Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Fair points, layzie.  I get where some are coming from and, as I said earlier, if this had been a normal turnaround for us, and not a third game in 12 days, then I'd be more disappointed with the final term.  As it stands I think we should great maturity in ensuring we killed the contest before they got a sniff.  It's something we haven't done enough of in the past.

If we were playing, say, a Richmond or Hawthorn today then it would have been a very tough ask.  But we got the job done, and did it professionally, and that's something to be very happy with.

Definitely and you can always take something out of a win like this.

Gee I'm glad to see Brayshaw in the middle more!

Tiffs on Demonland are so often black vs white when there’s a lot of grey in between the two,

It’s okay to be happy with the win. Because regardless of the sub-par competiton it was a good, professional win.

It’s also okay to temper that by not being happy with the ending. A percentage boost was on offer and it wasn’t taken, We know how costly that can be.

Both sides have merit. The namecalling and derogatory stuff is really unnecessary.

Thought I saw a very solid win where the opposition never had so much as a sniff, but I’m glad the collective Demonland mood has reminded me that we lost.

If we’re not the sookiest supporters in the game I’ll be shocked.

Not even, I was at the game and the supporters were thrilled.

It’s just that Demonland is the sookiest place on earth.

Viney and Salem have to come back in.

ANB and maybe Hunt in the gun? Hunt needs to work on his kicking big time!

Liked the Weeds game today. Has to kick his goals when he gets a chance like today!

ANB out for Salem is the easiest decision in the world.

One of either Harmes or Tyson for Viney.

Yeh a win’s a win and that’s great and all...

But we could’ve buried them.

We didn’t. We showed mercy and laziness.

Now we’ll go and pat ourselves on the back for a job well done. Probably do the same against GC and Carlton. Then we’ll get absolutely hammered by a half decent side and scratch our heads wondering how it all went wrong... Repeat.

I want to believe in this club, but I don’t. Not just yet. We have the talent, but not the mettle and for now, that’s gunna hold us back from achieving anything significant.

Yeah I’ll be livid if we roll GC and Carlton by 40 points each to be 7-3. Positively fuming.

It’s not “tempering” it though mate, a wail about not burying them is the only thing many have mentioned. To me it takes it from 100% to 98%. I just can’t understand the psychology of someone who comes on here and rages over it.

Since I guess I would be lumped into the negative supporters bracket I’ll throw in my positives for the day.

I was so happy to see Gus have a great game out there, it was probably the best we’ve seen him play since he’s come back after his concussion issues. He was in everything and barely made an error.

Hogan has continued his great start to the year, he’s consistently getting midfield numbers while also hitting the scoreboard. With TMac back in he side he’s becoming a real weapon for us.

Speaking of TMac, how good is it seeing a big man in red and blue leading up for a high kick and thinking “he’s got this”. Best mark at the club and a hugely important player.

Jake Lever has gone from strength to strength and this week was far and away his best game. I do t think he made one error all day and I feel like he won every one on one contest. Our back line is starting to gel.

Last positive I’ll touch on is that finally we seemed to get rewarded for our ruck dominance, Gawn was putting it exactly where the players were and they were mostly using it fairly well. Clarry, Jones, Tyson, and Brayshaw looked very confident about being in the right places.

Back to what D-Land is arguing about, I think most supporters will be very happy we got the win. The Saints have shown their good, bad, and ugly this season, we got their bad (and we didn’t allow them to be good for more than 5-10min patches). But we can’t deny the problem our players seem to have finishing off quarters and games, it feels like we give up a lot of junk time goals and in the grand scheme of this it could really come back to bite us.

To give up those two late goals soured what should’ve been a very good win.

I get the frustration given it’s been an ongoing theme. The Saints are garbage and should have been properly buried. But granted, it’s not the only noteworthy thing to come out of the game. The individual positives in particular (Brayshaw excelling in the middle where he should be, Lever’s continuing improvement etc) were there for all to see.

Anyone....one day when it counts a missed shot like that could be the difference.

Just a brain fade BA..... I think it was footy karma. I believe Hogan is now our best player. With Tmac and sw improving its a powerful fwd line. Things  are a lot better than 2 weeks ago.

I feel flat but that was the best four quarter effort I've witnessed under Goodwin. The tackling pressure was incredible and St Kilda had no answers, in fact they continued to fumble under implied pressure.

Beside that bizarre kick on the wing, Oliver was an absolute class act. Gus played a brilliant second half. Charlie was super impressive. Lewis was a steadying influence and really dominated on the outside. Gawn beat Hickey for once and our ball movement early on was the slickest I've seen it this year.

Next week I'd bring in Viney for ANB and Hannan who looked flat, even in the warm up, should go out for Jeffy.

I think long term Charlie will replace Jeffy, because he's so much harder at the contest, but I reckon they'll both play next week.

In that gutting last quarter where the wheels totally fell off, St Kilda kicked 2.3 to our 3.0 to outscore us by a staggering -3 points. Oh, I totally get the angst now!

Look I’m probably being flogish with the excessive sarcasm, but I truly think some perspective needs to be kept. In any game there is always two teams on the field and delivering a drubbing relies on the opposition requires the other team raising the white flag to a degree. As Melbourne supporters we should understand that. The opposition will score goals sometimes. They didn’t score heaps and they didn’t score them easily. It doesn’t necessarily mean we are weak or soft or anything like that, it just means things happened that can happen in professional football. To me it barely takes the edge off. It was an excellent win.

Feels like a loss. Wasted opportunity to improve our percentage.

I guess you have not been following them for long.  After sitting through dross (I go each week!)for a decade I am happy with a 39 point win every day of the week.  Not ideal to give up a couple of goals but focus on some positives just for a second FFS

Thats funny, on 7 news highlights, Hogan was reported as getting an off the ball hit, resulting in a free kick which he missed? Go figure i guess...

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
