still sore another week could be ok (I’m not convinced in playing all three of them off halfback/wing, it makes us look slow). I’d worry that if we bring Salem in for Hunt GC’s quicker players may tear us apart.

For me it’s:

ANB out for Viney

Hannan out for Garlett (on this week’s form/ for fresh legs.  if we give Hannan the benefit of the doubt because of his excellent game against Essendon I wouldn’t be upset).

You are one of the most negative posters on here, we can do better but we won so just enjoy the little wins grumpy, it really getting over the top you mfcss. every win I hear the same garbage we were lucky to win we played average, broken record do you have template post with the same negative post, and really you were negative last week too.

I think this season you're seeing teams win games off the back of average football. I thought we came reasonably close to contending with Richmond for three quarters and we played terribly. Sure the opposition this week were average but I guess its a positive we're winning games playing average football. We're just outworking teams without being polished a lot of the time. I don't really know what the benchmark is yet, we haven't seen it yet. Is it the Adelaide game last year? I don't know....

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
