Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Angus and Gaff are meeting to clear the air. I'd think Gaff is def considering joining Melbourne otherwise i wouldn't see the point in meeting Angus. I also think it's important to consider people around the situation have said it won't be an issue (e.g. Jonesy and Mark Brayshaw saying they forgive him)

I’m not reading too much into and I can see why he is meeting Gus even without moving to the Dees. Gaff has reached out to the Brayshaw family to apologise, Gus is part of the family and in the footy “community”, it makes sense to me. (If it is happening).

I think Gaff would be looking to speak to everyone in the close family circle especially Mum.

Should he fly to Afghanistan and clear the air with Will too? He’s the biggest brother of all.

I get the need for Gaff to mend bridges with Andrew and why Hamish would want to facilitate it. I can see why Craig Gaff would reach out to Mark Brayshaw. I can’t see why anybody would involve Angus in any way. It has nothing whatsoever to do with him.

Maybe Gaff is just a nice person and wishes to apologise.

I've seen it mentioned on here that Gus and Gaff are meeting. Is it correct? I read today that Hamish and Andrew are meeting him in Perth next week but wouldn't mind clarification of the Gus meet.

As someone mentioned, It was reported by Mark Robinson on AFL 360 last night.

However, as another poster also mentioned, it is their belief that Mark Robinson mentioned Angus when meaning to refer to Andrew. That was also my take watching the AFL 360 last night.

I really feel this thread has lost its relevance, and by continuing we are failing to let the matter lie and be controlled by the people directly involved.

Nah, it's still relevant. Posters just need to be respectful, which includes getting facts right.

Just listening to David King on 360 and his very reasonable comments about the moral outrage ( my words not his ) that have accompanied this incident.

Yeah it was a shocker but don't the media love it.  [censored] me the vultures would love another big whack this weekend so that they could continue the sanctimonious [censored] they  have been wallowing in.

What did McLure have to say about it? Actually scratch that, he has nothing relevant to say about anything. ?

I can’t hack those two thugs pontificating on the Gaff affair.

Gaff’s gaffe was a one-off shocker from a previously fair player, and he was lucky to only get 8 weeks.

Matthews repeatedly perpetrated cowardly ,behind the play atrocities ( Giles, Smith and McMullin for us, and every team can quote similar incidents  against their players)

Even worse is Judd, who on two occasions was found guilty of attacking the eyes of opponents.....the EYES!  Obviously delicate, sensitive, and important structures, crucial to a normal life.

Not satisfied with that, he “chicken-winged” an opponent with a known shoulder injury. He was also guilty of deliberately standing on his taggers abdomen, and twisting his stops into his guts. The guy is a vicious, heartless hypocrite, and should never comment on unfair play.

This is the problem.

He didn't murder anyone.  He didn't mean to maim his face and knock his teeth out. He didn't mean to cause permanent damage.  It was all an accident.  He just meant to hit him,  too take his frustration out a bit and to incapacitate him long enough to run off. And he is a good bloke, and this is out of character. Never before in 20 years of sport. He has such a good track record.

BUT

This action could have killed someone.  Maybe not on a football field, but on a footpath. Or in different circumstances. And in that case we would be crowing "coward punch" and "thug".

If the action has that sort of potential for harm, it shouldn't be acceptable and should be called out. Worse is that it is on tv, in front of an audience as a role model for kids (whether we like that or not). The outcry is justified as is the punishment.

Because society needs to see this view of behavior as unacceptable, whether the victim stands up and walks away or doesn't.

Is it a little strange he's flown to Melbourne for the hearing when they could've held it in Perth via video conference or with local Tribunal judges? Wonder if he's planning to visit some of the Brayshaw family to apologise in person.

And have a little chat to the MFC officials, the players, the FD in private, the recruiters, real estate agencies and other essential contacts related to the relocation for the 2019 season - a fresh start!

St.Kilda - throwing big money offer at Hannebery

Can't help but thinking we are in the box seat here. Absolutely no fugazi from us, as has been the case with all of our big name signings in recent times.

Round 4 next year...

Out: JKH, Smith

In: Gaff, Lever

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
