Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

He's a smarmy bastard. My God, that simpering grin ...

He thinks he's intelligent, but his mangling of the English language at times outs him as a meathead. His big stupid glasses simply confirm that he is a meathead who mistakenly thinks he is intelligent.

He is a living example of the Dunning-Kruger effect.

He’s definitely pro St Kilda for this game. Didn’t he coach them for a while? Might have a soft spot similar to when Roos commentates us

That commentary where he hoped McCartin was ok was fair enough in his concerns but how Jetta didn’t get some love for his courage is beyond me

I was incensed when he mentioned that McCartin had a history of head injuries, but failed to acknowledge that Nev came close to retiring due to concussions.

Ignorant or biased I don’t care - just poor commentary and poor research and knowledge of the game.

Wasn’t StKilda going about as well under his tutelage as they are going now?  Or were they, could they be, worse ?

It kind of felt like the commentators were told to talk up St Kilda today, maybe they thought if they did that they'd be entitled to an easier whack when the wheels fell off?

Although in general how bad was BT, didn't know about Tracc's finger, said numerous times that Webster caused the 50 meter penalty which went to the saints (even argued with the others when they pointed out it couldn't have been a teammate the ran through the protected area. Was the guy drunk, or is he just that stupid?

I had no idea what he was talking about, and clearly he didn’t either.

As regards Tracc’s digit - it was all over the newspapers, and most footy media.  IsBT so wrapped up in his own opinion and his own world that he doesn’t follow the news?

Bartel he's a piece of work that pip squeak. Did you hear his comments the other week "Everyone is saying its Melbourne's turn to win a premiership, i don't know why everyone is saying it, it's not their turn" or words that effect.

He's a yes man no opinions of his own.

It's a fair point though

there're no turns - earn it

Tim Watson who today said

Petracca is one day going to break a game open

Tom Mcdonald just adds another dimension to their forward line

Melbourne are just applying so much pressure getting numbers to the contest and their set up is preventing St Kilda from moving the ball quickly

Yeah he hates us

Why does anyone care about Watson? Honestly he was one of the worst coaches of his generation.

Let him stroke it over the saints, doesn't change the result.

For the past few weeks it's been all "god we are crap, we have no idea, phark Melbourne", then we win a couple and it's all "Tim Watson doesn't rate us, god he is crap, has no idea, phark Tim Watson".

It's a beautiful thing

He does not hate us, no one should ever be only positive about any team all the time and no one should be all negative about any team, everyone makes mistakes no team plays a. perfect footy. I think too many are making it personal with Tim, nothing he said about the dees today was over the top, or personal most people like to see the underdog win. The saints are really bad they tried their guts out to day, which is even more concerning for them, I always  thought that they never really hit the bottom when Lyon left, they are now there it starts from here their rebuild.

It's not about rating us, the entire commentary today was from the viewpoint of what the Saints did or didn't do, what they needed to do etc Completely unprofessional

I normally don't notice this kind of thing, but in the first half it was pretty clear.

Paul Roos is just as bad when covering Melbourne games though.

Irrelevant though? No. One of the best players I and many others saw through the late 80's and 90's. And coached at the highest level. I reckon he may know a bit more about the game than you and me.

Also played his 1st AFL game as a 15yr old.
So I'm tipping book learnin' wasn't a priority.

To quote from an old favourite show of mine:

"Tim Watson's only crime is being Tim Watson. It is also his punishment."

As other's pointed out, he barracked for the Saints today and will go home disappointed.

And that is the pattern of his life for more about a decade now.

Well I watched it, listened to him and was unaware of any bias

Most commentators start cheering for the side getting done anyway.
Makes for a far more entertaining telecast when it's close.

True by and large, though I can recall many occasions when we were getting done when the commentators chose to put the boot in rather than coach so enthusiastically - perhaps we deserved it.  However the amateur coaching Watson and co were doing started before it was clear who would dominate. And it was pretty much all they talked about in the first part of the game.

If only we could have the option commentary replaced by the umpires' mike.

I'm not sure how some of the people on this website function in the real world. "Mummy, the mean man on the TV didn't say nice things about my football team". If you don't like the commentary, turn the sound down.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
